PopeFrancishasdeclaredinhisletter‘AperuitIllis’thatthisSundayistobedevotedtotheWordofGod.OurBishopsinEnglandandWaleshavededicatedtheentireyeartotheWordofGodcallingit“TheGodWhoSpeaks”.Throughoutthisyearwewillfocuson…CelebratingGod’sWordLivingGod’sWordSharingGod’sWordWecelebrateGod’sWordespeciallywhenwecometogetherforEucharist:thefirstpartoftheMassistheLiturgyoftheWord.TheChurchteachesusthatweshouldvenerateGod’sWordjustasweveneratetheBodyandBloodofChrist(DeiVerbum21),sothisweekwearemakingaspecialefforttodothis.However,participationinEucharistonSundaydoeslittleforusifwedonotlivebyGod’swordeachday,handingitonandsharingitwiththepeoplewemeet.Aswecometotheendofthisyear’sweekofprayerforChristianunity,letusprayforallourlocalChristianChurchesandseekwaystoworkwiththemincelebrating,livingandsharingGod’sWord.

PASTORALAREAMISSIONPLANLastSeptemberrepresentativesfromthefiveparishesinourPastoralAreacametogether,asdirectedbyBishopPeter,toreflectprayerfullyontheneedsandopportunitieswithinourcommunityandtoidentifyanumberoflocalprojects.Gettingareal“grassroots”perspectiveonourstrengthsandneedsaswellashearingfromawiderangeofvoiceswithlocalknowledgeandexperienceenabledustoexploreideasfromdifferentperspectives.Fourareasoffocuswereidentifiedandprioritised:Liturgy,Welcoming&SocialCommunity,Children&YouthandCommunications.Workinggroupsneedtobequicklyestablishedforeachoftheseprojects.Ifyoufeelpassionateaboutanyoftheseareas,haveanopenheartaboutnewwaysofworkingandhavesometimeandenergytosupportus,we’dliketohearfromyou.PleasecontactDeaconPeterorDeaconDavidifyouwouldliketobeinvolved.Thereflections,findingsandinitiativesidentifiedduringtheReflectionDaywillbeusedtoproduceaMissionPlanforourPastoralArea.Thisneedstobereadybymid-March,aheadofagatheringofallPastoralAreason28MarchwithBishopPeterandBishopElectDavid.
MessagefromFrAlessandro..IhavebeenvisitingthenewparishcommunityofPedernalesaccompaniedbyFrGeovannyandseeingtheprogressontheprojectsthatdonationsfromIHMandStColumba'shavebeensupporting.Thenewroofandfirstcatechesisroomwithfurtherworkafterthelastdonationof$200dollarsgiven.Donationsofthe$200weregiventoSrIsabelina'sorphanageandalsotheSistersofCottolengo.
