We bless palm branches today, recalling Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem,

the holy city. It is a bittersweet remembrance because we know that no sooner

had he celebrated the Passover meal with his disciples than he was arrested,

tried, convicted, and put to death. But Jerusalem is more than the site of his

crucifixion. It is also the site of his resurrection. Through his sacrifice we all

hope to one day reach the eternal Jerusalem.

GOSPEL EXPLORATION

TUESDAY LIVE ON FACEBOOK AT 6:30 pm

This is a multi-media journey through the Gospel Readings for the coming Sunday. Discussions en-courage a deeper understanding of our Gospel. Discussions can be joined and followed on facebook live at St. Denis Church.

DOUGLAS FOOD PANTRY REMAINS OPEN FOR ANYONE IN NEED

Even though we are limited in our interaction with each other, there are still ways to help our neighbors in need. The Douglas Food Pantry, located here at St. Denis Rectory, is open for anyone in town that is in need. Thank you to all who have been donating bags of food, Douglas School Dept. sharing their abundance with us and for our volunteers who have given their time to help others. We have added an extra day during the week to accommodate and alle-viate the numbers of families coming at the same time. Current hours are: MONDAY FROM 4-6 PM; WEDNESDAY FROM 1-3 PM AND SATURDAY FROM NOON –2 PM.

SPIRITUAL

COMMUNION

How do you make a Spiritual Communion? Begin by examining your conscience and making a good Act of Contrition. “My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there, and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.”

A Spiritual Communion can never fully take the place of receiving Holy Communion at Mass, but in these extraordinary times it can help us to stay close to Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament of his Body and Blood.

DRIVE-THRU PALM DISTRIBUTION

Since we are not able to gather together for Palm Sunday Mass, St. Denis will be passing

out palms that have been blessed at Mass. ON SUNDAY APRIL 5TH FROM 11 AM—12:30 PM, you can drive thru the church parking lot, volunteers will be handing out the palms.

24 HOUR—DAY OF PRAYER

Our Parish has chosen Holy Thursday, April 9th from 12 noon to Good Friday, April 13th at 12 noon as our 24 hour day to pray in this particular way. We are asking you to consider taking one hour on that day to pray from home. It could be by yourself or with your fami-ly. Check out the email online for times available and suggestions for guided prayer. This time of pan-demic must also be a time of prayer. As Catholics, our part is not just isolating ourselves through social distancing, adapting and carrying on with the duties of our state in life. As Catholics, our part is also to unite ourselves in prayer for the sick, our nation and the world. Circumstances prevent us from physically uniting around the altar to celebrate the Sacraments, but they do not prevent us from prayer. May our fervent prayer unite us as one flock under one Shepherd --- the crucified and Risen Lord who is the hope of us all.

HOLY THURSDAY ADORATION FROM YOUR CAR

On the Night of Holy Thursday you may also drive to Church and park your car facing the Gathering Room where the Lord will be placed for adoration and spend some time in prayer from your car. The Lord will be there from 8:30 pm to Midnight.

Jesus died for you to redeem you by His blood and to free you from sin. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice, so that we might have life. This week as we approach Easter Sunday, how can you thank God for dying for you? Think about how you can honor and remember His sacrifice in the coming days.

EASTER BLESSING

Fr. Juan and Deacon Pat will be on the steps of the Church for anyone who would like to come and receive an Easter

Blessing. Come on Sunday April 12 from 11:30 am to 1 pm.

Although today may not be filled with the glorious gatherings, deli-cious brunches, and family Easter egg hunts we're accustomed to, Jesus Christ has still conquered the grave, and no virus, cancellations, or any circumstance can change that. Let us rejoice in this most important day! Try to find joy in the small blessings--the sunshine and blooming flowers--and also in the hope we have knowing our savior has conquered death. Our church is praying for you, and we look forward to gathering together again soon!

"He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said." - Matthew 28:6

Hello Friends and Parishioners of St Denis Church!

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks in the world which has definitely made us change our way of doing things, at least for the time being. However, in this time of disarray there’s one constant in our lives we can count on and that’s our Faith that God will get us through this. As we approach this holy time in our church remember to look at both Facebook and Flocknote for messages of hope and strength to help guide you through-out your day. Watch one of Father’s Holy Hours or a Mass on Facebook to keep connected and brighten your spirits. The Stewardship Committee members wish to extend positive thoughts and blessings to all of you and our prayers that every-one stays healthy and safe, until we can gather together again. We look forward to rescheduling the St. Patrick’s Day Dinner and we wish you all a blessed Holy Week and Easter. Many blessings and virtual hugs to all as we move forward into another week, St Denis Parish Stewardship Committee.

2020 Partners in Charity Appeal

Once a year, we commit ourselves to this

ongoing work by supporting this life

giving appeal. We reflect on God’s great

generosity and respond with generous

giving of our own. With your support,

faith in action is visible every day in the

compassionate outreach of Catholic

Charities, to the least among us; in

prayerful witness of our retired priest and

the joy of new priestly vocations; to the

many diocesan ministries and programs

that heal, teach and care for others.

It is important for all of us to participate

in order to support our mission as a

diocese. Please be as generous as

possible. If you have already made a gift

to the 2020 appeal we thank you! Your

gift will help us in reaching our parish

goal.

Please make your gift online at:
