Fire Suppression

FM-200: FM-200 is the most widely used Halon replacement. It provides a rapid suppression with a short discharge time of typically six to ten seconds. With a relatively small cylinder storage footprint, it is ideally suited to use in areas where space is at a premium or weight restrictions apply. Effective on class A, B or C fires FM-200 extinguishes fires quickly through a combination of chemical interaction and physical heat removal. The device does not smother flames but removes heat from fire and not oxygen from the environment. FM-200 absorbs heat from the flame zone and interrupts the propagation of the combustion process.

Argonite: Argonite is an inert gas blend of argon and nitrogen, which occur naturally in the environment. It works by displacing oxygen and reducing it from the normal 21% to a level that will not support combustion. The space required for inert gas storage cylinders is greater then that needed for chemical agents. The cylinders are mounted in rows and may be stored in any suitable location, even up to 100 metres away from the protected areas.

Carbon Dioxide: Clean agent carbon dioxide systems, have been an industry standard for many decades and are still the preferred agent in many applications. CO2 is a colourless, odourless, dry, inert gas and is one of the most well known of all fire extinguishants. Highly versatile, it can be used for total flooding or in local application. Another advantage is that it is relatively inexpensive due to being readily available for low cost total re-charge.

Evacuation/PA SystemsChubb provides state-of-the-art computerised public address and evacuation systems. These systems are fully managed via a graphical user interface with built in pre-recorded messages which can be played when certain events occur e.g. fire alarms, critical building alarms, general messages, etc. These systems are designed with built in redundancy which will automatically switch to a standby rack in the event of a power failure.

Marine SafetyChubb offers a complete range of products for the marine market, including fire and gas detection systems, gaseous fire extinguishing systems, firefighting equipment, water mist protection and access control systems. Chubb is approved by various class societies, including SAMSA, DNV, ABS, Germanischer Lloyd, Bureau Veritas, Lloyds Register and various others.

Advance Analogue Addressable SystemsThis programmable, software based system provides early warning of fire or smoke. In addition, automatic checking of wiring and sensors, corrupt data detection and disconnection of faulty zones is supported. Adjustable sensitivity, alarm verification and pre-alarm provide early warning without causing false alarms and built-in diagnostics improve the level of maintenance reducing costs. Included are remote diagnostic support (optional), sensor testing, status reports and contamination and near service reports. The peer-to-peer network allows standalone systems to be integrated to provide system-wide alarm reporting, coordinated evacuation, cross-panel cause-and-effect functionality, for large systems and multi-building sites.

Fire Detection

Chubb is qualified to design and install either networked or standalone fire detection and alarm systems for small, large, single or multiple sites. In addition, fire extinguishing systems can be integrated into fire detection or alarm systems. Our systems are designed to ensure rapid knockdown by flooding the area of a fire with the appropriate agent including clean gaseous agents, inert gases, foams, powder, and CO2 or water mist.

Control Panels

Conventional Systems (non addressable)Our conventional systems are designed to provide professional, reliable detection of fire at a low cost. We offer proven, microprocessor-based hardware and robust software ensuring reliable operation. In addition, our sophisticated range of conventional panels feature control and indication facilities for two, four, eight, sixteen and thirty two zone systems. Up to a maximum of thirty two automatic detectors and/or manual call points can be connected to each zone.

CCTV is a critical security tool, not only for security requirements but as a day to day management tool. The presence of CCTV has the potential to reduce crime and a proper, well designed system will reduce manpower costs and improve efficiencies.

Shrinkage will be considerably reduced with the introduction of a CCTV system.

CCTV camera applications can be used in commercial, industrial, manufacturing and domestic

environments. There are a multitude of different cameras available, depending on the specific application.

Face and number plate recognition cameras These high definition cameras are applicable where facial or number plate recognition is important.

Pan, tilt and zoom cameras (PTZ) These cameras can be manned and operated either on or off site, and allow the user to zoom in or change the angle of the camera (pan, tilt and zoom) to obtain a better vantage point.

Infra Red (multi focal) cameras These cameras are suitable for day and night viewing, specifically in poor and varying light conditions.

Wireless camerasThese cameras are applicable to sites with no wire ways to run cable to a DVR or Monitoring Centre.

IP CamerasThese cameras allow connection through an existing LAN network, with the restriction of only allowing authorised users to view footage.

Wireless cameras with alarm input and SMS facility Wireless infra red detectors can be combined with a wireless camera for high risk areas. The camera will transmit 15 second video clips via the GPRS network to a cell phone on alarm activation.

Networkable The option exists to have a dial in facility to view cameras remotely with real time recording. Footage can then be saved to either a hard drive or memory stick.

Access control systems cater for virtually an unlimited number of users, with proximity cards, uniquely encoded key ring tags or biometrics (fingerprint readers).

Biometric ReadersBiometric readers provide increased security by assessing and identifying a person’s unique body feature. Biometric devices can be used as standalone devices or combined with a cardholders badge or pin for secure, fast and effective access control.

Smart CardsWe offer a two-in-one solution that combines a biometric device and smart card reader, using standard non contact smart card technology. Fingerprint or hand geometry templates are captured during enrollment and directly writ-ten to a smart card chip.

Enterprise access cards consolidate employee credentials onto a single, se-cure smart card providing photo ID as well as a security device that enables secure windows and network login, PC ‘locking’, secure remote access (VPN), secure e mail with digital signatures and single sign-on to your enterprise and desktop applications. Intercoms & Video IntercomsFor domestic, complex, commercial and industrial use Chubb installs and services intercoms and video intercom systems. These allow for the verification and remote control of entry and exit into your home or business, without you having to leave the safety of the building.

Mantrap DoorsChubb installs mantrap doors. These double doors eliminate free access and allow for access control in high risk areas. The first door must be closed before the second door will open. In addition mantrap doors are able to restrict the quantity of people entering at one time.

Vehicle BarriersChubb installs and services boom gates. These restrict access into secure areas, and can be linked to an access control system. Number plate recognition cameras can be installed at boom points.

Metal Detectors & ScannersChubb installs and supplies walk through and hand held metal detectors and scan-ners. These allow for pre-entry scanning in high risk areas, offering the ability to identify and eliminate the risk of firearms and other dangerous weapons entering a facility.

TurnstilesChubb installs and maintains turnstiles. Turnstiles are used to restrict free entry onto premises or secure areas. Turnstiles can be released through an access control re-lease tag, with the option of an anti pass back facility. The time and date of entry can also be recorded on access control software.

Internal Protection

An intruder alarm system is designed to detect intruder presence at your premises. When detected, a siren will activate and communicate an alarm signal to one of our highly sophisticated Monitoring centres, from where an appropriate response will be coordinated. Intruder systems can be either hard wired or wireless.

The purpose of an intruder alarm system is:- To protect the physical assets and people within a premises- To deter crime and vandalism- To ensure a prompt armed response service is dispatched in response to

an alarm signal

Commonly utilised detection devices include:- Passive Infra Red Sensors (PIR’s) - we offer microwave, digital and dual

technology PIR’s that are either wall or ceiling mounted. Our PIR’s are also pet immune, an important factor when considering false alarms

The key to an effective intruder alarm system is the careful selection and placement of the detection devices, so as to best suit the environment and risk level. This is why we recommend that one employs the services of a quali-fied security expert who is able to advise on the appropriate placement of all detection devices.

Video Security - UnpluggedWireless video security, where and when you need it.

“Videofied” is wireless Infra red technology combined with wireless camera recording, which allows the wireless transmission of video footage for high risk areas. “Videofied” integrates seamlessly with Chubb’s MAStermind monitoring platform.

The camera will record a 15 second video clip when the detector detects movement in its coverage area. A 200k MPEG video clip will then be transmit-ted via the GPRS network to the Chubb Monitoring Centre on alarm activa-tion. From here, the video clip can be sent to pre selected cell phone numbers for viewing.

Radio communications and no A/C connections make this totally wireless battery operated video security system discreet and easy to deploy. The “vid-eofied” control panel is able to communicate with any of the Chubb Moni-toring Centres via the GPRS cellular network, Ethernet or standard telephone lines.

Process MonitoringChubb has the ability to perform process monitoring via our MAStermind plat-form. We are able to link fridges, pumps, pressure gauges and various other devices to your alarm control panel. In the event of an activation, for example a fridge not remaining at the correct temperature, a signal will be sent to the Monitoring Centre. The system will then send a SMS to selected recipients, which then escalates to a telephone call to challenge the signal. The process monitoring feature can also be linked to vending machines to indicate when a machine needs to be restocked or when cash containers are full.

External Protection

Beams and PassivesPoint to point beams and outdoor detectors are mounted externally as an early warning system. These devices can be linked to your alarm system. When the infra red beam is broken or motion is detected by outdoor devices, an alarm will be triggered.

Electric FencingElectric fencing deters unauthorised people from entering your premises. It provides an early warning of potential intrusion, in addition to a physical bar-rier that delays intrusion time.

An electric fence consists of electric wires carrying high voltage electric puls-es that provide a non-lethal shock to an intruder. The electric fence has a lo-cal sounder and can be linked to your alarm system, to send a signal to your Monitoring Centre in the event of a security breach.

Electric fences can be installed on top of existing walls or as stand alone fences. They are suited to domestic, commercial, industrial and agricultural applications.
