DESCRIPTION
Sustainable Campus Design treating 100% storm water using native vegetation and reducing infrastructure and utilities cost. Recycled water is used for irrigation and flushing. Native vegetation and permeable natural surfaces retain moisture. Shaded walks and nodes harmonizes pedestrian experiences.TRANSCRIPT

Design Brief
1. Central theme the site is a dry and arid region of pune which sees very dry winds during winter and
summers. Humidity is less than 25% in summers. So the evapotransipration rates are quite high: We will create a landscape which is cool (green) and offers shade. Also helps with the compliance that requires 3000 trees to be planted.
a. We would have to design wind breaks on the south and west areas of the entire plot and possibly for
each area within the plot. Tree spacing can be condensed to allow canopy to merge at an early stage.
b. All pedestrian areas, drive ways, add to the heat island effect. We can plan trees in a way to offer a canopy closure of trees over roads, pathways, and parking lots. The tree varieties selected will be planned in a way so they don’t conflict with the maximum height required for vehicles to pass. c. Also around structures. Tree canopy planting will buffer sunlight radiation reducing temperatures inside the structures and reducing cooling costs if any. Facilitating better work environment on the shop floor.
d. Tree planting will be intersperses with palms to allow adequate sunlight for plants under the canopy.
e. Evergreen trees vs. seasonal flowering trees would be used.

Design Brief
2. Earthwork & Grading Large mounds would be created using the murum available on the site. This would go with
the theme of the region which is rolling hills and valleys. The factory will appear to have been built without disturbing the natural shape and contour. 3. Black cotton soil would be used as the top soil with structural amendments to make it suitable for landscape.
a. Weed control program would be undertaken to minimize future maintenance issues.
b. Laterite soil would be used only for turf areas.
4. Ground covers and grasses would be uses as an alternate to turf. Turf would be used in limited areas not exceeding 20%.
5. Shrubs would be used to add interest at eye level. Flowering shrubs that would add fragrances, and different color throughout the year.
6. Natural form would be preferred over pruned hedges and topiaries.
This is better suited for reducing maintenance costs.

Design Brief
7. Planting would be used in a way to protect the areas from being used for dumping materials or walking across.(nr. Pedestrian areas) Spider lilly along walkways etc.
8. Ground covers would be planted under shrubs and trees so no soil is seen. All areas where planting groundcovers is not
suitable gravel would be used.
9. Plaza area around the canteen to allow people to spill into after lunch hours.
10. Layered planting of tall trees + palms + Tall shrubs + short shrubs + ground covers would be done. Plant would be grouped and
planted based on their color, textures, growing habits flowering season etc.

Design Brief
11. LIVING BREATHING GARDENS we can create a large waterbody to be used as a reservoir for irrigation.
It would be cheaper to install and offers a good landscape feature. This would be used using specialized pond liners.
A large tiered bio filtration system to be used for treating storm water and STP water. The recycled water is used for
irrigation and toilet flushing 12. Special product focus: instead of using constructed brickwork or kerbs to separate the shrubs and groundcovers, we recommend edging material made for the specific purpose.
13. Interiorscaping: Plants Such as Sanseveria, Scindapsus etc are strategically arranged for air purification and oxygen
enhancement
14. Irrigation: would be done by manual or automatic depending on zones

Elevators and escalators are high end lux ornaments that adorn and bind the landscape & architecture together.
Its bridge for human movement through built and natural form

Design Statement
The straight lines movement of the
elevators and escalators in built architecture & its facade is alluded in landscape. The criss-cross movement at right angles in
exterior landscape is inventing
the future where these structures are given intelligence receptive to human
presence. The driving future is when
it takes the shortest route in space of towers vertically and horizontally. This sustenance reflects & goes deeper into a
living breathing working landscape with bio systems

Master Plan / Entry . Parking
Pervious gravel based parking will infiltrate the water into soil raising water table. The road and roof run off is collected in bio swales reducing civil infrastructure cost. Water collected is treated with vegetated root zones that is colorful and native in appearance adding to the garden ambience and vistas from far sagc Lansol.IN
