Solemn Feast of the Baptism of the Lord

A Blessed Christmas Season! The Church’s formal Christmas season comes to its completion with this feast of Baptism of the Lord, January 10, 2021. The celebration of Christmas should always remain in our hearts throughout the year. Christmas gives us the continual message of hope that “they will call Him Emmanuel (which means, “God is with us”). (Matt 1:23b). The Church celebrates the birth of Christ to remember that God has come to be one with us and to save us, for “he [Joseph] gave Him the name Jesus” (Matt 1:25b) Jesus name means Yahweh saves. God saves us through His Son Jesus, and Jesus gives us the Sacraments to show His saving power remains with us. So it is appropriate that Christmas Season ends with this Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. For through baptism, we enter into the saving power of God. May you have a Blessed Feast Day and always keep Christmas alive in your heart. I send my Christmas blessing to you, your family, and your loved ones.

    Peace, Fr. Will

    Pastoral Notes by Fr. Will

Change in Mass location for two masses – On Sunday, January 17, 2021, we will have two indoor masses, one at each of our churches.

Saint Alphonsus at 7:00 a.m. Saint Alexis at 8:00 a.m.

We welcome Fr. Tom Sparacino, Fr. Ken Marlovits, and Fr. Steve Neff along with several Seminarians on Sunday, January 17 at the 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Masses.

Indoor/Outdoor Mass survey - We will continue to collect your responses to our survey for indoor/outdoor masses. After that is complete, I will prayerfully discern a balance of indoor/outdoor mass schedule based on need.

March for Life - This year's annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. is on Friday, January 29, 2021. I apologize that we will not be sponsoring a bus this year due to COVID-19.

Mass for Life – so that our parish may participate in the defense of all human life, we will have a special Vigil Mass of Life on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. at Saint Alphonsus Church. We will join millions of Catholics, Christians, and people of goodwill, who will pray that day to protect all human life and dignity.

Feast Day of Saint Aidan – Sunday, January 31, 2021, marks our new parish's first feast day under Saint Aidan of Ferns' patronage. All of our masses will be honoring Saint Aidan. We will also have a Holy Hour with Eucharistic Adoration and Solemn Evening Prayer at 4:00 p.m. at Saint Alphonsus Church. I invite you to come to celebrate with us the First Feast Day of our parish. Saint Aidan, pray for us.

Saint Aidan Indoor/Outdoor Mass Survey On the weekend of January 16 and 17, Saint Aidan's will begin indoor Sunday Mass for the 7:00 a.m. (Saint Alphonsus) and 8:00 a.m. (Saint Alexis) Masses. Attendance at these Mass times will be limited because of safety measures, while Mass will continue to be broadcast over the radio (FM 89.5) whether indoor or outdoor. A livestream option for Sunday will continue as well.

To better gauge the desire for future indoor and outdoor celebrations at Saint Aidan, please make sure that you go to the website to take the survey or get a paper copy from the parking attendants, and also in the foyer of the Parish Center with your preference. You can also use a QR reader by scanning this on your phone to take you to the survey. If you have already completed

the survey, we thank you for being a part of this endeavor.

All surveys are due back by Monday, January, 11.

  • WE PRAY FOR THE SICK
