I will understand the facilitation of the sacrament of reconciliation and how this sacrament of healing restores us to right relationship with God and each other.

1) It means that with the Grace of God, we can gain the strength to turn away from sin and turn back to God.

2) The first step in converting is to acknowledge and or admit that we have sinned or turned from the path that God wants us to take in order to live a full life.

1. Grave matter needs to be present which means that whatever grave sin we committed, it needs to be objectively grave e.g. adultery, murder, theft, jealousy, etc…

2. Full Knowledge needs to be present, meaning that you are fully aware of what you were doing when you committed this sin.

3. Full consent needs to be present, meaning you acted by your own will, freely.

Consists of being sorry for our sins, along with the plan to not sin again. – it comes from being truly sorry.

2 Types of Contrition Perfect contrition - repentance for sin that is motivated by faith and the love of God.Imperfect contrition – is a desire not to sin for a reason other than love of God (e.g. fear of hell).
