RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS Catechetical Sunday

Today, Sunday September 15th, we will be commissioning our Catechists for the 2019-20 Religious Education Year dur-ing the 9:00 and 10:30 Masses.

Parent/Catechist Meetings Please be sure to attend your scheduled time to meet with your child’s catechists this week, and bring your com-pleted “About My Child” sheet (with photo attached) to hand to the catechists. 4:30, 5:00 and 6:30 sessions do not meet as a class this week. Chapter one should be complet-ed at home this week.

Tuesday 2:30 – 4:00 6th, 7th & 8th Grade Classes will meet as usual!

Confirmation Students Confirmation Prep Classes Start on Sunday, September 15th, 3:45 - 5:15. Students attending on Tuesdays will begin on September 17th, 6:30 – 8:00. Drop-off and pick-up will be at the Church. Please bring a pen or pencil to class each week and your Confirmation Journal, which will be distrib-uted during the first class. Confirmation retreats, for 9th grade students, are on Saturday, September 28th, 12:00 – 6:00 (A – Martyn), and Sunday, October 20th, 12:30 – 6:30 (Mazzella – Z), beginning in the meeting room. Students should have something to eat before coming to the retreat. We will have a “Lunch” break about half-way through, consisting of pizza, chips, water and some type of dessert goodie.

PARISH PICNIC

Our Parish Picnic is scheduled for Sunday, September 22nd after the 12:15 pm Mass. Hamburgers/hot dogs and drinks will be provided. We will have a "Sharing Table" where you can bring a salad, appetizer or dessert to share. Please bring blan-kets or chairs to enjoy the music of the Chain Gang. ST. KATERI PARENT-CHILD CONNECTION The Parent-Child Connection will begin their regular weekly meetings on Monday, September 16th at 10- 11:30 am in the lower level of the Faith Formation Building at St. Kateri. Parents and caregivers of infants through preschoolers are invited to meet for child-geared play, crafts, songs and snacks as well as weekly discussions of faith and other family/child development topics. For infor-mation, contact Daniela Curcio at [email protected]. There is a small donation (for small snack/craft): $2 for 1st child, $1 for additional children. We follow the Wapping-ers/Arlington schedules: if either is delayed or cancelled, our group does not meet.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL NEWS Thank you for your continued prayers and support. If you need to reach us for assistance, or would like to volun-teer to become a member of SVDP, please call us at 227-7863. THE SILVER LININGS LEISURE CLUB ACTIVITIES Our late September activities include the following: Our weekly free Senior Stretch Exercise Class continues

each Wednesday, 9:45-10:30am in the St. Kateri Meeting Room. If you haven't tried us yet, it's great fun and healthy for you too! Bring water, light weights and a friend.

On Thursday, September 26th, our Catholic Classics Book of the Month Club will discuss The Heart of the Matter, by Catholic novelist Graham Greene at 10-11am in the St. Kateri Meeting Room. Refreshments will be available, and we'll discuss future selections under new leadership. So much to read, so little time!

The Leisure Club is a loosely formed group of senior citi-zens from our three parishes "and beyond," who enjoy par-ticipating in various activities held on weekdays. Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church Twenty-Fourth Sunday In Ordinary Time

RCIA (RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS) Non-Catholic adults interested in learning about our Catholic faith and Catholic adults who need the sacra-ments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation or Eucharist) are welcome to attend our free sessions. They take place on Thursday evenings, 7-9 pm, beginning in October and culminating at the Easter Vigil, April 12th, 2020. Please sign up before classes begin. RCIA FOR TEENS We will be conducting a two year program to give ninth, tenth or eleventh graders a background in the faith and the opportunity to receive sacraments they may have missed. If you are, or know of, such a student, contact the Parish Office at 227-1710 x-2.

BLOOD DRIVE For our blood drive, we had 57 people sign in and we collected 56 units of blood! Thank you to all the donors and following volunteers who gave of their time and great-ly supported our Blood Drive. JOIN THE CHOIR! Choir rehearsals for our new season begin on Wednesday, September 25th in the church. A love of praising God in song and a musical voice are the only requirements.

OUR SANCTUARY LAMP The Sanctuary Lamp, which is next to our Tabernacle, is a sign of the Real Presence of Jesus, the Light of the World in our Parish Church. In accordance with tradition, this candle may be dedicated in honor of, or in memory of, a particular person or persons, or for a special intention. The customary offering for this weekly dedication is $20. Any-one who wants to make arrangements for dedicating the Sanctuary Lamp should call the Parish Office at 227-1710.

OLL HIGH SCHOOL TACHS EXAM REVIEW COURSE Our Lady of Lourdes High School will hold a TACHS (Test for Admission into Catholic High Schools) Exam Review Course to familiarize students with an understanding of the test format, types of questions and how to approach differ-ent types of questions. All 8th grade students who plan to apply to OLL High School are required to take the TACHS exam that will be held on Friday, November 8th.
