Parish Mission Statement
One Family
United as members of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, we
are committed, as ONE FAMILY, to be messengers of God’s love and
presence in the world, and to welcome and invite others to become part
of this family and this mission.
One Heart
Called by our Baptism to a life of service in the Lord, we are committed,
with ONE HEART, to live in charity, practice the works of mercy, and work
for peace and justice.
One Faith
Strengthened by God’s Word and nourished by His Sacraments, we are
committed, in ONE FAITH, to promote lives of learning, living, and
proclaiming the Gospel message, as we continue to grow in the
knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of all that embodies these
awe-inspiring truths.
“TITHING IS GOD’S PLAN FOR GIVING”
“I am always so impressed with the generosity of our people.” Msgr. Nicolo “This experience is a small step in helping my family understand the spirit of tithing - which is no less than the spirit of what it means to be ‘Church’ in the first place.”

NIC NOTES
Dear Parishioners,
This past Sunday at the 11:00 AM Mass we celebrated the opening of Catholic Schools Week. It was a beautiful Mass in which the
School Choir added so beautifully to the Liturgy. As I stated in my Homily, I'm so very grateful to Sister Cathe, the faculty and staff of our parish school for all that they do, the many sacrifices they make, to make Catholic education possible and affordable. I also stated that I was deeply grateful for the many sacrifices that the chil-dren's parents in our parish school make to send them to St. Helena School. Nothing com-pares, in my book, to having a Catholic School education. In a true sense, it is the best of both worlds – the Holy Faith and the wisdom of the World. I also thanked all of our parishioners who are so very faithful and generous to the Sunday Collection that allows us to assist our Parish school in its mission of forming future leaders. I also invited all of our parishioners, if they have children in our school or not, to make it a point to check out the Church Bulletin/Parish Website/School Website to see the many activities that they are most welcome to attend during Catholic Schools Week. I am very grateful for my parents who sent me to Catholic School. I had a wonderful education as well as a wonderful experience in Catholic school. I reminded the children who attend our Catholic school how blessed they are to receive a Catholic education. I also let them know that when I attended Catholic school in the city there were always over 100 children in a classroom. I marvel at how those Sisters were able to edu-cate us in such a wonderful fashion. It was their dedication to the Faith and the spreading of the Faith and the grace of God that allowed them and empowered them. Today, it is the Faith and the spreading of the Faith and the grace of God that allows and empowers our teachers to do the same. I am quite sure that everyone of our parishion-ers as well as guests who visited our Parish school this past week was very impressed to see all the wonderful things happening in our
school. So many people mentioned to me their delight at seeing what was happening in the school as well as how happy the children were who attended our school. Once again I want to thank each and every one of you who helped to make Catholic education possible here at St. Helena Parish. May God, through the intercession of St. Helena,
bless us.
Love and Prayers, Msgr. Nicolo

KEN’S CACHE
The Thirteenth Century produced a wealth of hymns and prayers, few more popular in their time than Stabat Mater, a poetic chant of such vivid spir-itual and lyrical character as to stir the talents of composers of the stature of Palestrina, Pergolesi, Hadyn, Ramondi and Rossini. Stabat Mater has been ascribed to Sts. Gregory the Great, Bernard of Clairvaux and Bonaventure, among others, but chances are that the Franciscan, Jacopone da Todi (1220-1306) is the true author.
It was commonly chanted during the Stations of the Cross devotion, and it provided the sequence in the old Latin Mass for the Feast of the Seven Dolors (Sorrows) of the Blessed Virgin. Stabat Mater divid-ed into three parts and thus provides the office hymns at vespers, matins and lauds on the feast.
The vespers section with the title words opens:
Stabat Mater dolorosa Next the cross in tears unceasing Juxta crucam sacrymosa Worn by sorrow aye increasing Dum pendebat Filius Stood the Mother ‘neath her Son.
Stabat Mater continues with a lengthy, prayerful recapitulation in triplets of the emotions that had to be Mary’s at Calvary. The poetry is charged in pow-er, and becomes even more gripping in effective combination with solemn music. The German poet Johann Tieck, for instance, said that on hearing Gio-vanni Pergolesi’’s Stabat he “had to turn away to hide my tears,” especially when the music combined with the words:
Vidit suum dulcem natum She beheld her dear Begotten Moriendo desolatum Stretched in death by all forgotten Dum emisit spiritum As on hoisted rood he hung.
God Bless You,
Deacon Ken

STEM is very much alive in KW! One of our dads, Todd Rose, was our Engineer in Resi-dence. He showed the children how real bridg-es are made and how they need a strong foun-dation! The children developed plans and de-cided how they wanted their final product to look! Looks like lots of artists and construction engineers made the KW Tower Bridge com-plete! And a fine group of hard workers we have!! Great job, KW! Have a wonderful week!

This year, Mary Ciammetti is our guest speaker. Mary is a local mother of four who never imagined she could lose a child as a result of alcohol poisoning. However, after en-gaging in a night of heavy drinking at college, Mary and her family had to say goodbye to their youngest son, Chris-tian, a LaSalle College High School grad and Temple Uni-versity junior. Inspired by faith and hope, Mary has turned her family's grief into an educational mission. Through her program "Don't Stall, Just Call," Mary has traveled to area high schools and colleges to offer lifesav-ing education about the signs of alcohol poisoning, and to raise awareness about the drinking culture. Her reach has been broad - hundreds have heard Christian's story and learned how to make the call to save a friend's life.
Please join us Sunday, March 5th and bring your daugh-ters, granddaughters and nieces to hear Mary speak. After the brunch, please share Mary’s message with everyone you know. You could save a life.

SPIRITUAL ADOPTION
MONTH 5 - MOMMY FELT ME KICK TODAY!
Your spiritually adopted baby weighs over one pound now, and his mother can feel his/her movement. Before this time he/she was too small for her to feel. Alt-hough he/she swam with ease in his/her watery world, he/she needed to be big and strong enough to kick hard against the outside wall and dent it - the inside wall of the uterus has little feeling. We are midway through the preg-nancy now. Your prayers have helped your ba-by’s mother continue with her pregnancy and seek the help she needs. O my Jesus, by the intercession of Mary, Your mother, who bore You so lovingly and of St. Jo-seph, strong man of faith, who protected You both, I pray to You for the life of the unborn child I have spiritually adopted, who is in dan-ger of abortion. Please give the parents of this child the grace and courage they need to bring their baby to birth. Amen.
St. Martha Cleaners Seeking Volunteers We welcome additional volun-teers to assist us with light
housekeeping in our beautiful and sacred Church and Chapel. We will be losing one of our valued cleaners in about a month due to family commitments, and another cleaner may have to reduce the hours she works in the near future. Volunteers usually work with a partner for 2 hours one Friday a month from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Volunteers may begin earlier if they choose, since the doors will be open from 6:30 a.m. If you would like additional information, please contact Marlene Jefferys at 610-804-2840, or email her at [email protected].

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT….
Sometimes we may wonder if our lights are bright enough for any-one to benefit from them. What-ever happens, we must not lose hope or give up. Remember, the stars in the sky may seem tiny and very far away, but travelers depend on them to find their way. Just like the stars up in the sky, we don’t always know who’s watching us or using our light to guide them on their way.
Let’s stay as close as we can to Je-sus, and trust Him for the results.
