MAY GOD GRANT THEM COMFORT AND CONSOLATION: Our parish community extends its sympathy to the family and friends of Raymond Jilek who died last week May God grant him eternal life and grant his family consolation and peace. Ray’s wake will be today, Sunday, December 20, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Johnson McBride Funeral Home. There will be a rosary led by the Knights of Columbus at 2:00 p.m. and parish prayers at 5:30 p.m. Ray’s funeral will be on Monday, December 21, at 11:00 a.m.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CONNECTION: For those of us who have been struggling mightily through the mildness of the past few months with mouses in our houses, (or old trucks that cannot, so to speak, find any room in the ‘ol Inn), the romance of the story of how “Silent Night” came into the world is, perhaps, lost. Whether those darn rodents are destroying organ bellows or vintage bench seats in forty-three year old pickups, cute and adorable as they may be, (the mice, not the trucks ), the havoc they wreak is frustrating to no end. AUGH!!! It really puts something into perspective, though, doesn’t it? Think for a moment…if ‘ol Fr. Joseph Mohr had been the impetuous yours truly, and not the pastor whose saintly patience and trust in the Almighty would lead him to the very peacefulness that He had intended for mankind all along, would the wise priest have captured that serenity and glory with such humble, poetic words for his friend, Franz Gruber, to so beautifully ease into motion, creating a musical portrait so vivid, so real, that generations have been able to close their eyes to its magical strains and be escorted on the very wings of angels back to the most memorable night the world has ever known? So, if you happen to find any “creature’s stirring” this Christmas season, call a holiday truce, hide the traps, go and shake the little devil’s paws, sit down over a hunk of your best cheese, maybe hammer out a Truck Treaty, and thank ‘em for their ancestor’s fine taste in church organs. And from all of us in the ‘ol St. Pius X RE Program, may your Christmas be both calm and bright, and steeped with that ‘ol heavenly peace!

REMINDER: NO CLASS DECEMBER 23 & 30

MINNESOTA NICE CARE PACKAGE FOR SOLDIERS: In addition to our participation in the McLeod County Christmas giving program, we are also offering you an opportunity to remember men and women serving in the armed services on our behalf. Please call Beth Petersen 952-201-1978 with any questions.

JUBILEE OF FAMILIES: During the Year of Mercy, Pope Francis has called for a Jubilee of Families, which pays special attention to families within the context of the Year of Mercy. He has asked that families participate in the Year of Mercy by making a pilgrimage to a Holy Door and preparing for this pilgrimage spiritually in some way. In the Diocese of New Ulm, the Jubilee of Families will be celebrated on January 3 and will include Holy Mass with Bishop LeVoir at 10:00 AM at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, along with a short program and reception afterwards.

NOVENA IN PREPARATION FOR THE JUBILEE OF FAMILIES: A novena will be prayed by families all across the Diocese of New Ulm starting on December 26 and ending on January 3. Although a pilgrimage to the Holy Doors at the Cathedral is suggested, if your family is not able to make the pilgrimage, families are still strongly encouraged to pray the novena provided in this week’s bulletin. The daily reflections and family activities are available on the Diocese of New Ulm’s webpage at www.dnu.org/jubilee-of-families.

PRINTED COPIES OF FR. CORNELIUS’ HOMILIES: For the last 13 months we have been putting printed copies of Fr. Cornelius’ homilies in the pews. Starting next Sunday there will be copies of his homilies available in the back of church for those of you who would still like to have a written copy. We will no longer be putting printed homilies in the pews. If you would like a copy of the homily, make sure to pick it up on your way into church.

RELIGIOUS GIVE THANKS: “We cannot begin to repay all who contribute,” writes a Catholic sister. “So we pray to God, who is never outdone in generosity, to reward you.” Heartfelt thanks for your donation to last week’s collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious. May God bless you for your goodness!

EVANGELIZATION CORNER: Waiting for the new one: O' Come, O' Come Emmanuel: As we complete the Advent Season and move into Christmas, have you looked at the Advent space in your heart that you prepared for the Infant King? Can you say you are ready to know Him in a very deep and personal way which becomes deeper almost every Christmas? Many of us have "implicit conversions" which means that our actions and our hearts gradually indicate that we have found the Christ Child. But you also know that God desires us to love more...that's why he gives His Beloved Son to us. The Church agrees with Him. Each and every year, through the liturgical cycle and offerings, the Church gives us chances for MORE CONVERSION OPPORTUNITIES! Do you dramatically wish to experience your love of God with your neighbors and friends, expand your conversion as you are renewed in your faith through the Discover Christ Series which begins on Sunday, January 10 at 5:00 PM in the lower level of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake? Feel free to fill out one of the prayer cards which has a registration form on the reverse or email us at: [email protected] or go to Holy Trinity's web site to the parish tab and then to the Christlife tab to register.
