From the Diocese for the Viewing of the Installation Mass:

“We fully understand that there are a large number of people who want to take part in the Installation but may be hindered by travel distances, schedule conflicts, work, and the like. With that in mind, The Mass will be streaming live on our website (dwc.org) so all you would have to do is connect your computer or laptop to a TV (to accommodate larger audiences) and watch along with us.” Tim Bishop, Director of Marketing and Communications for the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston

Faith Formation 2019-2020

This year, Sacred Heart will celebrate Catechetical Sunday on September 8, 2019. The theme will be

“Stay With Us.” Those who the Church Community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth

to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role

that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel.

Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith.

RCIA ~ 2019/2020

Becoming Catholic – An RCIA Invitation! – Walking the path as a Catholic is a lifelong journey, full of all sorts of weather, road conditions, challenges and abundant Graces. Some of us were received into the Church at a young age, and some of us perhaps were baptized but never received Holy Communion. Perhaps you were never baptized, and you walk the path with a spouse who is devout, and you would like to learn more about being received into the Church. You may be a spiritual seeker and you are interested in learning more about Catholicism to see if it’s the path for you. These are all scenarios that can be explored through the process of RCIA – The Rite of Christian Initiation for

Adults. Our process begins in the fall with an inquiry session, date & time to be announced. RCIA is a process designed for adults who are coming to the Catholic faith from another faith tradition, have been baptized in the Catholic faith, but have not received any other Sacraments, or have not been baptized in any particular faith tradition. The RCIA process allows you to journey through the full liturgical year and the timeline can vary from person to person as to the readiness of reception of the Sacraments of Initiation ~ Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.

To learn more, please contact Claire Lampert at 304-921-2455,

Barbara Musolin at 276-326-1555, or the parish office at 304-327-5623.

BACK TO SCHOOL AT C.U.

Another school year at Concord University is fast approaching and we once again count our

blessings and give thanks for everyone who helped with campus ministry this past year.

Thank you to our priests, Fr. Sebastian, Fr. Greg and Fr. Bill. Thank you to the Knights of

Columbus and all the individuals and families who provided our students with a delicious

meal each Sunday after Mass.

The first Mass at Concord University Newman Center will be Sunday, August 25th at 6p.m.

We are now asking for parishioners or church groups to volunteer to provide a meal for

approximately 20 hungry students one Sunday during the school year. We would like for

you to provide a meal and join us for Mass, however, we can arrange to pick up your meal

on Sunday afternoon.

This ministry has been a wonderful blessing for our students and the church of Princeton-Bluefield can be proud of this outreach. There is a sign-up sheet at the church entrance or you can e-mail Deacon Don at [email protected]. Thanks for your help

Mission Speaker for our Sacred Heart Parishes for 2019

Weekend Masses of August 17th & 18th

COAR, which stands for the Community Oscar Arnulfo Romero, will be making an upcoming mission appeal

and asking for your donations, prayers, and interest the weekend of August 17th and 18th. Our Speaker will be

Ms. Susan Barnish.

COAR is located in Zaragoza, El Salvador. It was founded in 1980 by a Cleveland Diocese Mission Team priest

and fellow Cleveland Mission Team members began gathering orphans from refugee camps and bringing them

back to the Mission’s parish of Zaragoza.

More information is available at www.coarpeacemission.org, (440) 943-7615.

Donations are payable to our parish, placed into the 2nd collection, or, brought or mailed to the parish

later with “COAR” in the memo.

TRAVELING VOCATIONS CRUCIFIX

We have a Traveling Vocations Crucifix. This special crucifix inspires prayers for

vocations as it travels among parish families a week at a time. Beginning this

Saturday, August 17th we will pray during the remainder of August and throughout the

month of September for vocations. The Rosary prayed before our weekend Masses

will include an intention for an increase of Vocations in the United States and

especially in our Diocese. A parish family may volunteer to take the Crucifix to their

home for the week and pray in a special way for vocations. The traveling Crucifix can

be picked up in the Church office on Monday. There will be a signup sheet for the

family to fill out that can be found on the table in the back of the church. The Crucifix

must be returned to the weekend Mass they attend to be available for the next family.

Together with prayer, may we do our part to increase vocations! If you have any

questions, please call the church office at 304-327-5623.

New Faith Formation Seminar this Fall! Looking for a way to deepen your faith? The Department of Formation & Mission for the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston is offering a Faith Formation seminar, "Images of Jesus", which will meet for 5 consecutive Thursdays from 6:00pm-7:30pm, beginning on Thursday, September 12th, at Blessed Sacrament Parish in South Charleston. The seminar is an in-person adaptation of the online seminars that the diocese offers through its partnership with the University of Dayton. Through this course the participant will have the opportunity to examine, from a variety of theological perspectives, what we know and believe about the central figure of the Christian faith and arguably the most influential person who ever walked the earth. After looking at many different resources, the student will be able to form a personal answer to "Who do you say that I am?" Successful completion of this seminar earns you 2.5 CEU's with UD's Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation (VLCFF) and counts towards diocesan catechist certification requirements. The fee is $25. Scholarships are available if the cost presents an obstacle. The seminar will be facilitated by Gerri Wright, who holds a Masters in Pastoral Ministry from Duquesne University and is a certified Spiritual Director. For more information or to sign up for the course, contact Jeanne McKeets in the Department of Formation & Mission at [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> or 304-233-0880, ext. 374. Space is limited, so sign up today to reserve your spot. Registration will close on September 1st.

Nuestra Vida Cristiana
