Basic Safety Rules

Lifting a vehicle(Jack)

• Place jack on structural part of the car

• Jack slowly

• Use a jack stand

• Place handle in upright position

Lifting a Vehicle (Hoist)

• Center the vehicle in the bay

• Set arms on structural parts

• Have instructor check positioning

• Lift car six inches from floor and check

• When car is at proper height, placed hoist on safety locks

• Starters– Crank no longer than 30 seconds

• Battery– Disconnect negative first– Don’t charge when frozen– Don’t short between terminals– Use low setting when possible

• Air Pressure– OSHA regulates shop pressure at 90 psi
