Free-Throw Competition

The Sacred Heart of Jesus Council of the Knights of Columbus would like to thank the young men and women that came out for the Annual Free Throw Competition on Saturday, January 13th. This year our council will be sending a total of six competitors (two young ladies and four young men) to the Regional Competition. The Regional Competition is currently scheduled to be held at Cardinal O’Hara High School on Saturday, March 3rd at 1:00 pm. A special thank you to the parents for braving the cold and bringing out the competitors. Good luck to our District Winners!

2018 Living Stations

Living Stations of the Cross

Wednesday, February 14th, is Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of the Lenten season. Lent is a time of prayer and reflection and a time to look inward and “clean house.” Lent is also a wonderful time to think about giving of yourself - your time and your talents. Sacred Heart Youth Ministry is looking for students from the parish in 5th through 12th grades to help with its production of the Living Stations of the Cross. We are in need of readers, actors, singers, and musicians. We rehearse on t Thursdays during Lent from 7:00 to 8:00 PM in the church, and our reenactment takes place on the evening of Good Friday, March 30th. It is a wonderful experience, prayer-ful and reverent, and it is a meaningful Lenten sacrifice. We also have a lot of fun. Please consider joining us on Thursday, February 15th, at 7:00 PM in the church for an organizational meeting and first re-hearsal. If you have any questions, please contact Amy Mur-phy at 610-345-0428 or [email protected].

Contemporary Music Group

We are looking to form a contemporary music group to provide the music for The Living Stations of the Cross. Traditionally our parish youth have made up this group, but we would like to add more adults. We are also in need of instrumentalists, such as pianists, guitarists, and percussionists. A flute or violin would be a nice addition. We will practice in the Chapel (Cry Room) on Thursdays during Lent from 7:00 to 8:00 PM begin-ning on Thursday, February 15th. The Living Stations of the Cross are held on Good Friday evening (March 30th) at 7:00 PM. Please consider joining us and sharing your talents! It is hoped that this opportunity may springboard into a more permanent parish musical group. If you have any questions, please contact Amy Murphy at 610-345-0428 or [email protected].

Sacred Heart Giving

Jan 20/21

Sunday: $11,367.16 Catholic Relief Services: $2,409.00

Poor Box: $108.00

Thank you for your generous support!

Have you heard about electronic giving? It’s an easy way to donate to Sacred Heart online with either a checking or savings account, or your credit card (Have one that gives you rewards for every dollar you spend? These dollars count, so it’s a win!). You can schedule any day of the month you like and for any of our collec-tions including special collections. Please consider sign-ing up by visiting our website www.sacredheart.us and clicking the DONATE link at the top left of the page. It’s safe, it’s easy: parish giving. With questions, call Kaitlyn Sceski in the parish office 610-932-5040 ext. 2.

Our next scheduled host week for Family Promise of Southern Chester County is Sunday, February 25th through Sunday March 4th. We are looking for assistance with meals, over-night stays, set up, breakdown and laundry.

The Ministry is in need of a co-coordinator as well. If you find you’re able to help these homeless families from our community, please call our Parish Office at 610-932-5040.

Greeters for God’s House –

A Smile and Words of Welcome!

We are looking for Volunteers to have as Greeters to assist with distributing bulletins before mass, offer an invitation to parishioners and visitors to join them in the Parish Hall after mass for coffee, conversation and fellowship when needed. If you would like to be involved in this Ministry, please contact Gloria-Jean Campbell at [email protected] or via the Parish Office at #610-932-5040. Thank you!

Aid For Friends

We are currently looking for a Volunteer Coordinator for the Aid for Friends Ministry and help with maintaining some sup-plies. At this time, Dana Felder has to step down as Coordina-tor, a position she has held for several years. Many thanks to Dana for all of her assistance with this ministry at Sacred Heart. It is most appreciated! Aid for Friends is a wonderful program that helps feed our parish community. Parishioners have been extremely gener-ous in making meals and placing them into the freezer located in the hall closet. Last month, our parish was able to distribute 140 meals and 23 soups to Neighborhood Services and Divine Sent Food Cupboard. If you have time to prepare a meal(s) or have some leftovers after feeding your family, please use the provided containers and place them in our freezer. There are containers, labels, and bags located in the storage cabinet next to the freezer. If you are interested in being a Coordinator for this ministry, please contact Gloria-Jean Campbell via email at [email protected] or the Parish Office #610-932-5040. Thank you!

Good Samaritan Ministry Volunteers are needed to help with 2 requests: One parish-ioner is in need of some muscle to move a few filing cabinets and their contents. This job would likely take 2-4 hours and would be best completed on a Saturday or Sunday. The 2nd request is for visiting a homebound woman who would love a friendly face and some conversation. This re-quest is very flexible and can be any day or evening. Please contact Michelle Sapp at [email protected] or call the office at 610-932-5040 if you can offer assistance.

Charismatic Prayer Group Come join us every Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM in our Chapel for prayer and song

before the Exposed Blessed Sacrament. Music is offered by Carol Stanley on guitar as prayer intentions are offered to our Lord. The praise and worship of our Lord with song is sooth-ing to the soul. If you’d like more information, you can con-tact Ministry Leader Rita Marra at [email protected], or just come to a meeting and experience the graces of being in Christ’s presence.

Our Lady of Fatima - The Five First Saturdays Devotion

Our Lady of Fatima Rosary is recited every 1st Saturday of the month at 4:15 pm right here at Sacred Heart! Next Saturday - Feb 3rd, 2018

During her July apparition at Fatima, Our Lady said to Lucia, “I shall come to ask... that on the First Saturday of every month, Communions of reparation be made in atonement for the sins of the world. Tell them that I promise to assist at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation all those who, in order to make reparation to me, on the First Saturday of five successive months, go to Confession, receive Holy Communion, say five decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for a quarter of an hour, meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary.” To those who faithfully follow Our Lady’s requests for the Five First Saturdays, she has made a wonderful promise in which she, as Mediatrix of All Graces, will certainly fulfill:

“I promise to assist at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation.”
