High School Program Director Needed Alex Rigney is stepping down from overseeing the Teen Service Corps program at St. Cecilia Parish. We are searching for a new individual to continue a pro-gram for high school students in our parish going for-ward. We are looking for someone who can bring new ideas to the program to ensure the long-term success of engaging our high school student parishioners. If you are interested, please contact Alex Rigney at 267-229-7407.

The Knights of Columbus is an international Order of Catholic men who are called to lead with faith, pro-tect our families, serve others and defend values in a busy changing world. Our local council Fr. Thomas J. F. Ryan #5036 held a membership drive and we might have missed you. Whether you become an individual member or a member of our council, you will find that Knights of Columbus membership brings Catholic men together in a powerful way. If you would like to join today, simply go to KofC.org/joinus and enter our coun-cil #5036 for local information.

Fifth Sunday of Lent April 7, 2019

FOCUS: God is always doing something new—he is mercy and forgiveness for those who seek him.

Today’s psalm speaks of the great things that God has done. Among them is his giving us the promise to forgive all who come before him with true contri-tion and who seek his mercy. Through and in Jesus we have the ability to do this, and when we do, we allow God to “re-create” in us—to do something new in us.

LITURGY OF THE WORD: Isaiah assures the people of Israel that the Lord is doing something new. St. Paul professes to the community at Philippi that he considers all things as loss in com-parison to knowing Jesus Christ and pursuing the goal of attaining the resurrection of the dead. In the Gospel, Jesus saves from stoning, and forgives, the woman caught in adultery.

REFLECTION: Paul knew the work of rebirth was not yet complete in himself. Which we too have become aware of again this Lent – more needs to be done in us. We know this – Christ knows it too. He is not ready to condemn, but because of our union in him, Christ promises to finish the work of salvation begun in us.

So we ask ourselves: What do you think Paul means by "the prize of

God’s upward calling?"

What "higher calling" have we heard this Lent for our lives?

Manna Food Drive—New Date in April PLEASE NOTE: We will be collecting non-perishable food items the LAST WEEKEND in April because of Easter falling on the third Sunday this month. Please bring food the weekend of April 27-28. Thank you for your generosity and God bless you for thinking of others.

Easter Flowers We will gratefully accept any offerings toward the cost of the Easter Flowers for the Church. Flower envelopes are available at the entrances of Church or place your donations in an envelope, write the name of loved ones on the envelope, and drop it in the collection basket or the Rectory mailbox. The names will be placed on the altar during the Octave of Easter.
