SAINIK SCHOOL CHITTORGARH 1 NEWS LETTER 2018-19 Investiture Ceremony The investiture ceremony marked a significant beginning of the new academic session, 2018-19. It is a ceremony where onus of the smooth functioning of the school is given to appointments to develop their leadership qualities and to inculcate in them a sense of responsibility. The school administration selected appointments of this session after many deliberations seeing the past achievements and capabilities of cadets. It was a very solemn occasion where cadets vowed to bear true allegiance to the school rules and regulations and discharge the responsibility entrusted upon them by the school administration with grit and sincerity. These appointments were bestowed with their ranks in the special assembly held on 9 th April, 2018 which was graced by Col Rajesh Raghav, Principal Sainik School Chittorgarh. Co-Curricular Activities SPIC MACAY

With the aim to give plethora of prospects to the cadets to interact with the artists and appreciate the rich

ethnicity and heritage of India Spic Macay Programmes were organized under the aegis of “Virasat 2018”

in the Shankar Menon Hall of the school. On 19th April, 2018, renowned Vocalist, Mrs Sudha Raghuraman

a prominent Carnatic singer and recipient of many prestigious awards like Ustad Bismillah Khan Puraskar

by the Central Sangeet Natak Academy etc mesmerized the audience with her melodious voice. She

began her recital with a tribute to Lord Ganesh. This was followed by Raga Tanam Pallavi which she

sung in praise of Lord Shiva and a Bhajan dedicated to Meera Bai. On 25th July, Mr. Kalu Ram Bamaniya

from Devas (MP) mesmerized the audience by singing Kabir Bhajan, Meera Bhajan and Krishan Bhajan.

Since the bhajan were from the syllabus of cadets so it was easy for them to correlate. On 10th

September, 2018, shadow puppetry, an ancient form of storytelling and entertainment was dramatized

depicting scenes from Ramayana. It aided them to understand and comprehend their cultural roots. The

cadets and staff thoroughly enjoyed themselves and felt rejuvenated.

Community Service Club

The students of Sainik School Chittorgarh participated in various activities under the Community Service

Club. This Club is started in Sainik School Chittorgarh in the session 2018-19. Under the guidance of Col

Rajesh Raghav, Principal Sainik School Chittorgarh, Club Incharge, Mr. Babulal Shivran and Assitant

Incharge, Mr. B.B. Vyas, organized visits to various villages at vicinity in the district. The purpose of this

club is to make the people of villages aware and informed about the Indian Army, admission procedure in

Sainik Schools, explain the importance of hygiene and cleanliness of surroundings, functioning of Atal

Seva Kendra, Primary Seva Kendra etc. The cadets interacted with the villagers on currents social evils

of society and explained them how it’s curbing their growth. The cadets also spread the message of ‘Beti

Bachao Beti Padao.’ This year the cadets of Sanga House went to Rolaheda Village on 14th April, Hamir

house cadets and Kumbha house cadets visited Ganeshpura village on 11th August , Badal house

cadets visited Bodhiyana Village on 8th September and cadets of Pratap and Jaimal House went to

Putholi Village on 8th December. The efforts of these cadets were appreciated by the people of these

village and they promised to tread on the path of prosperity shown to them.

House Picnics

House picnics were planned to place at propinquity during the year to give the cadets a break from the

laborious agenda at school. Khushian fraternity on 15th May proceeded for Niliya Mahadev Temple.The

awe of the Niliya Mahadev temple enthralled the cadets with its splendour and they bowed their heads in

respect to Lord Shiva. Jaimalities made a jaunt to Hamirgarh Eco Park on 8th July where they saw the

sunset point, Watch tower, Chamunda Devi temple and Mansa Mahadev Temple. Badalians went on 12th

August to Sawariyaji temple, Hoda Hanumanji temple and trekked towards Gosunda dam. Hamirians

went on 2nd September to Sawariya ji temple and Gosunda dam and the Ashokians went on 29th July to

Gosunda dam and Hoda Hanumanji temple. The rejoicing began the moment the cadets sat in the bus

and moved out of the portals of the school.While some energetic cadets and the house staff trekked on

the nearby hills and enjoyed the scenic view from the pinnacle, the other cadets played a match of

cricket. As the sun set, the cadets of respective houses returned to their abode with fond memories.

House Trekking

Trekking to hills at vicinity was scheduled this year to aid in boosting the determination of cadets to join

the armed forces and also gave them a first hand experience of a soldier’s life. The cadets along with

their house staff were together in this mini expedition. On the morning of 22nd April at 0600 Hr, Sanga

house went on the first trekking expedition of this year. The trek was 10 Km long from Sainik School

Chittorgarh to Rishi Manghri. Cadets of Hamir and Kumbha house went to Ganeshpura village on foot via

Dagla Ka Khera and Dhanet Kala on 11th August. The cadets enjoy the scenic view when they reached

the pinnacle. These treks were memorable for the cadets and house staff.

On 4th May, Mr C L Bhandarkar, I/C Astronomy club along with 30 members of the club visited ISRO

exhibition at Neerja Modi School Chittorgarh. It was organized by Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition,

Space application centre (ISRO), Ahmedabad (Guj).It was an endeavor to make the cadets aware of

Indian space technology, its progress and application in our daily life. This kind of activities certainly

enhances the innovative flair and scientific temperament among the cadets and keeps the cadets abreast

of the new technological developments. Each and every model of launching vehicles, satellites etc. were

nicely arranged and instructor with each model gave them rich information about the PSLV, GSLV and

GSLV MKIII. Cadets were acquainted with INSAT and different satellites sent by India for communication,

weather forecasting, military disaster management purposes and India’s infrastructure for space

development. Scientist also threw light upon tele-medicine and tele-education carried by ISRO through

INSAT and GSAT. Cadets also enjoyed the video of India’s MARS mission. After such an enriching

experience, the cadets look forward to many more .

Vedic Mathematics Workshop

Vedic Mathematics classes were held in S M Auditorium of Sainik School Chittorgarh from 19th- 21st April

and 22nd -24th November, 2018 by Mr. Devesh Kumar. These classes were organized for seniors as well

as the junior section of the school. Vedic math is a tricky math in which the cadets learn tricks or shortcuts

to solve any mathematical equation or problem. The varied topics covered were from place value of

Hindu- Arabic numbers to Pascal’s Triangular, HCF & LCM, Long Multiplication, Binomial Theorem,

finding square root up to 99 etc. This definitely aided in sharpening the minds of cadets and also made

them enthusiastic to learn math. These classes will be beneficial for cadets in all competitive

examinations like NDA etc.

Orientation Classes

Orientation classes for new entrants of 2018-19 were held from 23rd April- 5th May, 2018. They were taken

by Ms Pooja Singh and Mr. Ravi Dev. These classes commenced with the emphasis on the aim of the

school. The cadets were given a tour of the school and were made acquainted with the routine of the

school. Basic communication skills were imparted to them.

Inter-House English Essay Writing Competition

Inter-House English Essay writing Competition was conducted by English Department on 21st April, 2018.

The competition had three categories, Seniors (Class X, XI, XII), Juniors (Class VII, VIII, IX) and Sub-

Juniors (Class VI). The purpose of this competition was to enhance the cadets’ creative writing skills. The

topics were given on the spot. Cadet Manish in senior section, Cadet Anand Meghwal in junior section

and Cadet Sarthak Rai in sub-junior section stood first in their respective categories. Overall, Luv house

stood first in senior section, Hamir house in junior section and Ashok-II in sub-junior section.

Inter-House English Debate Competition

Inter House English Debate Competition for seniors’ was organized on 30th August, 2018 in which cadet

Abhishek Mahala followed by Cadet Alok Anand and Cadet Abhinav secured the first, second and third

positions respectively. Overall Kush house lifted the trophy followed by Badal and Jaimal house. The

topic was ‘Social Media is more powerful than mainstream media since there is no middle man called the

Editor.’

For the Junior and Sub- Junior sections, it was held on 14th August, 2018. The topic was ‘ Is it really worth

to become a cashless economy.’ Cadet Deepak , Cadet Harshit and Cadet Preetish Bishnoi secured the

first, second and third positions respectively in juniors and Overall , Badal House followed by Jaimal

House and Kumbha House secured the first, second and third positions respectively.

In Sub- Juniors section, Cadet Mohd Umar Sherani and Cadet Ayush Aswal secured the first and second

position. Overall, Ashok II stood first. The topic was ‘What is more important for students practical or

theory.’

Inter-House Hindi Debate Competition

The Inter- House Hindi Debate Competition was organized on 7th April for Junior and Sub-Junior

Categories and on 11th April for senior category. Cadet Abhishek in senior category, Cadet Anand

Meghwal in junior category and Cadet Devesh Kumar in sub-junior category bagged the first position.

Overall, Kumbha stood first in both senior and junior category and Ashok-I in sub-junior category.

Hindi Pakhwada

Hindi Pakhwada was celebrated from 10th -14th September, 2018. It is observed each year to celebrate

the glorious day when Hindi in Devnagri script was adopted as the official language of the Indian

republic. The varied activities were conducted under the aegis of the same. The ‘Thought of the day’ in

morning assembly was delivered in Hindi .Inter House Hindi Declamation was conducted for juniors and

sub juniors on 25th August. Cadet Sumit Kumar of Luv house in junior category and Cadet Tushar Jangu

of Sub-Junior category won appreciation for their oratory skills and they also secured the first position

respectively. Overall, Badal House in junior category and Ashok- I in sub- junior category stood first. On

10th September Hindi Declamation for senior category was conducted. Cadet Ruchin stood first and

Cadet Prateek Pandey and Cadet Sameer Choudhary stood second.

Inter House Hindi Recitation Competition was organized on 14th September. Cadet Himanshu Kumar in

senior category, Cadet Manmohan Yadav in junior category and Cadet Rishabh in sub- junior category

stood first . Overall, Badal House stood first in senior and junior category and Ashok- II stood first in

sub-junior category.

In Inter House Hindi Essay Writing Competition, Cadet Nilesh Raj in senior category, Cadet Axit in junior

category and Cadet Jatin and Cadet Abhishek in sub-junior category inscribed to secure the first positions

in their respective categories. Hamir house stood first in senior and junior category and in sub-junior

category, Ashok- II was placed first.

Inter House Quiz Competition

Inter House Quiz Competition was held on 29th November, 2018. Three cadets participated from each

house. They were questioned on diverse genres like language, sports, music, etc. Pratap House cadets

lifted the coveted trophy while Jaimal House & Hamir House stood second & third respectively.

Inter-House Cultural Competition

It was organized from 4th- 5th August 2018. Lt Col Sanjay Kumar was the chief guest. It constituted of

English drama, Hindi drama and group dance. Each house within the span of 30 minutes put up a

mesmerizing performance. Kumbha house secured the first position in the Senior category followed by

Pratap and Badal House. In the Junior category, Ashok-II was placed first.

Inter-House Painting Competition

Inter- House Painting competition for juniors and sub-juniors was held on 16th September with the theme

‘Digital India’ and ‘Conservation of Heritage’ respectively. Cadet Karan of Ashok- I and Cadet Aman

Singh & Cadet Tanuj Basiwal of Pratap House secured the first position and overall Pratap House lifted

the trophy.

Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat

Under the aegis of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’, a ‘Painting Exhibition’ was organized in the Art room of

Sainik School Chittorgarh on 23rd March, 2018 on the State (Rajasthan) and partner state (Assam) icons.

The Painting Exhibition not only gave the cadets an opportunity to showcase their veiled artistic skills but

also made them aware of the partner state, Assam’s rich heritage and famous personalities. The cadets

have been able to enhance their knowledge, appreciate the culture, heritage and personalities of the state

and partner state. This exhibition proved to be a step towards strengthening the fabric of traditionally

existing emotional bonds between the cadets of the both schools.

Under the same a seminar was organized on 24th March, 2018 in Sainik School Chittorgarh on the

chosen state and partner state icons which included historical personalities like Gopinath Bordoloi,

contemporary personalities like Bhupen Hazarika ,warriors like Maharana Pratap, prominent places like

Rang Ghar, famous festivals like Pushkar fair and Gangaur etc. The cadets were told about the various

state and partner state icons by our faculty members via power point presentations. This seminar aided in

disseminating information to cadets about the rich heritage and eminent personalities of the states.

A delegation of forty cadets and three faculty members of Sainik School Goalpara, Assam visited Sainik

School Chittorgarh from 9th-11th April, 2018 to establish an educational and cultural exchange and foster

the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat.’ They spent quality time on the campus observing myriad

activities of the school, interacting with cadets and faculty members. They also visited prominent places

of Chittorgarh and Udaipur like Chittorgarh Fort, Haldighati, City Palace, Sawaliyaji Temple, Lok Kala

Kendra etc where they observed and appreciated the colourful culture and heritage of Rajasthan. They

even gave a presentation on their chosen state icons and put up a cultural extravaganza highlighting the

diverse and rich heritage of Assam. A friendly football match was also organised between the cadets of

Sainik School Goalpara and Sainik School Chittorgarh. Before leaving they were completely drenched in

the colours of Rajasthan and extended an invitation to the cadets and staff of Sainik School Chittorgarh to

Sainik School Goalpara to strengthen the ties between the two schools and to establish an eternal bond.

On 11th July, 2018, a pledge taking ceremony was organized in the morning assembly. The cadets of

Sainik School Chittorgarh took an oath of allegiance to their nation in the local language of Rajasthan i.e.

Marwari and in Hindi, the National language of India under the aegis of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat.’ They

pledged to depict brotherhood, loyalty and earnestness towards their nation. They even vowed to shield

and maintain India’s dignity, exhibit profound devotion towards their nation and live in unity.

Under the EBSB programme initiated by Honourble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our school has been

paired up with Sainik School Goalpara. Our Sainik School Goalpara contingent comprising of 40 Cadets

along with Mr. Gyaneshwar Singh and Mr Manoj Kumar were hosted by from 14th -26th November 2018.

Their stay during this visit was comforted with the hospitality of DG Assam Rifles- Lt Gen Sukhdeep

Sangwan, SM**, who felicitated them to explore delights of North east Cherrapunji, Shillong, Kaziranga

and Guwahati. The Cadets thoroughly enjoyed the scenic beauty of these enthralling tourist spots. The

DG Assam Rifles also presented the School & Cadets a token of resemblance.

Games and Sports

Inter-House Boxing Championship

Glories of all eight houses were high on stakes from 2nd- 4th May, 2018 since Inter-House Boxing

Championship was back to the rings again. The competition had various categories under its belt which

were categorized on the basis of their different weight groups. Col Sudhanshu Arya , Inspecting Officer,

Sainik School Society was the Chief guest of the event. Pratap House won the trophy for the year 2018-

19. Cadet Aniket of Luv house was adjudged as the ‘Best Boxer’ of the tournament.

Inter-House Volleyball Championship

Inter-House Volleyball Championship was held from 24th -27th July, 2018. This year the cadets played

exceptionally well and won appreciation from all spectators. Kush House stood first followed by Kumbha

House and Luv House. Cadet Abhishek Lamba of Kush House was adjudged as the ‘Best Player’ of the

Championship.

Inter-House Football Championship

Inter- House Football for juniors and seniors was conducted on 15th -19th August, 2018. The cadets put up

a spectacular performance and each match kept the spectactors captivated. Jaimal House stood first

followed by Kush House and Pratap house. The ‘Best Player’ of the championship was Cadet Yatendra

Dangi of Jaimal House.

Inter-House Basketball Championship

Inter-House Basketball was conducted on 4th-8th September. The tournament was organized on league

cum knockout basis. The cadets displayed their honed dribble, lay-ups, varied shots and gained

appreciation from all spectators. Luv House emerged triumphant and Cadet Ajay Choudhary was

adjudged as the ‘Best Player’ of the tournament.

Inter-House Annual Athletic Meet

58th Annual Athletic Meet was conducted from 24th -26th October, 2018. Overall trophy was acquired by

Jaimal House in senior and junior category and Ashok-I in sub-junior category. ‘Best Athletes’ of Group A,

B and C were Cadet Deepak Meena, Cadet Amrit and Cadet Krishna respectively. All cadets exhibited

true sportsman spirit during the meet.

Inter-House Hockey Championship

It was conducted from 3rd-6th December on knockout basis. All eight senior houses participated. Cadet

Ruchin and Cadet Amit played exceptionally well. Overall, Badal house lifted this coveted trophy for yet

another time. Kush House and Sanga House secured the second and third positions respectively.

Celebrations

Founder’s Day Celebration

On 7th August , 1961, a dream was visualized and the legacy continues to thrives as Sainik School

Chittorgarh celebrated its 58th Founders Day this year. The occasion was celebrated with great fervour in

the Shankar Menon Auditorium of the school. The Chief guest of the event was Lt Gen. Mandhata Singh

(Retd) PVSM, VSM, YSM. He and the other digniatries were welcomed by Col Rajesh Raghav, Principal,

Sainik School Chittorgarh. Cadet Ayush Aswal of class VI and Cadet Alok Anand of class XII shared their

experiences in this school. Mr H.S. Rathi . PGT Chemistry ( Retd) motivated the cadets to work diligently

to soar the school flag high in all arenas. The chief guest felicitated the cadets who brought laurels to the

school in IPSC Boxing and represented the school in All India Sainik School Mountaineering Expedition.

He inspired the cadets by giving them a maxim, ‘I CAN’ and advised them to start each day of their life in

the same spirit. The Chief guest and other dignitaries also planted trees on this pious occasion. A cultural

programme was organized where the cadets sang songs, showcased their acting skills and danced to

celebrate this occasion.

Independence Day

The 72nd Independence day was celebrated with traditional gaiety and fervour by the whole Chittorian

family. Adm Officer Lt Col Sanjay Kumar hoisted the tricolor flag and was given salute by the marching

troops. School Captain Jiyalal Prasad led the ceremonial parade on the occasion comprising of 550

cadets. The Chief Guest in his speech reiterated about the supreme sacrifices made by our forefathers in

order to attain Independence He also exhorted the Cadets to remain focused and achieve their aim of

joining the National Defence Academy. The Cadets of the school participated and put up a laudable

performance in Horse show, mass PT, Gymnastic and march past at Indira Gandhi stadium and drew

thunderous applause. Mr Rakesh Rampuria, PGT Mathematics for his dedication to his profession and

Cadet Bhuvneshwar Chechi and Cadet Gaurav for scaling the friendship peak were felicitated by Mr

Shrichand Kriplani , Urban Development and Housing Minister of Rajasthan and by Mr Inderjeet Singh,

Collector of Chittorgarh on the this glorious day.

Shri Krishna Janamashtami

Shri Krishna Janmasthami was celebrated with full devotion and ardour by the cadets on 3rd September.

Bhajans were sung for three hours which created a religious aura with lord Krishana being symbolically

born at midnight. Lt. Cdr Manish Chowdhary, Vice principal and his family performed the pooja. Floral

offerings were made by all staff and cadets. As the clock struck 12, the congregation rejoiced the birth of

lord Krishna and the whole ambience was filled with the praise of the lord and ‘Aarti’ was chanted. In the

end the prasad was distributed.

Teacher’s Day

Teacher’s day was celebrated on 5th September, 2018 with immense affection and fervour. The cadets

expressed their gratitude to their torch bearers and thanked each of them for steering their life on the path

of success. All teachers were felicitated by class 12 cadets. A friendly Volleyball match was conducted

between the class XII Cadets and teachers in which the teachers won.

Annual Day Celebration

58th Annual Day of the school was celebrated on 26th October, 2018. All cadets and staff prepared for it

with vigour and gusto. The chief guest on the occasion was Mr and Mrs Vinod Kumar Singh Raghav and

they were welcomed by Mr. and Mrs. Lt Cdr Manish Chawdhary, Vice Principal. ‘ Shahadat Ko Salaam’

play was staged which was a glimpse of the surgical strike carried out by the Indian Army. The cadets

also sang songs in glory of the school and forced the audience to tap their feet and join their hands and

rejoice on the beats of the Rajasthani dances. The cadets who scored the highest percentage in their

respective classes and fluttered the school flag in different arenas in Inter-Mural competitions were

felicitated by the chief-guest. The Cock House for the bygone year was lifted by Jaimal House.

Rastriya Ekta Divas

A ‘Run for Unity’ was conducted on 31st October, 2018 to celebrate ‘ Rastriya Ekta Divas’ ceremony. The

flag was waived off by Lt Cdr Manish Chowdhary, Vice Principal, Sainik School Chittorgarh. The

academic and administrative staff ran and pledged to remain united under all circumstances. The entire

fraternity bowed their head in remembrance of Sardar Vallbah Bhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.

Visits of Dignitaries

Col Sudhanshu Arya visited Sainik School Chittorgarh for inspection from 2nd- 5th May, 2018. He

interacted with staff and enquired if they faced any problems and ensured their fulfilment. He also

encouraged the staff to work diligently to raise the standards of school in all arenas. He even interacted

with cadets while gracing finals of Inter- House Boxing Championship and motivated them to work

sincerely for their better tomorrow and to make their alma mater proud. He fleeted through all academic

and administrative work. He discussed with Col Rajesh Raghav, Principal , Sainik School Chittorgarh on

various methods to raise the standards of institution. Before his departure, he extolled the faculty for their

commitment and care.

Lt Col Pratham Pulkit Tripathy , trained psychologist of DIPR visited school on 5th April, 2018. He

interacted with cadets of class XI and XII and explained in detail the course of action of SSB.

Col Sudhakar Arya , Commanding Officer , 10 Raj Bn NCC Udaipur visited on 23rd July to inspect NCC

activities of school.

A talk on dental and oral hygiene was conducted by Dr Dheeraj Nigam on 21st August wherein he

stressed on the importance of oral Hygiene.

Motivational lecture by Maj DP Singh (Retd) , also known as India’s first blade runner was conducted on

5th October, 2018. He gave cadets and staff the maxim, ‘Give Up, Giving Up’ and inspired cadets to work

diligently to achieve their aim.

Staff Beats

Lt Cdr Manish Chowdhary took over as Vice- Principal on 27th May 2018. We hope that under his

guidance the school will attain new heights of success.

Lt Col Abhishek Jha relinquished from service as Vice Principal on 27th May and proceeded on

permanent transfer to 57 Mtn Div.

Lt Col Sanjay Kumar relinquished from his service as Administrative officer on 8th October, 2018 and he

proceeded on permanent posting to 2-Mtn DOU, Dinjan, Assam.

Lt Col MH Nashit (Armed Corps), reported to the school on permanent posting from 54 Infantry Division

Provost Unit on 27 Nov 2018 and assumed the appointment of Administrative Officer.

All India Sainik Schools Teachers’ Workshop: Under the aegis of Sainik school society, a five day ‘All

India Sainik Schools Teachers Workshop’ was organized at Sainik School Kodagu from 28th May-2nd

June, 2018. Three teachers, Mr. Rakesh Rampuria (PGT Math), Mrs Pushpa Faujdar (PGT English) and

Mr. Babulal Shivran( Librarian) actively participated from our school. They did enrich and equip

themselves with the latest methodologies of teaching – learning process.

National Summit on “Childhood Depression – Identification, Prevention and Intervention”: Mrs Pushpa

Faujdar (PGT English) attended a National Summit of School Principals on “Childhood Depression-

Identification, Prevention and Intervention” organized by “Institute of Counselor Training Research and

Consultancy” on 20 Dec 2018 at New Delhi.

Yoga Course at AIPT Pune : Hav Vijith D, APTC Staff attended a Yoga Course at AIPT Pune from 30th

June – 31 Aug 18.

ANO Refresher Course : Mr Dhiraj Sharma, ANO, NCC Army (SD) Wing attended the refresher P-1 held

at Kamptee (Nagpur) from 05th Oct – 03rd Nov 18. He successfully completed the course and has been

promoted as 2nd Officer in JD NCC Army Troop.

Educational Exursions

Educational Excursion to Udaipur, Mt. Abu and Haldighati

Class VI cadets along with Mrs Pushpa Faujdar and Mr Vikas Choubey went to Udapiur , Mt Abu and

Haldigahti from 14th -16th July, 2018. They were hosted by the students of Maharana Mewar School and

were shown City Palace- an epitome of wonderful blend of Medieval, European and Chinese architecture.

In Mt Abu , they scaled Guru Shikhar, the highest peak of Rajasthan , the Dilwara temple devoted to Jain

saints , the Nakki lake, an artificial lake and lastly the Brahma Kumari, a spiritual establishment of

attaining enlightenment. In Haldighati, they saw the museum which speaks volumes about the

intrepidness of Maharana Pratap. It was indeed an enriching and pleasurable jaunt for the aspiring

officers.

Educational Excursion to Ahmedabad and the City of Lakes

A delegation of 65 cadets of Class VII went on an educational tour to Udaipur , Haldighati and

Ahmedabad from 18th -20th August. They fanned across the beauty of Udaipur and saw Lok kala

Mandal, Maharana Pratap Smarak , Sahelyoon ki Bardi and Fateh Sagar. In Ahmadabad, they saw the

pious Sabarmati ashram. by its side the River front park and the Akshardham Temple situated at

Gandhinagar which is divine abode of God as it name implies. They stayed at the Signal Unit of

Ahmedabad Cantonment. They intereacted with CO of the Unit and also saw the displayed Army

equipments. They also visited the ‘Science City.’

Educational Excursion to Dehradun

Ninety-seven cadets along with 4 teachers proceeded on 21st September for an educational tour to Dehradun, the land of mesmerizing splendour. The journey to Dehradun was equally enriching as they witnessed enraptured views from the train which made them feel at proximity to nature. On 22nd evening, they reached the Dehradun Junction and boarded the buses, which took them to ‘Clement Town’ where their stay was organized in four different units. The next day was the most enthralling day of the trip as they were fortunate to visit the shrine of Army Officers, the Indian Military Academy. They visited the Khetrapal Auditorium, the Vikram Batra Mess that speaks volumes about the varied commandants and the brave sons of India, the Shooting range and the the Chetwode Building.Due to downpour, their trip to Mussoorie was called off but when they got some respite from the rains, they were fortunate enough to visit the Forest Research Institute at Dehradun established to organize and lead forest research in the nation. The sprawling campus of the institute mesmerized all cadets by its beauty. The cadets saw different museums like Timber museum, Entomology museum, Pathology museum etc.The next day, this delegation left for their abode and reached school on 26th afternoon.

Educational Excursion to Chandigarh and Shimla

On the dawn of 23rd November, forty eight cadets of Class X along with Mr. Onkar Singh and Mr. Brijendra Singh left their abode to proceed on an educational tour to Chandigarh. They were warmly welcomed and hosted by Dogra Regiment of Army. In the bus they witnessed the scenic beauty of Sukhna Lake where they enjoyed boating. From there they departed for Rock Garden famous for its fine architectural work and then they explored the Rose Garden. On the same day, the cadets interacted with Major Gen Narpat Singh Rajpurohit (Ex-Hamirian). The very next morning, they visited Sheesh Mahal. Their next halt was at Jutogh Cantt from where they travelled in army truck to 22 Rajput Regiment. There they visted the Mall Road and Jakhoo Temple. At Jakhoo Temple there was a huge statue of Lord Hanuman of height 128 ft. The cadets returned to their abode with treasured reminiscence.

Educational Excursion to National Defence Academy and Naval Dockyard

Matching steps to hands of an hour, 36 cadets of Class XI along with Mr Rakesh Rampuriya and Mr

Tony Abraham left for their dreamland when fog freed the sight on 26th November. They visited INS

Shivaji and saw its museum and machinery. In Pune , they were hosted by Signal Regiment, Pune

whose GOC Maj Gen Ajay Pal is an ex- Chittorian and the next day, they witnessed the grandeur of

National Defence Academy. Meticulous turnout, synchronized digging heels dug their heart. The next

day, they proceeded to Mumbai by train and visited the Naval Dockyard Mumbai, the ship INS MYSORE

and Submarine Sindhuratana. This jaunt certainly gave the cadets stimulation to work more industriously

and realize the aim of their life.

Beyond the portals- Achievements

“India School Survey” Rankings 2017-18 survey was conducted by Education Today. As per the

survey report by Education Today our school Ranked 7 in India, No. 1 in Rajasthan and No. 1 in

Chittorgarh in the category of Boarding & Day-Cum Boarding School.

Academic

Result of NDA-2018 Evaluation of labour put in seven years of stay at school showered delight and disappointment in the heart of school this year. This year 25 cadets of class XII appeared for the NDA written test on 9th September, 2018. 08 cadets cracked the written exam and fluttered the school flag aloft. SSB preparation has braced up and boys seem dedicated and devoted to their training. SSB orientation for class XII was conducted from 17th -21st Sept and 25th -28th Sept. through which the

cadets benefitted immensely and got an insight on how to attend and prepare for Service Selection

Board. To further prepare class XII cadets for stage-1 of SSB, 07 days of Mental Ability course was

conducted from 10th -20th October, 2018.

Olympiads

33 Cadets participated in International General Knowledge Olympiad held on 25th September.

First level of International Mathematics Olympiad 2018 was held at Sainik School Chittorgarh on 18th December, 2018, in the same, 98 cadets participated.

India’s Best Student Contest 2018

The First stage of India’s Best Student Contest 2018 was organized by RAO IIT Academy, Kota on 30th September. Total 54 cadets participated in this competition.

Literary Competitions

Military History Seminar

Eight cadets of our school participated in 2nd edition of “Military History Seminar” at Welham Boys’ School Dehradun. The programme is an initiative taken up by Welham Boys’ since 2017 to glorify the bravery of Indian military personnel and make young children aware and able to appreciate the service they render to nation. The seminar was attended by students from 38 schools across the country. Several ex-military personnel presented their views and experiences to the youthful audience. Six Cadets participated in the seminar in different syndicate and deliberated on varied topics. Cadet Ravinder and Cadet Bijendra participated in the art syndicates and canvassed an inverted gun with cap under the lines of surgical strike. It was so fine that it made into first four.

‘Shahadat Ko Salam’ Programme

School Cadets participated in “ Shahadat Ko Salam’ programme organised by District administration ,

Chittorgarh to remember the supreme sacrifice of soldiers on the occasion of Shaurya Divas. Cadets

presented a English drama named ‘Surgical Strike’ during cultural programme. The cadets were

successful in earning admiration from all audience for their splendid performance.

Essay Writing Competitions

Essay Writing Competition was conducted on 7th September 2018 in collaboration with Petroleum

Conservation Research Association (PCRA) . 119 cadets participated in the same.

Oliphant Memorial English Debate Competition

Oliphant Memorial English Debate competition Four cadets of our school participated in Oliphant

Memorial English Debate competition held at Welham Boys’ School Dehradun on 7th -8th Sept, 2018.

‘Dhai Akshar ‘Letter Writing Competition

56 cadets participated in national Level ‘Dhai Akshar ‘Letter writing competition conducted by Indian Post

office on 20th September, 2018.

‘Wildlife week Programme’

Painting and essay writing competition was held on 3rd October, 2018 under ‘Wildlife week Programme.’

30 Cadets participated in the competition. 18 cadets also visited Bassi Wildlife century on 5th October,

2018.

English Vocabulary Contest

6th All India The Mann School Silver Jubilee Master, an inter school English vocabulary contest was held

on 31st October, 2018. Two cadets participated in the same.

64th Wildlife Environment Conscious Week

64th Wildlife Environment Conscious Week brought varied colours to this abode preparing officers of tomorrow. In the same, the cadets made giant strides by volunteering in large numbers, pouring their soul on to the paper in Essay Writing Competition held on 3rd October in our school. The winners were awarded with a planned Sitamata Wild-Life Sanctuary visit on 5th October, 2018 which gave a direction to their imagination.

Inter-School Competition

Cadet Ayush Singh of class VIII secured the first position in Inter-School Speech Competition held at Hind Zinc School on 20th August, 2018. The topic was ,’ No Progress without struggle.’ In the Inter –school Solo Competiton held on 24th August, 2018, Cadet Yatharth of class VIII won a consolation prize. The cadets of our school also participated in group song.

Sports Competitions

West Zone Championship-2018

On 21st April 2018, five teams of Jr Football, Sr. Football, Volleyball, Basketball and Hockey constituting

73 cadets including participants of Debate & Quiz Competition, along with team manager Mr C L

Bhandarkar, PTI M Waiza, Mr. Aakashdeep and two coaches participated in the West Zone

Championship 2018 held at Sainik School Satara. Each day they had to play four or five matches in the

morning and evening. This mega event came to end on 26th April 2018. Overall they stood at the IV

position among the five Sainik schools. Position of teams in varied sports was as follows:-

In English and Hindi debate they stood III and in quiz competition, they stood V. The difference of win and war taught each of them a lesson and the cadets have realized their mistakes and assure that they will repair their faults to bring glory back to the school gallery.

Friendship Peak Expedition

Two cadets of our school, Cadet Bhuvneshwar Chechi and Cadet Guarav set off for friendship peak on

30th May, 2018 to conquer its summit and satisfy their profound desire. The expedition was flagged off on

2nd June wherein two Cadets from Sainik Schools across India joined .Before they roped up for the crown

of mountain, they had as many as three halts for acclimatizing, learning details of climbing and preparing,

.traversing undulating terrain, walking on snow, sliding on ice, cavorting and rappelling was adrenaline

pumping. Each Morning and each evening, they had an unexplored destination to trek. Over awing

splendour of the peak promised to be lifetime reminiscence.

State Boxing Championship

To honour the sweltering heat showcased in rings and swellings endured, the school sent twelve cadets

to represent its prestige to Boxing District Meet held at Indira Gandhi Stadium on 5th May, 2018. They all

competed in different weight categories and eight out of them got selected for 34th State Boxing

Championship held at Kota from 13-16th May, 2018. The cadets won a haul of medals with two gold

medals, 2 silver medals and three bronze medals.

IPSC Boxing

In IPSC Boxing Championship held at Rashtriya Military School, Dholpur, our cadets participated in

under-14 and under-17 categories and bagged 03x gold, 03x silver and 08x bronze medals. Our school

contingent stood third. Overall, the cadets bagged 14 x medals.

Inter- Zonal Hockey Championship

Inter- Zonal Hockey Championship for this year was organized in our school from 17th -20th September,

2018. Five Sainik Schools namely Sainik School Kapurthala, Sainik School Bijapur, Sainik School

Goalpara, Sainik School Satara and Sainik School Nalanda who had earned the title of ‘ Champions’ of

their respective zones participated in this event to showcase their mettle. The matches were played on

league basis. Sainik School Kapurthala players proving their hockey flair won this esteemed

championship. This championship was successful in keeping the spectators enraptured throughout the

event.

National Boxing Championship

SGFI National Boxing Competition was conducted in Guwahati from 25th -30th Nov. Two Cadets of our School participated in same namely Cadet 5260-Abhishek Saini (X Class) & Cadet 5351- Shivam (X Class). Cadet Abhishek Saini has also been selected for “Khelo India” meet in boxing which is scheduled in the month of Feb/March 2019.

In Under 14 category, Cadet Ankit represented at the National and reached the Quarter-final in his

maiden attempt.

IPSC Athletic Meet 2018

55th IPSC Athletic Meet 2018 was conducted at Punjab Public School, Nabha from 12th-14th Nov 2018. Twenty Four (24) cadets participated in it out of which 05 Cadets ( Cadet Deepak Meena, Cadet Abhishek Saini, Cadet Mohit Yadav, Cadet Paras and Cadet Manish) were selected for SGFI National Athletics scheduled from 14th -19th Dec 2018 at New Delhi.

Hockey State Championship

Cadet Amit and Cadet Ravindra represented Chittorgarh district in Hockey State Championship held at Kota. Cadet Ravindra enthralled the spectators and has been selected to represent Rajasthan at the national level.

Inter School Athletic Competition

In Inter School Athletic competition held at Birla Shiksha Kendra, Chittorgarh on 01st Dec 18 our school cadets were successful in lifting the trophy. The cadets bagged 3 Gold medals in various events.
