The only place in the world the Saguaro exists is the Sonoran Desert and are only found in a few sections of Arizona and Northern Mexi-co. A visit to Tucson Arizona will bring them up close and personal. And if they could speak, they would surely be able to give you a history lesson. The Tucson Mountain District and the Rincon Moun-tain District. If you plan on visiting both Parks in the same day, plan on driving through the city to get to the other side. Both districts serve to enhance and protect these magnificent cacti while providing access to miles of hiking and bicycling trails as well as conducting interpretative nature programs highlighting some of the most diverse
plant life in the American desert. Visitors will notice that the 7-day private vehicle entrance fee at Saguaro National Park will go up from $15 to $20, 7-day motorcycle entrance fee will rise from $10 to $15, individual entrance passes for pedestrians and bicyclists will increase from $5 to $10, and the Saguaro Annual Pass will increase from $35 to $40.

Bonnie Geradine Ratliff Fraker, 93, passed away peacefully at home, April 12, 2019. She was born December 24, 1925 in Solo-monville.
At the age of 15 she married Richard Burnett Fraker, when they eloped to Lordsberg, New Mexico on October 26, 1941. He was 19 and to hear them tell it, they had enough money for two hot dogs after the ceremony to eat on the drive back to Willcox, where they both resided. Shortly thereafter, Richard joined the Army Air Corp as World War II was being waged in Europe and Russia. Bonnie followed him to Boston and Georgia where he was training to be a fighter pilot. At 15 she was riding the train across country to be with him and finding rooms in boarding houses and working as a waitress. When the war ended Bonnie and Richard moved back to Willcox where they operated a dairy farm on 160 acres about five miles out of town and raised registered quarter horses. In their spare time, Bonnie and Richard loved to go camping, fishing and hunting. They delivered milk to grocery stores and restaurants in Willcox, Bowie and San Simon.
In 1981 Bonnie and Richard moved to Eagar. Bonnie was employed at the US Forest Service in Springerville until her retire-ment in October 1988. Richard preceded Bonnie in death in 1983 and she never re-married, as he was her one true love.
For the past 4 years, Bonnie lived with her daughter, Carolyn Sue in Glendale.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Sharon (Henry) Diaz, Carolyn Wild, Rusty Fraker (Cheri Lewis), Shaddo (Andi) Fraker, sister, Bobbi Wycoff, Tampa, Florida; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers, Ira Ratliff and Lee Roy Ratliff. She was a woman of determination and strength of character and will be dearly missed. Graveside services were held Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Eagar Cemetery.

Joyce Wiltbank Howells, was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, April 22, 1938, the fifth child of William Ellis Wiltbank, Jr. and Mary Alta Wiltbank. As a child, Joyce loved to roller skate, jump rope and play jacks. As she grew she became a favorite aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was briefly married to Dave Davis, but the marriage ended before the birth of her daughter, Yvette Marie on May 15, 1963 in Palo Alto, California. Yvette had juvenile diabetes and died as a young woman from complications it caused.
Joyce met Samuel Howells at an LDS singles dance in Provo, Utah. They married in the Manti Temple and their daughter Amyjo was born June 5, 1968 in Salt Lake City. Sam adopted Yvette and they were sealed as a family for time and all eternity. Joyce and Sam lived in Utah before moving to Missouri where they lived until coming to Round Valley in August 2016.
Joyce worked at various jobs through the years, including a University Librarian for 22 years after she earned a Master’s Degree in Library Science. Joyce also had many church callings. She served as a Primary teacher, Sunday School teacher, Counselor in Primary, Home Study Seminary Teacher for almost 4 years (her daughter Amy was her student for 3 of those years), Relief Society Pianist, Meeting House Librarian, Choir Pianist, Sacrament Meeting Pianist, and a temple worker in the Dallas Temple and the St. Louis Temple. She loved all of her callings because she loved being of service.
Joyce was immensely proud of her pioneer heritage. She had ten ancestors that lived in Nauvoo, Illinois and then crossed the Plains to Salt Lake City, Utah. Three sets of great grandparents on her father’s side were then called to settle in St. George, Utah and helped build the St. George Temple. They all eventually moved on the northeastern Arizona and helped to settle that area along with her mother’s parents, Joseph and Emma Udall. Her mother’s maternal grandmother, Ellen Jackson Goldsbrough, joined the church in England at age 17 and came by herself to the United States and helped pull a handcart across the Plains. She was a plural wife of Henry Goldsbrough who owned the hotel in Nephi, Utah and who paid for the rest of her family to im-migrate to Utah.
A few of Joyce’s favorite things included Mexican food (the hotter, the better!), reading, playing the piano, decorating her home, collecting recipes, organizing things and BYU sports.
Joyce had a challenging life, but she was always grateful for her blessings, especially her husband, daughters and her siblings and their families.
She passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019. She is survived by her daughter, Amyjo, 3 sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed.
A funeral service was held Friday, April 19, 2019 at Burnham Mortuary. Interment followed at the Eagar Cemetery.
LaMell “Nick” Nikolaus, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2019. “Nick” was born to Clara McNeil and Henry Israel Nikolaus July 4, 1943 in Snowflake.
One of nine siblings, he is survived by twin brother, LaVar (Myrna), sisters, Colleen (Lynn) McMullin, Bonita (Larry) Philibert, his wife of over 49 years, Janet (Greenwood), son, Darin (Laurel), daugh-ters, Kristina Fulcher, Monique (David) Morrison, and son Marc. Grandchildren include: Preston, Brandon, Andrew and Patrick Ni-kolaus; Kemry (Ben) Farthing, Karissa, Kennadi, Kamden, Korben, Keagen Fulcher; Nikolas, Megan, Ellie, Cate, Adam, Anna Morrison; and great grandson, Donovan Farthing.
Nick was employed as a paper maker for over 45 years, working for Southwest Forest Industries in Arizona and retiring from Bear Island Paper Co. Doswell, Virginia in 2009. In his younger years he excelled in many sports and enjoyed participating in rodeos and water skiing. In later years he was known for his extra-large vegetable garden. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
A viewing was held Saturday, April 20, 2019 with graveside services following at 10:00 a.m. at the Eagar Cemetery.

THE BEST OF SEVEN
Some final thoughtsDuring the final inningAbout what’s importantAnd what is winning
It’s all about the momentsAnd not about the gameThe memories that we makeWhere we never are the same
It’s easy to see sorrowBut harder to see graceDuring our time on this planetAs it’s hurdling through space
But then the game is overFull of excitement, joy and tearsAnd you have a precious memoryThat will last you all your years.
