OLD PALM COLLECTION:

We will collect old palm today,

Sunday, March 11 and the weekend of March 17-18. Baskets will be

placed in the vestibules of the Church.

At the Foot of the Cross

Fearing the battle was over And I’d already lost the war,

I was tired of trying and failing, I just couldn’t fight anymore.

So, dragging my battle-scarred body,

I crawled to the foot of the cross. And I sobbed. ‘Oh please, Father forgive me.

But I tried…I tried…and still lost.’

Then the air grew silent around me. I heard his voice just as clear as the dawn:

‘Oh, My child, though you are tired and weary, You can’t stop, you have to go on.’

At the foot of the Cross, where I met Him, At the foot of the Cross, where He died,

I felt love, as I knelt in His presence. I felt hope, as I looked in His eyes.

Then He gathered me lovingly to Him, As around us God’s light clearly shone.

And together we walked though my lifetime To heal every wound I had known.

I found bits of my dreams, long forgotten,

And pieces of my life on the floor. But I watched as He tenderly blessed them, And my life was worth living once more.

I knew then why I had been losing.

I knew why I had not grown. At the foot of the Cross came the answer:

I’d been fighting the battle alone.

At the foot of the Cross, where I met Him, At the foot of the Cross, where He died, Then I knew I could face any challenge

Together–just my Lord and I.

Oh, St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you, all my interests and desires. Oh, St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. So that, having engaged here below

your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers. Oh, St. Jo-seph, I never weary of contemplating you and Jesus

asleep in your arms, I dare not approach while He re-poses near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss

His fine head for me and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of

departing souls - Pray for me.

Clocks will spring forward one hour at 2 am Sunday, 3/11/18. It doesn’t mean there’s an extra hour of sunlight, only that sunrise and sunset will happen at later times. If you use

a cell phone as your alarm clock, it will most likely change the time automatically.

directed to married couples.

In marriage, we are called to lay down our lives for one another. We are called to follow Jesus, uniting our sufferings with His. One way to do

to join us on 3/22 at 6:45 PM in Church.

We invite you to belong to our Saint John Bosco Parish Family.

We would love to meet you and would be very happy to have new Parishioners register with us. New Parishioners can register on Registration Weekend 3/24 and 3/25

after all the Masses. Tables will be set up under the tent (weather permitting). Several volunteers will be there to greet you & answer any

questions you may have about Parish Life.

We look forward to counting you among the members of our Saint John Parish Family.

Meatless Recipe for Lent Life without meat can be hard. We barely ever go a day without some form of it, so it may be hard to figure out what to make on Fridays during Lent. We have compiled a list of meatless meals for you to try. No more struggling with what to make. One recipe will be published each week during Lent. This sweet potato lentil chili is full of vegetables and nutrients!

Sweet Potato Lentil Chili Ingredients: 3 carrots, chopped 3 celery stalks, sliced 1 large onion, chopped 1 bell pepper, diced 2 garlic cloves, minced 1 packet chili seasoning 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp ground cumin 1/2 teaspoon paprika 2 sweet potatoes, peeled & cubed 2 cups vegetable broth 3 15 oz cans lentils, rinsed (about 5 cups of pre-soaked lentils) 4 loosely packed cups fresh spinach leaves Salt & pepper to taste, Cilantro, for serving

Instructions: In a large stockpot, heat olive oil to me-dium. Add carrots, celery, onion, bell pepper & garlic. Sauté, stirring occasionally until onions are translucent (about 5 minutes). Stir in chili seasoning & cook for another 1 - 2 minutes. Add sweet potato, vegetable broth & tomatoes. Cover the pot &*simmer for 15 minutes. Add lentils & spinach. Replace cover & con-tinue to simmer for 5 - 10 minutes, or until sweet pota-toes are tender. Simmer for another 5 - 10 minutes, or until chili has reached desired consistency. Serve with fresh cilantro. Enjoy!
