PARISH EVENTS THIS WEEK
TASTE OF FAITH DINNER - CANCELLED The annual Taste of Faith Dinner to benefit the Diocese of Li le Rock seminarians, sponsored by our local Knights of Columbus (Council 10208), has been cancelled due to concerns for the health and safety of parishioners and uncertainty around pandemic restric ons. Addi onal informa on on this previously scheduled, July 24th, dinner for a possible future date or on ways we can support our seminarians, if we do not have this event in 2020, will be forthcoming.
IN SEARCH OF HEALTH CARE VOLUNTEERS Sacred Heart of Jesus recently approved the crea on of a Health Ministry to serve our congrega on while focusing on Wellness and Preventa ve health care measures. There has been posi ve movement with this ministry since its incep on. With the uncertainty surrounding certain health condi ons, it is a good me for the newly formed ministry to expand and recruit addi onal members to be er serve our congrega on. If you are an ac ve or re red health care professional, ie: MD, PA, Social Worker, APRN, RN, LPN, Therapist, Counselor, etc.. and have a passion to serve our congrega on to best meet their preventa ve health care needs which, in turn, helps the needs of the whole person, please email Cathy Silk, RN at [email protected] with your contact info. In your correspondence, please indicate your professional health care role. Please, also, include which days/ mes best suits your availability to hold the next Health Ministry mee ng. Stay Well!

PASTOR'S COLUMN
A er the flooding rains, God sent a rainbow as a sign to Noah and those on the ark. Of course, we all recall that story in the Old Testament when the colorful bow in the sky was given as a perpetual promise that there would never again be a worldwide flood to purge the earth of its many sinful people. Given all the sinfulness in the world today, we should take comfort in this promise from God (though there are other ways God could bring an end to this world). That is a topic for another pastor's column.
I brought up the story of Noah and the flood because that story came to my mind last Saturday as we concluded the 6:30 p.m. outdoor Mass. A er we set up a portable canopy to create cover for the table, ambo and radio equipment, the skies opened and we had flooding type rains for a good twenty minutes. Cars con nued to come as we did our best to keep items and people dry under the canopy and con nually pushed water out that was pooling on the top of the canvas canopy.
As we neared the start of Mass (about 6:27), the rain subsided rather quickly and for all but the very first part of Mass there was no rain falling. During the last part of the distribu on of Communion to people in their cars, the sun started to peak through the clouds, and as Mass ended, someone pointed toward the eastern sky where a beau ful and large rainbow had appeared amidst a light drizzle that lasted for a short me. I and others who were there truly believed that this was a sign from God for us that all our efforts to set up and offer Mass, and the people in the 65 cars that braved the elements were rewarded with a beau ful (and much cooler) Mass and a wonderful sense of God's presence in Word and Sacrament but also in one of his beau ful crea ons, the rainbow. LOOKING FOR THE JULY BIRTHDAY LIST AND/OR MONTHLY CALENDAR? The last weekend of each month, an insert in the weekly bulle n has normally contained a monthly calendar with a list of our parishioner’s birthdays on the reverse side. For many reasons, this has been discon nued; however, the monthly calendar may be found on the parish website along with the monthly birthday list. HSVSacredHeart.com This double sided document may also be found on either credenza in the narthex next to the supply of weekly bulle ns. Please contact the front office, 501-922-2062, ext. 10 with any ques ons you may have. Thank you!
PRAYER DURING CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC
O clement, O loving, O sweet Mother Mary, We, your children of every na on,
Turn to you in this pandemic. Our troubles are numerous; our fears are great. Grant that we might deposit them at your feet,
Take refuge in your Immaculate Heart, And obtain peace, healing, rescue, And mely help in all our needs.
You are our Mother. Pray for us to your Son. Amen
"The life of the body is the soul; the life of the soul is God.”
-St. Anthony of Padua
If you s ll are reluctant to join us for Mass in the church, (and I am pleased to say our numbers are increasing in our indoor Masses), please consider coming to our parking lot Mass. With technology allowing those who come to hear the Mass clearly on their radio, and if needed keeping your car air condi oner going (as long as your gas tank is not extremely close to empty) you can par cipate fully in the Mass and receive Holy Communion in your car, with arms held out of the window.
We try to make it easy in and easy out with your cars and a unique experience of Mass that you can talk about with your family and friends. I know that I will be talking about that parking lot Mass on June 20, 2020, and God's sign to us, for many years to come!!!

A FEAST DAY TO REMEMBER
The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus feast day was observed on Friday, June 19th. Kudos to Father Bill Elser, Ladies of the Sacred Heart (LOSH) and members of the Parish Life Commission. Not only did Father Bill celebrate 3 Masses that day, he also handcra ed 300 cups of delicious ice cream; flavors were Arkansas Strawberry and Cherries Jubilee. “Many hands make a light load,” as they say… Ladies of the Sacred Heart baked and decorated over 26 doz-en heart shaped cookies which complimented this heart filled gi . The ladies wrapped and served these delectable treats in a red gi bag to share with each of the a ending parishioners. Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church is truly, a sacred parish!
