Before you do it, take time to think through it
1. Hazards in construction sites
The major hazards in construction sites are shown above; the passerby should make a note of it and beware of such hazards. The project execution team must take necessary step to mitigate these hazards and prevent unwanted incidents.
2. Lessons learned
Crush injury while lifting grating Date & Time : 27th June 2013 & 5.45 Hrs
Location : Unit # 8, Feed cycle
Details : Hi-Pot Incident/ LWDC
Description : While repositioning the grating by two contractor personnel, one worker had removed the
spanner which was supporting the grating. This resulted in other worker’s right hand fingers
getting caught in between the grating & the supporting groove. The victim sustained cut injury
on high right hand index, middle & ring finger. He was sent to Inlaks hospital for further
treatment.

1. Proper lifting tools to be provided for lifting the grating. 2. Proper approach should be provided for valves in all such place where grating removal
is required. 3. Light weight grating to be provided with hinges on side to lift easily.
3. Mock drills-Aug’13
Mock drills were conducted in wind sites following scenarious were considered „Communicable
diseases‟, „Snake bite‟,& „Food poisoning‟. Areas for improvement were observed and action
plan is taken
4. Corporate Safety Highlights Aug’13
Corp. Safety conducted comprehensive Office Fire & Safety audit at SED Office (Mumbai), Backbay & Carnac.
Inputs for fire prevention & protection provided to Hydros and Transmission regarding oil
tank storage & transformers protection.
Reviewed & made appropriate comments on CSM requirements for Avifauna report at
Hanamsagar wind project.
Conducted meeting with MO representatives for road map on DMP in line with NDMA
guidelines & BCP.
Shared inputs on high rise building on regulations & statutory process to Noida office.
Prepared minimum safety standard for contracted buses & drivers and the document
forwarded to CCO for necessary action.
5. Safety training – Aug’13
Session on “Electrical Safety”, “Safety while working in Insulated-Gate Bipolar Transistor
(IGBT)”, “Working at Height”, “Safety in Welding & Cutting” & “Importance of reporting
near miss” were conducted at various wind sites
“Basic safety & IMS awareness”, “Working at height”, “Scaffold safety” trainings were
conducted for contractors and “Health related training”, “Defensive driving”, “First aid fire
fighting”, “PTW” trainings were conducted for own employees at Trombay

7. Security Highlights
I. Trombay
01 AUG.2013 – M.O SECURITY OFFICERS Meeting held at QAIT Conference room at STN-A, duly attended by Col. Pradeep B Dalvi, Lt col. Sawant, GM Gupta, P S Bani, S S Giri, V S Narkar & Mr. S S Malwadkar were present during meeting.
13 AUG.2013 – Voices sessions for non-mgt. and Mgt. staffs were conducted from 0930hrs to 1230hrs and 1400hrs to 1700hrs respectively at security conference room, duly attended by Col. Pradeep B Dalvi, Mr. Kunjvihari, GM Gupta, P S Bani, VRK, V Yogesh Roy and Ajay S Chouhan participated in the same.
15 AUG.2013 – The 67TH Independence Day was celebrated with high spirit, pride, enthusiasm and dignity at Trombay Thermal Power Station, Security, Operation, Fire Dept. and Admin. Actively participated in celebration.
22 AUG.2013 – Mr. S N Rudrappa, Chief-Security & Vigilance paid introductory visit to Trombay, all officials of MO Area attended the meeting. Also visited to Coal Berth Jetty, CW Jetty & Security Command Control Room.
29 AUG.2013 – A briefing session for MGB Supervisor was carried out at security
conference hall between 1900hrs to 2000hrs.
30 AUG.2013 – The ISPS Training for security personnel was conducted at Coal Jetty from 0730hrs to 0830hrs.
II. CGPL
67th INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION: CGPL Mundra celebrated 67th Independence Day at site with full enthusiasm & Zest. Chief Guest of the ceremony Sh. Krishna Kumar Sharma, Executive Director & CEO – CGPL, hoisted the National flag and paid homage to the freedom fighters in his address to the CGPL. A Contingent of immaculately dressed men in uniform carried out Ceremonial parade and saluted the National Flag. Chief Guest of the ceremony inspected the parade.
For the dutifulness, Discipline and Honesty of security guards at Work, prizes were distributed by Mr. KK Sharma and Mr. Sharad Baijal.
Tiny toddlers from our CGPL Calorx Public School made the day memorable by their superb and entertaining performance.
Ceremony was concluded by the Vote of thanks by Chief Manager Security Capt.V.K Dogra.
After Flag Hoisting and prize distribution ceremony, a BADA KHANA was organized at CGPL Canteen wherein Mr. K.K. Sharma, Mr. Sharad Baijal, Mrs. & Mr. Ramesh Kumar Dhawan, Mr. Nayan Taunk, Mr. Homi J Mehta & Mr. Anil Singh along with Security Members served the food to Security Guards.
TRAINING ON MATERIAL MANAGEMENT:
25.08.2013: In between 1730 to 1830hrs, a training related to “Company/contractor Material” conducted at CGPL SCR. The program was conducted by SO Bidhi Chand in which training regarding a “Material in & out processes” was given to security staff members.
PUBLIC HEARING CONDUCTED BY CGPL AT SURVEY NO. 517:
A scheduled Public Hearing was conducted by CGPL in its plot, survey no. 517 from 1130 hrs to 1740 hrs. The event went well under umbrella of full safety and security cover.
III. Jojobera
Independence Day Activities:

national flag on the occasion of 15 the August, 2013 at Jojobera
Social activities- 1) In the first week of August 2013, Tata Community Football tournament was jointly organized by all the Tata Group companies. About 1500 village level teams of East Singhbhum and neighboring districts participated. Head Security, Mr. Sunil Kumar was an active member of organizing team. On 08/08/13 final match followed by musical programme was organized. 2) Head Security attended as Spl Invitee blood donation camp on 27/08/13, organized by the villagers of Govindpur. 3) Head Security with team actively attended Homeopathic camp organized by Tata Power at Govindpur on 30/08/2013.
Training activities- A) Security awareness classes were given to 154 contract workmen during the safety training by the security officers of Tata power to make the contractor’s workmen aware of the Do's and Don’ts in respect to security, while working inside the Plant area. B) The training to 25 security personnel of GURU Security Force was given on Night Patrol duty and 03 Guards were given training on intelligence collection and vigilance.
IV. MPL 67th INDEPENDENCE DAY – 2013 was celebrated at Maithon Power Limited, Maithon with
great zeal and enthusiasm. Head- Railway Project Mr. C.B.Singh Hoisted the national flag.
25 Security & Fire personnel were awarded for their outstanding performance and property recovery.
TREE PLANTATION BY SECURITY STAFF
Tree plantation program was an attraction of the day where all officials of MPL along with Security & Fire team planted saplings beside MPL Fire station.
Also final match of the ongoing intercompany tournament organized by MPL Security & Fire dept was also played on the day between G4S and Bright Security Services, just after tree plantation to mark 67th Independence Day a memorable day at MPL site. An entertaining tough final match between BSS and G4S was witnessed in which G4S won the final match and clinched the MPL Warriors Trophy – 2013. Mr. Prakash Sharma Head /MMD handed over the Winners and Runners up trophy to both teams.
V. T & D( SALSETTE)
A Mock drill was carried with the help of Bandup police at salsette on 24 Aug 13 at 1600hrs.
Aim:- The aim of this exercise was to streamline the procedures and actions to be initiated during terrorist attack in our location.
Participation:- a) Mumbai police elite commandos (Force One):- 25 commandos. b) Terrorists (Police personnel):- 03 (permission was taken to place this personnel inside
our complex before the exercise). c) Bhandup police:- 30 police men including 02 armoured vehicles and 04 police Mobile. d) Security staff of TATA power.
Conduct:- The exercise started at 1600 hrs with our own security staff passing message to the police about the incident. Bandup police cordoned the area and after assessment of terrorist presence in the complex, passed the message to force one who arrived at 1715hrs. The force one completed the operation and gave all “OK” report at 1830 hrs.
NATIONAL FLAG HOISTING CEREMONY ON INDEPNDENCE DAY AT CORP HQ,CARNAC
Mr. S Padmanabhan, ED(O), -Tata Power unfurled the national flag supported by T & D security team and Mumbai Police contingent in Carnac premises. Also attended by Mr. Mahiar Mehta (head Admin), Mr. Chetan Tolia, CHRO, Mr. Sanjay Dube, Chief Finance, Mr. SN Rudrappa, Chief Sec & Vigilance
