QURBONO The Book of Offering

THE STRUCTURE OF THE NEW MARONITE QURBONO

The Internal Order

The Incensation

The celebrant incenses the altar, prepared for the sacrifice

with the offerings now placed upon it. As for the previous

incensation, at the prayer of forgiveness (Hoosoyo) during the

Service of the Word, it was performed outside the context of

the altar and the offerings. The incensation is accompanied by

a hymn of commemoration, the incense hymn, "Lover of

those who repent", another hymn, such as Salatookee Ma'na

(May your prayer be with us...), or some other hymn.

The Anaphora

Anaphora is a Greek word meaning " the offering" or "the

Qurbono". It means here the compilation of Eucharistic

prayers and actions; it starts with the rite of peace, through

the consecration and communion until the conclusion of the

service. This second part of the Qurbono is known today by

the name anaphora. According to our Syriac Maronite

tradition, its prayers vary; they are attributed to the Twelve

Apostles, or one of the apostles or evangelists, or one of the

forefathers or patriarchs or a noted bishop. The number of

anaphoras exceeds seventy in the overall Syriac tradition.

Prayer of the Week

PRAYER TO

SAINT CHARBEL MAKHLOUF

Lord, infinitely Holy and Glorified in Your

Saints, You have inspired Charbel, the saint

monk, to lead the perfect life of a hermit.

We thank You for granting him the blessing

and the strength to detach himself from the world

so that the heroism of the monastic virtues of

poverty, obedience, and chastity, could triumph in

his hermitage.

We beseech You to grant us the grace of loving and

serving You, following his example.

Almighty God, Who has manifested

the power of St. Charbel's intercession

through his countless miracles and favours, grant

us...

(State your intention(s) here...)

through his intercession.

Amen.

Our Father...

Hail Mary...

Glory Be...

4- Spiritual Gift of Fortitude or Courage

Fortitude is the gift of courage that helps us stand

firm in our faith. It strengthens the soul helping us to

overcome any obstacle that gets in the way of

practicing our faith.

We are grateful for your contributions

Your financial support makes a difference

Points of Interest Feast Day of St. Ann Please mark your calendars and join us as we celebrate the Feast of

St Ann on Friday, July 26:

This year’s chicken bbq will be prepared by our neighbors

at the Black Bear Inn. Dinner is $12 and includes 1/2

chicken, coleslaw, baked beans, cookie and a drink. Eat in

or take out from 4 to 6 pm.

Divine Liturgy follows at 6:30 pm.

Feast Day of St Charbel: On Saturday & Sunday July 20 – 21, we will celebrate the Feast of

St. Charbel. Following the Divine Liturgy, everyone will be

anointed with holy oil from St. Charbel’s tomb and go in

procession to his shrine in front of the rectory for a final blessing.

Please bring your families, friends and neighbors, especially those

who are sick.

Prayer Requests: Our heavenly father asks us to “Pray for one another” (James 5:16)

and we are happy to join you in praying for your specific need. A

book has been placed on a desk at the top of the main staircase.

Please write your intention and the date in the book, or email us at

[email protected] “Pray to me, and I will listen

to you” (Jeremiah 29; 12)

St. Charbel, The Movie: EWTN - Saturday, July 20 at 8pm

The film traces the life of St. Charbel, from infancy to death. It
