SAVED BY GOD'S LOVE Because the people broke the old covenant, God promised a new covenant, not in the blood of oxen and other animals, but in the blood of the Son, Jesus Christ. This new covenant, foreseen from afar by Jeremiah and the prophets, was not to be engraved on stone, or written on paper, but carved on our hearts, so that we might know God intimately. Not by keeping many laws are we to be saved, but by the love of God, living and real in our hearts through the sacrifice of Christ. Our Eucharist is the pledge of that indwelling of Christ, and of our response of praise and thanksgiving to God for the mercy, love, and kindness shown to us in forgiving our sins and cleansing our hearts of everything evil. God issues this invitation to intimacy by offering us the chance to have our sufferings transformed into the perfect love of the Savior, who first loved us. Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Welcome A Message from Msgr. Joe As Lent moves into its final days, our celebration today gives us an opportunity to reflect on how our Lenten practices have brought us closer to God. Where were you when Lent started? How do things stand now? What can yet be done? Our opening prayer invites us to “walk eagerly in that same charity” out of which Jesus gave his life for us. May that indeed be our prayer today. As we celebrate the final scrutiny with our elect before their celebrations of the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil, we proclaim with them the gospel of Jesus raising Lazarus from dead. In these final days of examining our lives, may I suggest that if you did not already avail yourselves of God’s grace through sacramental reconciliation to do so before Easter. In this miracle Jesus unbinds Lazarus from the consequences of sins, invites him out of the tomb and into new life. By the grace of the Holy Spirit, we are forgiven letting go of patterns of sin, to grow in the life of virtue, and witness to a joyful conversion. We, your parish priests are eager to help you if you experience difficulty, hesitation, or uncertainty about approaching the Lord in this sacrament. If you have not received this healing sacrament in a long time, we are ready to welcome you. We, whom Christ has ordained to minister this forgiveness in his name, are also approaching this sacrament, as both penitents and ministers. Next Sunday, March 25, we will gather to celebrate Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord and enter into Holy Week. On this Sunday, we recall the Lord’s triumphal entry into
Jerusalem and listen to the proclamation of the Passion of the Lord so that we might enter into this week mindful and aware of the Lord’s great love for us. You are invited as we gather for mass next week to join in the procession that is unique to next Sunday’s liturgy. Weather permitting we will gather outside of the main doors of the Church, where our palms will be blessed and we will listen to the gospel of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem before our procession into the church. Thanks to all who participated in our Parish Mission. They were good days. As Lent comes to a conclusion, let us continue to be fervent in our prayer for one another especially our Elect. God bless

Baptized and formed into the People of God, we continue to grow in the Apostolic Tradition of Worship, Word and Service. Worship through our participation in the Eucharist and celebration of sacraments; Word, in our commitment to Catholic identity through Scripture and catechesis; and Service, as disciples who share God’s love with all by working together for peace and justice to advance the coming of the Kingdom of God. Spiritual Direction Tending the sacred rela onship
Spiritual direc on is an on‐going rela onship between a “directee” (person seeking) and a “director” (qualified person giving guidance) wherein a sacred space is created for the explora on and deepening of the spiritual life. Through conversa on and reflec on, the directee becomes more a uned to God's presence and can respond more fully to the Divine as it is revealed in all areas of life. Direc on typically takes place in a
confiden al one‐on‐one se ng and may include some form of prayer experience to increase awareness of the movement of the Spirit in the directee’s life. If you are interested in more informa on, please contact Jennifer Hinton at 609‐558‐0985 (cell) or [email protected] or Teresa Knipper at 609‐558‐0582 (cell) or [email protected]. P F I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Bego en Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, bego en, not made, consubstan al with the Father; through him all things were
made. For us men and for our salva on he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pon us Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. Faith Formation A Message from John Michael McGuire Have you ever found yourself extremely frustrated when you couldn’t remember the password for a seldom used web account? Even if that page is vital to your life, and what you have to accomplish, it just isn’t your top priority. It’s a great analogy for our faith life. There are many things in life that need our immediate and full a en on; our careers, caring for our families, and keeping our houses are all top priori es. These are like our online banking apps, work email, and our Amazon accounts. We remember the passwords for these, or have them saved on our computer, and don’t ever find ourselves locked out. Our faith life, private prayer me, and spiritual reading may find themselves taking a backseat because they aren’t generally an emergency situa on. When we finally find ourselves needing to tap in, and access our faith, perhaps we find ourselves out of sync, disconnected, or unable to log‐in. The place where this analogy falls apart is that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, the life, the password to our faith. If we know Christ and seek him, even the most forge ul of us can get back into the journey. Unlike that stubborn webpage we struggle to access we’ll never have to request a new password or missing username because we are all sons and daughters of God our Father. This week let’s pray that the remainder of this Lenten season can be an opportunity to reconnect, and
repriori ze this aspect of our life that can some mes find itself lost in the busyness of life. God Bless and have a great week!

This program covers a year’s catechesis requirements over 30 hours in a two week period, and also provides many liturgical and spiritual opportuni es unique to this program.
Sacrament Policy Reminder It is expected that children begin preparing for the Sacrament of First Reconcilia on/First Holy Communion in first grade, and that young people begin preparing for Confirma on in seventh grade. This policy allows for a child to receive an adequate

Our Parish School A Message from Dr. Ryan Killeen Over the next few days we celebrate two special feast days, St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th and St. Joseph’s Day on March 19th. These days have par cular significance for me as my middle name is Patrick and the name I chose at Confirma on is Joseph. We all walk through this life with the Saints by our side. Looking to the lives of the saints as models of faith and humility serves as a grounding
compass. My parents chose the name Patrick in honor of my Irish heritage. I’m of Irish descent which I realize comes up fairly o en. I cherish, and celebrate my personal history as should we all. I chose Joseph in honor of St. Joseph and also the Sisters of St. Joseph who taught me throughout my twelve years of Catholic school. Each year on the Feast of St. Joseph as kids we a ended mass and were welcomed into the convent by the good sisters for punch and dessert. As a father I can think of no be er model to follow than that of St. Joseph. As I am sure you are all aware the Irish community has a long tradi on of celebra ng the Feast of St. Patrick and the Italian community has an equally long tradi on of celebra ng the Feast of St. Joseph. As a parish these communi es are central to our history and founda on. The Irish came to Princeton as builders especially of the canal and many Italian families traveled here to create the beau ful Gothic stone work of the University. Our Catholic community was central to the day to day life of these immigrants in the late 19th and early 20th Century. In 1880 Msgr. Moran welcomed a small band of Irish nuns to Princeton and the story of our Catholic school began. Church and school provided community and respect in a some mes intolerant world.
The narra ve doesn’t end there. Our parish becomes richer and more vibrant each day as we celebrate the diversity of so many cultures and tradi ons as one parish family. You can keep up with Dr. Killeen’s blog posts “SPS Voice” and also listen to our new podcast series St. Paul Cast by visi ng our website, spsprinceton.org and follow on twi er @Dr.RyanKilleen.

Fake News Series This series explores the Good News of Jesus, not Fake News. It looks at
who Jesus really is – the God who became man, died for our Redemp on, and rose from the dead. It dispels myths that Jesus is just a good guy, who teaches us how to be good, is tolerant of our life choices, and chooses the path of least resistance. His Passion and Death is certainly not a path of least resistance and we are called to follow in His footsteps.

The youth will learn about the consequences of
actions as well as what it looks like to live a life of virtue and how the way we live affects society as a whole.

Be a Greeter on Easter Sunday! "I was a stranger, and you invited me in.” (Mt 25:35). On Easter Sunday, we will again have Greeters
outside all church doors to welcome those who join us for Easter Mass. Greeters extend a warm welcome to all who come to Mass, they hand out bulle ns, Easter Eggs, umbrella bags (if it pours), etc.. They direct those who need extra help with sea ng to the ushers inside the church. The presence of Greeters makes our community much more welcoming, especially to those who aren’t coming to church all that o en or are visitors in town. So, stay on a er the Mass you are a ending to Greet for the following Mass, or come early, bring family! If you can be a Greeter at any one of the Easter Sunday Masses, please email Claire at [email protected].
