HOLY WEEK AND THE RESUR-RECTION OF THE LORDThe holiest week of the year begins today, Palm Sunday. Activities in the world will go on as usual. People will go about their business, whatever it is. It is up to me as an individual to decide and choose what this Holy Week will be for me. (As it was in the days of Noah and Lot: see Luke 17: 26

30) Last Sunday, after the 1:30 Mass in Span-ish, some members dramatized the Way of the Cross. During the walking and acting, some peo-ple were following but discussing unrelated mat-ters, some were texting, some making phone calls, some children and young adults engaged in sporadic jokes and plays. Those who spent them-selves over several weeks learning and rehears-ing the drama were serious in what they were do-ing. The person who was watching with me made this remark: “This is how it happened when Jesus carried his cross making the journey to Calvary”. It is for us as individuals to decide how involved we want to be in the Church’s Holy Week Liturgi-cal Rites by which we are sanctified. The drama by the Spanish speaking members was good and successful. Please see the Holy Week and Easter schedule in this bulletin, on the Bulletin Boards and on www.sainthenrys.org.

Holy Saturday night is the climax of the Holy Week celebration. It is on that night only that we sing the ‘Exsultet’: “Rejoice, heavenly powers! Sing choirs of angels! Exult, all creation around God’s throne! Jesus Christ, Our King, is risen! Sound the trumpet of salvation….Let this place resound with joy, this is the night… Who will af-ford to be absent when we proclaim the Resurrec-tion of the Lord?

Our celebration of the Lord’s Resurrection contin-ues in the morning and for the next fifty days. A special welcome to all the members of our parish and all our guests! “This is the Day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice together and be glad in it”. Happy Easter!

con el Domingo de Ramos. Las actividades en el mundo continuarán a lo usual. Las personas irán a sus quehaceres. Solo de nosotros depende co-mo individuos el decidir y escoger en esta Sema-na Santa lo que será para cada uno. (Como en los dias de Noe y Lot: Lukas 17: 26 30). El Do-mingo anterior, después de la Misa de la 1:30 en

Crucis. Durante la caminata y la actuaci n, al-gunas personas lo siguireon pero hablaban de cosas muy distintas, otros mandando mensajes y haciendo llamadas telefhaciendo juegos. Aquellos quienes dieron su tiempo en aprender y practicar para el drama fueron serios en su prop sito. La persona junto a mi hizo este comentario: “Esto mimso paso cuan-do Jesús llevaba su cruz en el camino al Cal-vario”. Es de nosotros como individuos el decidir si nos vamos involucrar en la Litúrgia de la iglesia durante ls Semana Santa por la cual somos santi-ficados. El drama de nuestros hermanos His-panos estuvo bueno y con éxito. El Sábado Santo en la noche es el punto cul-minante de la celebraci n de la Semana Santa. St. Henry Church invites our members, families, and friends to come to our parish picnic on Saturday, April 22nd from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. The event is free to attend, with food and raffle tickets available for pur-chase. There will be activities for all ages and inter-ests including:

Free Children’s games: balloon animals, face painting, duck pond, ping pong ball toss, lollipop tree and more. Games are free to play for all chil-dren and tickets are awarded for games played. Tickets can be redeemed for prizes.$1 BINGO games will be played in the back meet-ing room of the parish hall with prizes for the win-ners. Delicious food at will be available for purchase in-cluding hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza, & grilled sau-sage on a bun.

39” LED Flat Screen TV Raffle

St. Henry Church has a new, 39” LED flat screen TV that will be raffled off during our Parish Picnic on April 22nd. Raffle chances are $5 each. Raffle tickets may be purchased in the church office, at the parish picnic, or after Mass this weekend.

We are now accepting Scholarship Applications

St. Henry Church is now accepting scholarship appli-cations for the 2017 2018 school year. Applications are available on line, in the church office or on the shelves in the church. Scholarships will be awarded on Pentecost Sunday to qualified candidates. Dead-line for Completed Applications is Monday, May 22, 2017.
