Annunciation Diptych (Gospel of Luke)
When we approach scripture from an exegesis perspective it gives much into the way of insight and how to understand the text itself. This informs the reader and help arrest false or personal interpretation. The structure points to the way of developing the inner meaning of the text itself. See if you can determine what it might be saying?
Fourth week of Advent – the Candle of Peace “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” Martin Luther King Jr., “You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us. And the world will live as one.” John Lennon “An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.” Mahatma Gandhi “Peace begins with a smile.” Mother Teresa “Don't gain the world & lose your soul, wisdom is better than silver or gold.” Bob Marley “Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.” Albert Einstein “Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.” Siddhārtha Gautama “Grudges are for those who insist that they are owed something; forgiveness, however, is for those who are substantial enough to move on.” Criss Jami. “A quiet conscience makes one strong!” Anne Frank, “May the peace of God be with you,” she says, her voice low, “even in the midst of trouble.” “Why would it?” I say softly, so no one else can hear. “After all I’ve done...” “It isn’t about you,” she says. “It is a gift. You cannot earn it, or it ceases to be a gift.” Veronica Roth
There are a number of foretold births in the Old Testament
Hannah the mother of Samson, (Judg:13:24)
Judges 13:3 “and the angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her
‘although you are barren having born no children, you shall conceive and bear
a son. The woman bore a son and named him Samson.”
All these children were naturally conceived. Jesus is conceive in an
extraordinary manner through the power of God ‘overshadowing’ Mary.
Otherwise Jesus would be just be another foretold birth of whom John the
Baptist is the last.
I would like to set up a liturgy group next year to help with Mass planning and execution.
This will begin with a couple of Adult Education Session to explain how the liturgy works
as a unit and also explaining liturgical seasons—the colours used—the themes for focus
and how to construct appropriate prayers for each season. We will hopefully meet once
a fortnight to plan the Masses and to allocate tasks etc. If you are interested please let
me know so we can begin in early February. Fr. John
1st Collection—this money is used to support Fr John and the priests of the Archdiocese.
2nd Collection—this money is used to pay for the running of and the upkeep of our Parish.
$1,822.70 (weekly, fortnightly, monthly, annual) donations from last week.
We need $3K per week just to meet our everyday running cost.

Thought for the Week
Mary's “Yes,” Her obedience to God's call changed the world. How many
times have we said “No,” to God? How different would things be – for us
and for others – if we had said “Yes,” to him more often? “
