  • Dress up for World Book Day – 1st March

Get ready for World Book Day, when children are invited to dress as a ‘ comic book superhero’ of their own invention. There’s no need to spend a fortune – think about the superpowers you’d like and get creative during the half-term holiday. X-ray vision? Make pretend glasses from cardboard! The power to fly? Grab some ma-terial for a cape! Got a superhero name? Put your initials onto your chest! We’re promoting the fact that children can enjoy reading that comes in all different styles – and that includes comics and magazines too. On the day we’ll be enjoying lots of fun activities, such as making comics, designing superheroes, and coming up with action-packed language for our stories!

St Augustine’s United Year 5/6 are learning how we are ‘united’ by our faith – and have produced some eye-catching artwork to illustrate it. These colourful stained glass windows are on display outside our classroom, and the collage of portraits in the shape of the cross is in our prayer area.

  • Spellings are rewarding! Courtney scored an amazing 90 out of 100 in this week’s ‘Immense Spelling Test’, which com-prised the Y5/6 tricky words. She’ll now have 90 tickets to put into the class’s Easter Prize Raffle, giving her a great chance of winning. In fact, thanks to their amazing maths skills, the class will also be working out the odds of each of them winning the top prize! Courtney Tilley with the tricky words she spelled

Keep reading for the 1000-Book Challenge!

We’re well on the way to succeeding in our 1000-Book Challenge – with the whole school helping to reach this target by the end of term. Make sure you’re reading at home and in school, and telling your teacher every time you finish anoth-er book. Here are Florensa and Liam doing their bit for the Reading Challenge

Swinging into action with WWII dance steps

World War II will be re-enacted through dance by Year 5/6 this term. On Thursday afternoons they’ll be learning how to Charleston, Swing and other 1940s favourites – so make sure they teach you the moves at home too! Here are Y5/6 pupils warming up with some soldier moves

  • The Elephants had a fantastic time making an elephant dur-ing their felt workshop and

the Giraffe class made a col-ourful Giraffe.

I think you will agree that it has turned out fantastic!

Pictures will soon be displayed for everyone to enjoy.

Match Report Last night we played against Ryhall Primary school. We played an awesome match winning 4.0. This week man of the match was Kuba. We all played well together.
