Saints of the Week

March 25—The Annunciation of the Lord

The Annunciation, also referred to as

the Annunciation to the Blessed Vir-

gin Mary, the Annunciation of Our

Lady, or the Annunciation of the

Lord, is the Catholic celebration of

the announcement by the Archangel

Gabriel to the Blessed Virgin Mary

that she would conceive and become

the mother of Jesus, the Son of God, marking His Incarnation.

Gabriel told Mary to name her son Yeshua, meaning "YHWH

is salvation".

We apologize for the fact that there were no Stations of the

Cross on Friday, March 15th . However, I was in Michigan,

giving a retreat, and Fr. Tinh was out anointing a parishioner.

Aside from that, there was an 9 alarm fire in East Boston,

which gridlocked all traffic in the city, making getting around

virtually impossible.

We will resume Stations of the Cross again Friday, March

22nd.

Thank you,

Fr. Guy

Perpetual Candles at Sacred Heart

As May is the month of Our Lady, we are reminded that our greatest intercessor is Our Lady.

We are blessed to have three sacred spaces with candles at which we can light a candle for our

prayers and special intentions.

These candles can be used for weekly visits, as many of you already do. There is also the pos-

sibility to reserve a candle for a month(s) or a year. Some of the intentions for which a num-

ber of parishioners have reserved candles:

Deceased or living family

Condolence for friends or family

Anniversary of Marriage

Birthday

Automatically with the condolences, we send a letter to notify the grieving family of the candle

lit in our church for their loved one. We can also send a letter when requested for the others.

Visit one of our candle devotional spaces to light a candle. Fill out the form below to re-

serve a candle for a month or year.

Prayer to Saint Michael:

Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle, be

our defense against the wickedness and snares of the

devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do

thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of

God, thrust into Hell Satan and the other evil spirits

who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Preghiera a San Michele:

San Michele Arcangelo, difendici nella battaglia; sii tu nostro sostegno contro la perfidia e le insidie del diavolo; che Dio eserciti il suo dominio su di lui, te ne preghiamo supplichevoli; e tu, o Principe della milizia celeste, con la potenza divina, ricaccia nell'inferno satana e gli altri spiriti maligni i quali errano nel mondo per perdere le anime. AMEN.

Values that Last a Lifetime!

Bulletin Column for the 3rd Sunday of Lent

Lent is just about half over. How are we all doing? Have we stuck perfectly to our Lenten promises? It’s the spirit of the prom-

ise that counts. God knows what is the intention of our hearts. We may have given up sweets, caffeine, bread, or any number of

things. We may have resolved to do something extra for someone: some act of kindness, or some word of encouragement.

Maybe we haven’t been perfect in keeping our Lenten promises. But don’t get discouraged! We don’t have to be perfectly per-

fect. All we have to do is strive for perfection. That’s all we can do in this life.

I think sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves. We set goals for ourselves that are unreasonable and when we fall

short we give up. This is not the spirit of Lent or Lenten promises. It’s never too late to start over. Even though Lent is half over,

if we have fallen short, start over! Continue on! Jesus fell three times. He didn’t give up. He got up and continued on to His des-

tination – the Cross and our salvation.

So, even though Lent is half over, don’t be discouraged if you didn’t perfectly fulfill your Lenten promises. Don’t give up. Get

up! And follow Jesus to the foot of the Cross. The Lord knows the intention of our hearts and rewards us for those good inten-

tions.

God bless you all,

Fr. Guy

ALTAR SERVERS

Altar serving is an important lay ministry in the Church. The altar

server assists the priest at the altar during liturgy which helps the liturgy

flow in a smooth and reverent manner.

You don’t have to be a child to be an altar server. I have adults who as-

sist me at funerals and at weekday Masses.. This is a wonderful way to

enhance your liturgical experience. Please consider becoming an altar

server.

Thank you.
