Congratulations to Larry and Mary Ellen Williams who celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on August 3rd, 2018. May Jesus, who was a guest at the wedding in Cana, bless them, their families and friends with good health, peace, and joy.
FOR VOCATIONS Our “traveling” Prayer Chalice makes a weekly journey to parishioner homes. Volunteers take the Prayer Chalice at any one of the Sunday Masses, bring it home, place it in a visible location within the home, and pray daily before it with prayers to promote vocations within the Church. The chalice must be returned by 4:00 PM on Saturday so that it is available for the next volunteer family. Prayers will accompany the chalice, but one may opt to pray other prayers. Prayer is a beautiful way to keep vocation intentions strong as our heavenly Father calls to hearts. Contact Peggy Wall at [email protected] if interested in signing up for a particular week. Phone 772-370-0169. You select the week!

CELEBRATING CHILDREN AT ST. LUCIE PARISH
To the parents of our young children, may we suggest… Relax! God put the wiggle in children; don’t feel you have to suppress it in God’s house. All are welcome! Sit toward the front where it is easier to see and hear. Quietly explain the parts of the Mass. Sing the hymns, pray and voice the responses. Children learn liturgical behavior by copying you. If you need to leave Mass with your child, please feel free to do so, but please come back. As Jesus said: “Let the children come to me.” Remember that the way we welcome children in church directly affects the way they respond to the Church, to God, to Christ and to one another. Let them know that they are at home in this house of worship. Please do not use the pew envelopes for pew art. They cost money to supply and giving children writing implements in church isn’t a prudent idea. Parents are reminded to escort your child to the restroom if it is necessary for your child to use the facility while in church or in the Fr. Hickey Parish Center. This is a diocesan request – protocol respected and implemented by the friars and staff of Saint Lucie Parish. To members of the parish: A smile of encouragement is always welcome to parents with small, active children. The presence of children is a gift to the church. They give us “a future full of people.”
WE LOVE BABIES We love babies and believe that families should come to church together. It’s really the best way for kids to learn how to behave in church. However, if your baby or toddler is really causing a distraction to the people seated around you, the lector, or the priest, please take him or her into the chapel, or narthex, or out to the rotunda for a few minutes to calm down. Then return to church. Thank You! Experience is the name everyone gives to his mistakes.
CHURCH POOR BOXES There are four “Poor Boxes” located in the church: one above each table beside St. Michael (as you enter or depart the Church.) Two additional poor boxes are located by the side entrance/exit doors. Your contributions truly go to help the poor. The pleas these days are many times critical and we do our best to provide for our sisters and brothers in need. Thank you for your generosity.
KITCHEN DONATIONS HELP! Whether you donate food, personal hygiene items, or St. Lucie Kitchen gift certificates, your donations serve many in need. Every week many families are fed. It costs about $3.00+ per person to provide a nutritious hot dinner. Thanks to your generosity, our “bread and fishes” continue to multiply

TRIBUTE TO A LOVED ONE St. Lucie Parish offers beautiful certificates for contributions to our St. Lucie Kitchen for all donations of $25 or more. Your donation may be made in the name of another (living or deceased) for an anniversary, birthday, wedding, commemorative special occasion, or a memorial. St. Lucie Kitchen feeds families in need every Thursday. This ministry is essential and people depend on us. When needing to purchase a gift please consider giving a beautiful certificate while helping support our kitchen! Stop by the Parish Office
“BOX OF JOY” The Council of Catholic Women and Youth Group, under direction of Cross Catholic outreach (crosscatholic.org/BOXOFJOY) combine their efforts to bring needed necessities to children in third-world countries during Christmas. In order to accomplish this, we need your help. Collection for “Box of Joy” began at St. Lucie in July with items to fill a shoebox. The age group we are purchasing for are girls aged 10-14. In July we asked for flip-flops and plastic foldable ponchos (like the kind sold in amusement parks). There is a box in the narthex to collect your donations. August 18TH and 19TH, we will be collecting hair accessories, sunglasses and hair brushes. September 15TH and 16TH, we ask for lip balm, tooth brush and toothpaste and “bar” soap (no liquids) and small packs of tissues. Our final collection will be October 20TH and 21ST, consider purchasing a jump rope, mini puzzles and small craft kits for girls. Keep in mind, they must fit in a shoe box! It costs $9 to mail each box. Donations are gratefully accepted.
ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
Jesus hides His immense glory, beauty and dignity in the Blessed Sacrament because he wants us to come to Him in faith that we may love Him for Himself. “Come to me all of you who are weary and find life burdensome and I will refresh you.” (Mt 11:28) Eucharistic Adoration is simply our response to Jesus’ love for us, whereby each of us is willing to spend a quiet holy hour of prayer in His Eucharistic presence once a week on a regular basis. Come celebrate in prayer every Thursday from 9:15 AM until 5:00 PM ending with Benediction, or every First Friday.
No one knows what he can do until he tries.
BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP The pain that results from the death of a loved one can be excruciating. This pain takes on both physical and emotional manifestations. The pain of grief grips each of us differently. Grief work is a thorough and on-going review process. It is very repetitive, takes a long time, and is never fully or finally accomplished, but the intensity of the pain does lessen, and the frequency becomes intermittent. The Bereavement Group at St. Lucie meets every Monday morning from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM in the Parish Center Library with exception to July and holidays. Those who would like to talk and share their feelings in a safe place where confidentiality is very important are welcome and encouraged to attend.
BREATH OF LIFE BIBLE MINISTRY Pope Francis has said that to know Jesus you must read the Bible. So why not join the Breath of Life Bible Ministry each Saturday morning at 9:30 am in the Parrish hall library? The group discusses and analyzes the readings for each Sunday Mass with the guidance of Father Curt. There are shared questions, testimonies and fellowship as the group discusses the deeper meaning of Scripture and the Gospels. For more information, call Edward Essayan at 561-222-9912.

“PAN DE VIDA” (Por P. Fredy Peña T., ssp
