SAE BAJA event was held at Indore on 16 th February, 2016 to 23 rd February, 2016 in which a total of 396 teams participated from all over India. Our MAIT team JATAYU got 1 st position among the North Indian teams including IIT Roorkee, NIT Jallundhar, NIT Kurukshetra, PEC University Chandigarh, Guru Nanak Dev Engg. College Ludhiana, Amity University Noida, IGIT Delhi etc Our team got 16 th position all over India. Out of 9 final year students - 7 qualified the BAT (Placement exam conducted by SAE India) and four students were placed in the different companies. 1. Mr. Vipul got placed in Eleation with annual package of Rs. 5.5 lacs 2. Mr. ChetanDidwani got selected in Varroc with annual package of Rs. 4.0 lacs 3.Mr. Rajat got selected in ARAI with annual package of Rs. 3.5 lacs 4.Mr. VaibhavTyagi got selected in Mahindera&Mahindera with annual package of Rs. 5.75 lacs. - SAE BAJA EVENT AT INDORE SAEINDIA Collegiate Club Activities SAEINDIA collegiate club team “JATAYU” participated in three off-road competitions this year, which were organized at following place:- (i) Budh International Circuit (BSI), Greater Noida on 22-26 Jan 2016. (ii) NATRIP (BAJA SAE), Indore on 16 -23 Feb 2016. (iii) Rochester, USA (SAE International) on 9 -12 June 2016. January- July 2016 Team JATAYU at BAJA SAE Rochester Competition, USA Mahraja Agrasen Institute of Technology sponsored the Team Jatayu (which included 7 students and one faculty) for participation in SAE BAJA event at Rochester USA during 9- 12 June 2016. MAIT provided Rs.4.5 lakh for to and from transportation and Rs.75000/- for faculty member. The competition began on 9th June 2016 and team JATAYU cleared its engine inspection successfully. on that day, the team also had a decent showing at sales event On 10th June team had Design Event where our team secured 12th rank all over the world while being the first from India. The second Indian team had 28th rank worldwide so we had a good lead over others in this event, The team cleared its technical inspection on 11th June morning without any hiccups.. Brake test followed technical inspection and the team cleared the brake test in first attempt too. After that team JATATU completed the acceleration, maneuverability and hill climb events. Next day was a crucial day as it had the endurance race. The track was the most difficult track that team had ever witnessed and racing was amongst the best schools like Michigan Ann Harbour, Cornell University, etc. The team had an axle failure during the endurance race due to which team Jatayu lost half an hour during that time. But Jatayu completed the endurance race successfully and were 2 nd amongst Indian teams, trailing by just 2 laps from the one coming first and secured 36 th rank. Overall event rank 52 out of 105. Country participated USA, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela and INDIA. This was the team’s first showing at an international event and the learning experience was immense, Jatayu was the smallest team contingent at the competition comprising of 7 students and 1 faculty only. This was just a beginning for better things to come and learnings over here will only motivate to grow even more and achieve higher goals.

•New equipments worth Rs 2.50 lakhs were purchased in

Mechanics of Solid and Mechanics of Fluids Laboratory.

•A new lab is being developed for Heat Transfer and

I.C.Engine. Purchase order of equipments worth Rs 3.5 Lakh

has already placed.

•New Lab for Automotive Engineering will be developed

during 2016-2017.

Poster presentation on design of Haptic Arm

Development of Labs

5th International Symposium on Fusion of Science and

Technology (ISFT) was held at National Agricultural Science

Center, Pusa, Delhi from January 18-22, 2016. Mr. Manik

Singla, a 3rd year MAE student participated in this event and

presented a poster presentation on “Designing of Haptic Arm

based on Tilt Sensor Accelerometer” in the field of robotics.

The presentation was highly appreciated by the organizing

committee of the event.

The poster explained the amalgamation of haptic technology

and robotics which can help the people with various

disabilities along with their ability to work in varied climates

and dangerous sites.

GIAN Course Five faculty members of the Department attended a GIAN

course on ‘Production Planning for Manufacturing

Excellence’ during July 4 - 8, 2016 organised by DTU under

the aegis of Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

Spoken Tutorial course

During Jan-May 2016, A course on Scilab was organized for

3rd year MAE students with the help of Spoken Tutorials

Project of IIT Bombay. Two hundred one students attended

the course successfully. The evaluation was done through

online examinations and certificate to each successful

student was provided by IIT Bombay.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO RUSKIN TITUS INDIA PVT. LTD

Industrial visit is a part of the educational tour which provides students with an opportunity to learn practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices. An industrial visit to Ruskin Titus India Private Ltd, Manesar was organized on 12th March, 2016 for students of Mechanical and Automation Engineering Dept. This company deals in manufacturing of Air Distribution products. The students learned about factory fabricated ducting, dampers, diffusers, smoke eliminators, fans, louvers, variable air volume (VAV) and many more. The company gave the information about all the products and how these are used by Delhi Metro and other corporations The students were also shown the sheet rolling processes, welding processes and silencers.,

Highlighting features of team Jatayu’s Vehicle

The Vehicle has a top speed of 55 Kmph.

It takes less time to reach 0 to 60 than pulsar motorcycle.

The vehicle can perform hill climb till 45 degrees angle.

It can pull a bus.

The vehicle is light weight as well as strong.

The vehicle’s ergonomics is good which makes it very

comfortable for the driver.
