MAJOR DEPARTMENTAL PROJECTS

• Development of White Space Radio based Communication System (ECE Department)(Guide: Prof. S. Hiremath , June’16 - Ongoing)

◦ Goal is to design a system based of software defined radio which uses white space frequency spectrumfor communication.

◦ The system will use cognitive radio techniques for efficient spectrum usage.◦ All design are being done in GNU Radio which is open source and will support many commercially

available hardware.

• Student Balloon Satellite. (ECE Department)(Guide: Prof. Samit Ari,Prof. Ajit Kumar Sahoo , June’15 - Aug’16)

◦ In charge of RF communications subsystem of BalloonSAT.◦ Learnt about various wireless communication protocols using Xtend Module, developed by DigiKey.◦ Developed the communication protocols between sensors [Serial Camera Interface,IMU,GSM packets

etc] and UDOO-Quad Development Board.

• Development of Path Planning Algorithm of a AUV using sensors and on-board camera (ME Depart-ment)(Guide: Prof. H.P. Roy , June’15 -Ongoing)

◦ Used an underwater image correction algorithm to effectively find the path ta be taken by the AUV.◦ Wrote the control algorithm for thrusters and other sensors used in the vehicle.◦ All work were done in Ubuntu using ROS(Robot Operating System).

• Implementation of an Embedded System for Real Time Monitoring of Vehicular Movement in MiningSites (ECE Department)(Guide: Prof. D.P. Acharya , June’15 -April’16)

◦ In charge of Power Management for the tracking module.◦ Worked with SMPS modules like LM2596 buck converter.◦ Studied and implemented the XBEE-Pro zigbee module in Mesh Networking mode.

CLUB PROJECTS

• Signal Processing using Software Defined Radio◦ Used various commercial SDR’s like DVB-T Dongle,HackRF,BladeRF.◦ All simulations were done using GNU Radio in Ubuntu OS.

• Design and Implement a Self-Balancing Bot (Summer Hobby Project)(June 2015)

◦ Objective :To make a two wheel Self Balancing Bot as a summer hobby project. The project was done inArduino platform

◦ Interfaced a MPU 9150 Inertial Measurement Unit for real time measurement of orientation of bot.◦ Used Kalman Filter to obtain stable gyro readings. .

• Semi-Autonomous Metal Detection Bot (IIT Kharagpur Tech-fest-2015)◦ Objective was to built a gesture controlled bot capable of detecting concealed metal surfaces.◦ Used MPU 6050 IMU for gesture control.◦ Wireless communications was done using zigbee module(XBEE).◦ Entire bot was based on Arduino environment.

• Autonomous IR Information Retrieval Robot (IIT Kharagpur Tech-fest-2016)◦ Objective was to built a robot capable of decoding IR data sent through NEC protocol.◦ Used HMC5883l magnetometer for getting the heading. .

• Automatic music classification API (Summer Hobby Project)(June 2015)

◦ Objective :To make an Android App capable of classifying music according to its genre.◦ Used python programming language (scikit-learn)◦ Learnt basic android app building using MIT AppInventor◦ Will shift to android studio as soon as possible to make the final app. .
