HAPPENING IN OUR DIOCESE

Knights of Columbus Bingo Night will be this Friday, September 10th.

Doors open at 5:00 p.m. with warm-up games starting at 6:30 p.m. The $22 buy-in pack includes 3 warm-up games, 8 regular games; which includes the Hot Ball, and a blackout game. Additional packs may be purchased for $9 each. Bonanza and Double Action games are available for $1 each.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, tuna sandwiches/salads, French fries, beer, wine and sodas can be purchased. The event is open to the public. You must be 21 to play.

Invitation to Inquiry Sessions ANY ADULT interested in receiving the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, First Eucharist, Confirmation) into the Catholic Church is in-vited to attend inquiry sessions beginning September 19th at 9:15 AM. Meetings will take place in the Corinthians classroom in the Religious Education Department.

Inquiry sessions are conducted by the Rite of Christian Initiation Ministry (RCIA).

If you are a practicing Catholic who would like to be trained, we always need new team members to help us welcome those coming home. We have a program called Landings to help you transition and understand the changes that have happened since you left. It is a commitment of 6 - 8 weeks, meeting once a week with a trained team of practicing Catholics and returning Catholics. Installation Mass of the Most Reverend Bishop Daniel Mueggenborg, Eighth Bishop of Reno, Friday September 24th 2:00 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima. It is the goal of the Diocese of Reno to have

representatives from all parishes attend the Installation Mass of Bishop Mueggenborg. However, we are limited

to church capacity, therefore attendance will be by invitation only. Parishes will have a determined

number of tickets available to them shortly.

============================================= Most Rev. Daniel Mueggenborg was born and raised in rural Oklahoma. He attended Oklahoma State University and received a B.S. in Geology before beginning seminary studies at the Pontifical North American College in Rome where he earned both his S.T.B. in Theology and S.T.L. in Biblical Theology from the Gregorian University. He was ordained to the Priesthood in 1989 and has served in a variety of ministries including assignments as Chaplain to Bishop Kelley High School, Director of the St. Philip Newman Center at the University of Tulsa, Pastor of the Church of the Madalene (Tulsa) and St. Clement of Rome (Bixby), and seminary formation as Vice Rector of the Pontifical North American College. He served as Pastor of the historic Parish of Christ the King in Tulsa, Oklahoma and on various boards of Catholic institutions including the Board of Directors for Saint John Health System (Ascension Healthcare) and Catholic Charities of Tulsa, the Advancement Advisory Team for the Pontifical North American College. He recently authored a three volume set of discipleship reflections on the Sunday Gospel readings entitled Come Follow Me (Gracewing, London). FOCUS Missionaries and the Parish of Christ the King are currently working together to develop a model for parish-based evangelization and discipleship formation that can benefit the larger Church. He enjoys mountain biking and hiking. On April 6, 2017, he was appointed by Pope Francis as an Auxiliary Bishop in Seattle and was ordained to the Episcopacy on May 31, 2017 in St. James Cathedral. Bishop Mueggenborg will be installed on September 24 in a liturgy with the Metropolitan, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco, presiding and in the presence of Archbishop Christophe Pierre, the Apostolic Nuncio—Pope Francis’ representative to the United States. Until the installation, Bishop Randolph Calvo will assume the duty of caretaker, having been appointed Apostolic Administrator by Pope Francis In recent years, Bishop Muggenborg has been answering questions about our faith in the Northwest Catholic column called, “Ask a Bishop”. Congratulations on this important step in his ministry to the people of God.
