Darsana Samooham
takes place in remembrance
of Mother Mary being taken
up to heaven by the holy
angels. In the home of our
Heavenly Father, the holy
church, those participating in
the darsana samooham assist
the priest, who is represent-
ing Jesus Christ, during important feasts. They join with
our blessed Mother and angels to assist in the Holy Mass
through prayers.
In the way that angels praise and worship God the Fa-
ther in heaven and are guarding heaven, members of the
darsana samooham are representing these angels as they
guard the earthly heaven which is the holy church. Here
they are praising and worshiping God the Son in order to
bring heavenly peace into the church on earth. Those rep-
resenting the countless angels that are present in the church
are the members of the darsana samooham.
There is no age requirement to become a member of
the darsana samooham. All men and women are welcome
to join. The official dress for men is Oppa and Morise
while the official dress for
women is uthariyam. It is the
responsibility of the darsana
samooham to actively take
part and make successful
church feasts, processions,
and other holy functions.
In order to participate, as a
member of the darsana
samooham, each person must approach the priest with their
official dress in their hands and receive a special blessing.
Only after this can they take part as a member. Their name
must also be registered in the darsana samooham members
book. If any member of the darsana samooham passes
away, the deceased person as well as all darsana samooham
members must wear their official dress for the funeral.
They must wear their dress in the church as well as the
cemetery as we prepare to bring this person into heaven,
representing the angels on earth.

cred Heart Knanaya Catholic Parish, Chicago to be held on
July 14, 2012 in Houston. (2/3).
The Youth Ministry of St. Mary's church is starting a
monthly Youth Night Vigil every third Friday for 1-2 hours
after the 6:00pm mass.
This is designed to be a wonderful experience for the
Youth and Teens, to enjoy 1-2 hours of being in God's
presence every month, with amazing music, adoration,
prayer and worship in English. We highly encourage and
welcome ALL the Youth & Teens (5th grade and up) of
both St. Mary's and Sacred Heart parishes to grab this op-
portunity, and to come and join your friends to enjoy the
experience together.
It will cleanse your mind and soul, fill your heart & life
with Holy Spirit and give the spiritual nourishment for
your studies & personal growth. It will also help to ener-
gize & revitalize your mind once a month, and will give a
perfection and balance in life.
You know, there are 24hrs a day x 30 days = 720 hours
in a month and can't we dedicate just 1 Hour entirely for
God? Can't we just turn off our cell phones, texting, face-
book & internet; all our distractions and give 100% to God
for just 1-2 hrs? For the one who provides us everything
and takes good care of us for the one who give us the
results for our efforts and keep us guiding in the right di-
rection... for the one who unconditionally loves us... 1-2
hrs out of 720 hrs Is that too much to ask from God's
part? And if you are not willing to even do that, what does
that tell about you as a person?
How would YOU feel if you were in place of God? You
loved, cared for and did everything for someone from the
moment he/she was born to until now... and if that person
doesnt show any gratitude or bother enough to thank you
with just 1 hour of their life a month?
Also, when you sinned against God: How would YOU
feel when your best friend for whom you did everything,
loved and cared for all these years, betrays you one day?
Wont you feel so disappointed, sad, angry? Wont there be
a breach of trust between you? And after that, if he asks
you to do something for him, would you just go ahead and
do it for him? The same happens when you sin against
God; you betray him and damaged the relationship.
So, before we can ask God for his blessings in life or
say prayers to give this and that, we have to sincerely re-
pent about our sins and reconcile with him. Then you will
receive his Holy Spirit and everything else will automati-
cally come along with it. The Holy Spirit will inspire your
hearts to do the right things and to make the right deci-
sions and success will automatically follow.
These monthly Youth Night Vigils give you the perfect
opportunity for all that. The service consists of Thanksgiv-
ing & Adoration/Worship, Repentance & Reconciliation
through Divine Mercy Chaplet, and Asking & Receiving
Blessings and Holy Spirit.
So lets free ourselves from all distractions on 3rd Fri-
day evenings and give 1-2 hours to God. Bring as many
friends as you can and encourage others to come (do this as
something you do for God, in return for all the blessing &
favors you received).
See you on Friday 18th May at St. Mary's...! by Coor-
dinators, Youth Ministry, St. Mary's Church

Q.91. But why did Jesus work miracles?
A.91. The miracles that Jesus worked were signs that
the kingdom of God was beginning. They expressed his
love for mankind and reaffirmed his mission.
Jesus miracles were not self-aggrandizing displays of
magic. He was filled with the power of Gods healing love.
Through his miracles he showed that he is the Messiah and
that the kingdom of God begins in him. Thus it became
possible to experience the dawn of the new world: he freed
people from hunger, injustice, sickness, and death. By
driving out demons, he began his victorious advance
against the ruler of this world principally to freeing man
from the slavery of sin. His central concern was faith,
which he also elicited through miracles. Nevertheless,
Jesus did not remove all misfortune and evil from the
world. He directed his attention
Q.92. Why did Jesus call apostles?
A.92. Jesus had a large circle of disciples around him,
both men and women. From this circle he selected
twelve men whom he called APOSTLES. The apos-
tles were specially trained by him and entrusted with
various commissions: He sent them out to preach the
kingdom of God and to heal. Jesus took only these
twelve apostles with him to the Last Supper, where he
gave them the command, Do this in remembrance of
me.
The apostles became witnesses of Jesus Resurrection and
guarantors of the truth about him. They continued Jesus
mission after his death. They chose successors for their
ministry: the bishops. To this day, the successors of the
apostles exercise the authority conferred by Jesus: They
govern and teach and celebrate the liturgy. The cohesive-
ness of the apostles became the foundation for the unity of
Youth Catechism of the Catholic ChurchYouth Catechism of the Catholic ChurchYouth Catechism of the Catholic Church
the CHURCH. Preeminent once again among the
Twelve was Peter, on whom Jesus bestowed special au-
thority: You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my
Church. From Peters special role among the apostles
developed the papal ministry.
Q.93. Why was Christ transfigured on the mountain?
A.93. The Father wanted to reveal the divine glory of
his Son even during Jesus earthly life. Christs Trans-
figuration was meant to help the disciples later to un-
derstand his death and Resurrection.
Three Gospels relate how Jesus, on the mountaintop, be-
gins to shine (is transfigured) before the eyes of his dis-
ciples. The voice of his heavenly father calls Jesus his
beloved Son, to whom they are supposed to listen. Peter
would like to make three booths and capture the mo-
ment. Jesus, however, is on the way that leads to suffering.
The vision of glory is only to strengthen his disciples.

SHARING BIRTHDAY GIFT WITH
THE LESS FORTUNATE When you celebrate your Happy Birthday,
Surrounded by family and friends,
When you blow the Birthday Candles,
Think of poor kids with the fire of hunger.
When you taste that yummy cake,
Think of those who never tasted a cake
When you get excited opening the gifts,
Think of kids who beg for food all day.
Think of kids who have nothing to wear.
Think of kids who have nowhere to sleep.
Think of kids who never got a hug or a kiss.
Agape Ministry of St. Marys Church is offering you an opportu-nity to sponsor the less fortunate children in India by sharing a birthday gift of $20 to $50 on your birthday. Bring your money during Holy Mass as your offering to God in thanksgiving for your life, health, and resources you enjoy. You will be recognized in the church at the end of the month.
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever
loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love
does not know God, because God is love. John 4:7-8
Agape is selfless, sacrificial, unconditional love,
the highest of the four types of love in the Bible.
