School News We wanted to share wonderful and exciting news with everyone. The New England Association of Schools and Colleges has re-accredited our school! This means that our school has been designated as an educational institution that provides academic excellence and high-quality educational experiences. The article below appeared in the June 26th edition of the Catholic Free Press.
Work for Accreditation Bears Fruit
St. Anna Elementary School has received its accreditation renewal from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The quest for accreditation began in 2019. Teachers and staff worked diligently to complete the process last fall.
NEASC commended them for bringing their best efforts to the self-study process despite significant staffing changes since the spring of 2019. The school was commended for achieving financial stability and for its small community feel, Catholic identity, and resilience and hard work for this process.
Prior to its re-accreditation, St. Anna's faced many new changes in staffing and enrollment. This year it welcomed Father Carlos Ruiz, the new pastor of St Anna Parish.
With the onset of remote learning, St. Anna's was up and running, creating new and innovative ways to continue the students’ education while keeping it engaging and interactive.
St Anna's will work on providing more professional
development opportunities for its teachers and continue to
strive to offer a remarkable education, whether in or outside
of the building.
14th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Readings: 1st: Zec 9, 9-10; Ps 145, 2-3.4-9; 2nd Rom 8, 9. 11-13 Gos Mtt 11, 25-30 Every day is a new opportunity to enjoy the gift of life, to
be good and do good. However, we also face difficulties
and trials. There are times in which we face spiritual or
emotional battles. Some days are more difficult than others;
some weeks seem to be endless and harder than others. It is
here at this very moment in which Jesus like a faithful and
kind friend looks at us with love and compassion and says,
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I
will give you rest, and you will find rest for yourselves”
These words mean "rest," not in the sense of cessation from
work and difficult days, but in the sense of peace of soul,
joy and profound happiness in the midst of all situations.
Jesus does not promise to take away the burdens, the trials,
the sufferings. But if we take his yoke upon ourselves, if
we submit to his plan, his will, his love, he guarantees the
comfort and consolation we all probably need. We should
always ask for the strength to preserve God’s rest, peace,
and joy despite our circumstances. This is the rest that we
all long for, the rest that will one day be uninterrupted in
heaven.
Here we are called to be humble, and recognize our need of
help and strength that only come from our Creator. We
should surrender completely to the protection of our Savior.
After every difficult day and during every hard journey, we
have a comforting place to go, to be renewed. This beauti-
ful place is no other than the Kingdom of God. Here we
find the loving hands of Jesus, his refreshing food, the Eu-
charist. It is here where we find rest, it is here where we
find what we truly need, it is here where we experience the
saving and loving presence of our most faithful and loving
Friend.
Let us go to the deep of our hearts and let us give to Je-
sus our troubles, pain, hard days of work, personal is-
sues, some difficulties at home, and let us allow Jesus to
embrace us with his refreshing and healing power, his
saving and comfortable love. Let us feel the embrace of
Jesus and how he takes upon himself all our burdens.
