ST. MARK PARISH PENTECOST SUNDAY BURLINGTON, VT
Dear parishioners,
Welcome back to Church! Starting June 1, 2020 we will be coming back to our regular
schedule of daily and Sunday masses. Thanks be to God! I am grateful to all of you for your
patience, prayers and understanding as you have had to be away from the mass and the
Eucharist. Our Lord reminded his first apostles and disciples and He reminds us today that
He remains with us always especially when we are unable to receive Him sacramentally,
through no fault of our own.
I want to assure all of you that when we do open our Church to public Mass starting on Monday, June 1, 2020, we
will have in place all necessary protocols to keep everyone safe. So, in preparation for the June 1st re-opening of
the church we will have everything professionally cleaned and disinfected. In keeping with proper consideration
of health and safety we will be keeping the number of people in church at 85. We will have some extra space for
overflow so that we do not have to turn people away at the door. If we do reach our capacity in the church for any
mass then you will be able to attend in the overflow space through video media and the Eucharist will be distrib-
uted both in the Church and overflow space. I will continue to live stream the mass so that people can participate
via digital media from home as well. There will be no missalettes in the pews, but we are working on a possible
“disposable” worship sheet for you when you come in. We are blessed to be able to come back for public worship
and I thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we navigate these new procedures.
Finally, As you know the first phase of the revitalization of the interior of the church has been completed during
this time. We will have the grand unveiling of the tabernacle altar and repositioning of the tabernacle to its in-
tended central location on June 6th at 3:45pm, just prior to the beginning of our Sunday Vigil Mass. During this
time of pandemic, the love of Jesus has been visible in the selfless actions and compassion that the people of this
faith community have shown to each other. Jesus truly is the “Heart of the Church” and the new location of the
tabernacle will highlight this truth. I pray that with our return to public worship our faith will continue to deepen
and our zeal to serve others will grow. Thank you all for the generosity of your time, talents and treasures in liv-
ing the faith we profess and helping others to be drawn into a relationship with Jesus. May God continue to pour
out his blessings upon us and guide us safely to Him by the power of the Holy Spirit this Pentecost Sunday.
~Fr. Dallas

MEN’S FAITH FORMATION -
Into the Breach: Prayer
Prayer must be a priority in the life of a man. Eucha-
ristic adoration, reading scripture and saying the ro-
sary are central to prayer. Robert Feeney tells his
story of the power of prayer on the battlefield in
Vietnam and life in general.
To access this video from the “Into the Breach” series
go to:
www.kofc.org/en/campaigns/into-the-breach.html
and scroll down to “Prayer”, or go to the St. Mark
Parish website and then go to Parish Life and Adult
Formation.
WOMEN’S FAITH FORMATION -
The Spirit and Our Lady
"The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power
of the Most High will overshadow you." - Luke 1:35
Our Lady, from the moment of her conception, was
overshadowed by the Holy Spirit. As the Spouse of
the Holy Spirit she models for us what our lives can
look like when we say "yes" to God's will and fully
give ourselves over to the actions of the Spirit of God.
Mary's fiat led her to the cross, the empty tomb, and
ultimately the upper room where she was once again
overshadowed by the Holy Spirit. If we have the cour-
age, as Mary did, to say yes to God's Spirit and to sur-
render our will to His, we too will experience the
power of the Most High overshadowing us.
To access this video from the “Wild Goose” series, go
to Formed.org and search “The Spirit and Our Lady”
or go to the St. Mark Parish website and then to Par-
ish Life and Adult Formation to access this and many
other women’s formation resources.
Rosary for Vocations
The next “First Wednesday Prayer for Vocations” is June 3 at 5:30 p.m. on YouTube. I will post
the link on the church Facebook page and website closer to the date. The video will continue to be
available on YouTube, even after we are allowed to pray the Rosary in the church, for those who are
unable attend in person. Use this Rosary anytime to pray for Vocations. Pray that vocations will grow
in our parish.
Using the Luminous Mysteries, pray the Rosary as usual with the following
intentions for each decade:
First Luminous Mystery: Our Lord’s Baptism in the Jordan
Prayer intention: For the members of our parish, that each of us may
fulfill God’s call to the universal vocation of holiness.
Second Luminous Mystery: Our Lord’s Miracle at Cana
Prayer intention: For vocations to marriage, and that married couples
may mirror to their communities the relationship of the Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit through their families.
Third Luminous Mystery: Our Lord’s Proclamation of the Kingdom
Prayer intention: For vocations to the permanent diaconate, that by their
lives of service, they would inspire others to humbly serve one another.
Fourth Luminous Mystery: Our Lord’s Transfiguration
Prayer intention: For vocations to religious life and consecrated single life,
that by totally giving themselves to God, they may manifest to the world
a life of service to others, and mirror the glory of the world to come.
Fifth Luminous Mystery: Our Lord’s Institution of the Eucharist
Prayer intention: For vocations to the priesthood, that young men would
respond to God’s call to love and serve the People of God.

PENTECOST SUNDAY
SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
My Jesus,
I believe that You are truly present
in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You
as if You were already there and unite myself wholly
to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.
