ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON CATHOLIC CHURCH † PG 3

Bishop's Appeal - Home Contact begins this week God bless the many who have responded in supporting the Catholic Faith and God's Work here at our Parish and Diocese. Although we have not yet met our goal of $322,405.61. I am still so very thankful. God guide us and bless us. Welcome to the Saints!! - Word on the Street... There's a rumor that many Saints from Heaven will be visiting our Parish this weekend. If this happens, welcome them with great joy! The Month of November - Praying for the Faithful Departed

Although it can be done every day of the year, the month of November recalls the good we can offer to those who have gone before us in physical death, and are in need of God's Mercy and purification. These are the Souls who WILL ATTAIN HEAVEN but have not yet. The Holy Spirit has guided the Church to see the value, goodness and charity offered in our praying for the dead. Special Book to Pray - for those who have physically died

Please place the names of loved ones who have died in the special book near the statue of Mary (up front, right of Altar). My intention through the month of November will be to remember

these people at every Mass I celebrate. Holy Mass in Remembrance - This Thursday 6:30 pm

Every November we remember in prayer and love those of our Parish who have physically died this past year. All of the Parish are invited to take part. May all those who have gone before us be remembered in our daily prayer! All are invited to the Parish Hall afterwards to hear Deacon Jim Tighe and his wife Pat speak on grieving through the holidays. Vote Vote Vote - This Tuesday

It drives me crazy when I hear how few take the time to vote, yet it seems that a good 97% complain about who gets elected! Study the candidates. Vote for the men and women who BEST represent the mind of Jesus Christ for the good of children, community and Nation. Ask the question: "Who would Christ vote for?" 33 Days to Morning Glory Begins - this Tuesday, Nov. 5 10 Steps to Success: 1. Desire to become Holy 2. Pick up book 3. Offer a simple prayer asking God to help you these next 33 days 4. Begin each day thinking: "when can I find 7 minutes to read" 5. Put book on your favorite chair or beside your bed 6. Have a pen or pencil to underline and write comments 7. relax and enjoy reading...don't sweat stuff you don't understand 8. Watch video after 7 days https://watch.formed.org/hearts-afire-parish-programs-with-fr-michael-gaitley.

9. Play "catch up on reading" if needed 10. Realize you are learning from some of the greatest Saints!

Consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary will take place on the weekend of Dec. 8 Let's encourage one another! Watch the Video - 33 Days - Helping us understand Mary - Come and watch the video and support one another on Wednesday, November 6 at 10am in the Mother Teresa room or 7pm in the Parish Hall. ATTENTION: - Miscarriage or Infant Loss

On Sunday, November 24, after the 9:30 am Mass, I am inviting all Moms and Dads (young and old) who have faced the death of their loved one by miscarriage, infant loss or stillborn, to come together and form a support group. This first meeting is just to see who is interested. It won't last longer than 20 minutes...getting names, best time to meet and a prayer asking God to bless all. We will start promptly at 10:45 am, in the Mother Teresa room. "My Lord, the baby is dead! Why, my Lord, dare I ask why? It will not hear the whisper of the wind or see the beauty of its parents' face. it will not see the beauty of Your creation or the flame of a sunrise. Why, my Lord? "Why, My child, do you ask 'why'? Well, I will tell you why. You see, the child lives. Instead of the wind he hears the sound of angels singing before My throne. Instead of the beauty that passes he sees everlasting Beauty, he sees My face. He was created and lived a short time so the image of his parents imprinted on his face may stand before Me as their personal intercessor. He knows secrets of heaven unknown to men on earth. He laughs with a special joy that only the innocent possess. My ways are not the ways of man. I create for My Kingdom and each creature fills a place in that Kingdom that could not be filled by another. He was created for My joy and his parents' merits. He has never seen pain or sin. He has never felt hunger or pain. I breathed a soul into a seed, made it grow and called it forth." I am humbled before you, my Lord, for questioning Your wisdom, goodness, and love. I speak as a fool, forgive me. I acknowledge Your sovereign rights over life and death. I thank You for the life that began for so short a time to enjoy so long an Eternity."- written by Mother Angelica EWTN

31ST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, NOVEMBER 3, 2019 † PG 6

“Marriage is an adventure of a lifetime. Many times the adventure is absolutely wonderful, like when a couple is blessed to experience the fruits of their marriage in children being born, being baptized, receiving their first communion, graduating, being responsible members of society, helping those who are less fortunate, living their faith, being in loving relationships of their own...and the best fruit of all receiving GRANDCHILDREN! Other times the adventure gets difficult, really difficult sometimes: like when someone gets cancer or when you disagree about money or exactly what the best way is to raise your children because you were raised

differently. But what I have learned is if you can “tough out” these difficult times and rely on God’s grace, He will bless you and make your marriage stronger as a result of going through it. It may not feel like a blessing at the time, but you will definitely see it when you look back on the great adventure that you began together on the day you said “I do.” ~ Carole Yaney

“My marriage has been a blessing in my life, I would not have imagined it any other way. Without it, I would be missing the best part of myself, my husband. Even though when I got married I was career oriented and that influenced me so much in my life decisions, I never imagined not being married. It is wonderful to have the companionship, patience and support of someone that I know will always be there for me in when I am in a good place and also at my worst. Without my marriage I would not have had my wonderful sons – something else I can’t imagine my life without. They bring so much to my life and make me a better person. My best piece of advice is not to sweat the small stuff. Sometimes it is easy to get wrapped up in the little petty things, but really, in the end it is not worth it.” ~ Kim Conte

“I grew up never having to doubt that I was loved as my parents marriage taught me the beauty of love and sacrifice through their marriage. They encouraged their kids to have a life of Faith and were not afraid to share their Faith with us. As I discerned my Vocation, I was never afraid to tell my mom and dad that I was discerning Consecrated Life. I knew as long as I desired to do the will of God they would support me no matter what.” ~ Trisha Trout

My marriage is a little different than most in the sense that I am married to a non-Catholic, non-Baptized man. So how do we make it work? First, we came into this marriage with enough love for each other to know this was a life time commitment. We wanted children and never would we ever separate ourselves from them by even thinking about divorce. Second, we respect each other enough to acknowledge that we have two different beliefs. My husband knew before we were married that I, if not we, would raise our children in the Catholic Faith and he supported me completely. Third, we forgive each other when we make mistakes. Forgiveness is key in all relationships because we are not yet perfect. Marriage is so much like God’s love for us. God’s love for us is eternal, He respects our choices by giving us free will and forgives us when we fail. ~ Sue Ogg

I often have commented that I was lost until I met my wife Kara. I certainly think it was God’s plan that we are together. I like the thought that a couple is to help each other get to heaven. What more important vocation can there be than that. ~ Rob Slocum

“My "call" to Priesthood began in four simple seeds being planted by my Dad and Mom and their Marriage. Seed 1: My Dad and Mom did not care if I was Married or became a Priest or Religious, rather they stressed the need to LISTEN to GOD and follow His Call. Seed 2: My Dad and Mom had Priests and Religious over to the house just for short visits Seed 3: When I mentioned the idea of becoming a Priest they were supportive (not pushy). Seed 4: My Mom and Dad were involved in the Parish. We never missed Sunday Mass and had regular Confession. I remember my Dad as Lector at Sunday Mass.” ~ Fr. Dave

The Vocation of Marriage e — ——————The Birthplace of all Vocationsnnsnnnnssnnnnsss

This week, we celebrate National Vocations week. While the Vocations we most often talk about are Priesthood and the Consecrated Life, none of these are possible without the beautiful Vocation of

Marriage, a Vocation where God calls many and would not want us to ignore! So this week, we asked our St. Elizabeth parish staff to give their own testimonies to the Vocation of Marriage.

Our staff after renewing their vows as they all celebrated their 30th wedding anniversaries within five months of

each other.
