    Tourism sector inColombia

    Tourism in Colombia is an important sectorin countrys economy. Colombia has majorattractions as a tourist destination.

    Data shows that from 2004 to February2010 foreign visitor to Colombia rose 42percent from 790,000 to 1,370,000 people.Only in 2009 when world tourism fell at arate of seven percent, the colombian

    tourism increased by 10.7 percent a total of130,800 passengers more than a previousyear.

    The World Travel & Tourism Council(WTTC) for 2015 expects an annual growth

    Political:-

    Colombias politics have changed and there hasbeen a positive effect on its society, and for thepast three years or so the situation has been morestable.

    Colombia has a two party system divided byliberals and conservatives. Even though Colombiais one of the oldest democracies of SouthAmerica, the country has had a long tradition ofinstability, civil wars, and revolts. Thegovernment, drug gangs, and guerrilla groupssuch as FARC were in a constant battle.

    Economic:-

    Tourism demand is strongly affected by prevailing economicconditions

    It is much closer to North and Central America than otherSouth American countries, and this is reflected in the largernumbers of trips to this country. Central and South Americawere the only destinations to record an increase of 0.4% from

    January through July 2009, with a market share of 6.5% forSouth America in total.

    As stated in the ITB Berlin Report, the international AirTransport Association has reported a 5% decline worldwide,with Latin American Airlines suffering the smallest drop in

    international passenger traffic. The prediction is that between2009 and 2028 air traffic between Europe and Latin America
