9/26/13 Supports digitally based research projects in all disciplines of the humanities and humanities-related social sciences. This year’s successful applicants may take up the fellowship in 2014-2015 or at any time up to September 1, 2015, with tenure completed by June 30, 2016. Fellowship tenure may be one continuous year, or two semesters taken over two years, but candidates must commit themselves firmly to their preferred timeframe on their completed applications.

9/26/13 These fellowships support long-term, unusually ambitious projects in the humanities and related social sciences. Burkhardt Fellowships are intended to support an academic year (normally nine months) of residence at any one of the national residential research centers participating in the program. Such an environment, beyond providing free time, encourages exchanges across disciplinary lines that can be especially helpful to deepening and expanding the significance of projects in the humanities and related social sciences. Candidates must also commit themselves to relocating as needed in order to be in residence for the tenure of the fellowship. 1/11/13 Provide psychologists with an invaluable public policy learning experience, to contribute to the more effective use of psychological knowledge in government and to broaden awareness about the value of psychology-government interaction among psychologists and within the federal government. Fellows spend one year working on the staff of a member of Congress or congressional committee. Activities may involve drafting legislation, conducting oversight work, assisting with congressional hearings and events, and preparing briefs and speeches. Fellows also attend a two week orientation program on congressional and executive branch operations, which includes guidance in the congressional placement process, and participate in a year-long seminar series on science and public policy issues. East-West Center POSCO Visiting Fellowship Program

12/31 The East-West Center proposes to invite four to six visiting fellows who will spend one or two months each carrying out policy-related research on issues regarding Northeast Asia that are of common concern -- such as globalization, economic regionalism, economic restructuring, political change, and the changing East Asian security environment, including the Korean Peninsula. The POSCO Fellowship Program is intended to generate constructive and informative research on four important issues: (1) issues concerning the two Koreas and Northeast Asia; (2) security issues for Korea and Northeast Asia; economic and social aspects of Korea-related issues; (4) political aspects of Korea-related issues. POSCO visiting fellows are in residence at the East-West Center and are provided with a stipend and round trip economy airfare to Honolulu. Institute for Advanced Study

Each year, the Institute for Advanced Study selects approximately 190 Members from an average of more than 1,500 applicants. Members are selected by the Faculty of each School, and come to the Institute for periods as short as one term or as long as several years. Young scholars and applicants from non-traditional backgrounds who have outstanding promise are considered, as are senior scholars whose reputations are already well established. The major consideration in the appointment process is the expectation that each Member‘s period of residence at the Institute will result in work of significance and originality. Fellowships 10/1/13 The National Humanities Center offers 40 residential fellowships for advanced study in the humanities during the academic year. The Newberry Library Long-Term Fellowships 12/1 Offers a variety of long-term fellowships (see link for list) to post-doctoral scholars for periods of six to eleven months. Applicants for post-doctoral awards must hold the Ph.D. at the time of application. These grants support individual research and promote serious intellectual exchange through active participation in the Library's scholarly activities, including a biweekly fellows' seminar. 10/31 Autrey Visiting Scholars will receive a stipend of up to $60,000, depending on the length of the fellowship, as well as funds for relocation and research. Starting in fall 2014, the HRC will grant short-term external faculty fellowships as well as semester-long residencies (two-weeks to 14-weeks). This will grant Rice faculty and students access to scholars who might not be able to come for an entire term and allow fellows to co-teach portions of existing courses. Residential Fellowship Program

10/3/13 The Center offers a residential postdoctoral fellowship program for scientists and scholars from this country and abroad. Fellowships are awarded to scholars working in a diverse range of disciplines. These include the five core social and behavioral disciplines of anthropology, economics, political science, psychology and sociology as well as scholars from a wide range of humanistic disciplines, education, linguistics and the biological sciences. Applicants with a Ph.D., professional degree (e.g., J.D., M.D.) or equivalent foreign degree are eligible to apply. Applicants who have achieved an equivalent level of professional reputation will also be considered. Faculty at all academic levels or independent scholars may apply, provided they exhibit a high level of achievement (adjusted for rank) including a strong record of research publications. Applications are encouraged from junior scholars at least 3 to 4 years past the doctorate, typically for a fellowship year soon after achieving tenure.

The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute

Fellowships 10/15 One of a small number of institutions in the United States that combines a public art museum with a complex of research and academic programs, including a major art history library. The Clark functions as an international center in both the academic and museum fields for research and discussion on the nature of art and its history.

Truman Library Institute Research Grants Program Varies by award

Research Grants: Grants of up to $2,500 are awarded biannually and are intended to enable graduate students, post-doctoral scholars and other researchers to come to the Harry S. Truman Library for one to three weeks to use its collections. Awards are to offset expenses incurred for this purpose only. Scholars Award: Grants of up to $30,000 are made to post-doctoral scholars engaged in work on some aspect of the life and career of Harry S. Truman or of the public and foreign policy issues which were prominent during the Truman years. The award is intended to free a scholar from teaching or other employment for a substantial period of time and allow the scholar to make significant progress on or complete the writing of a major book.

Collections that are administered by the newly integrated UCLA Library Special Collections and available for Thayer Fellowship-supported research include materials in the humanities and social sciences; medicine; life and physical sciences; visual and performing arts; and UCLA history.

The potential for rewarding research at the Clements—on military history, gender and ethnicity, religion, the American Revolution, culinary history, Native Americans, politics and government, slavery and antislavery, the Civil War, travel and exploration—is remarkably strong. Fellowships for periods of one to four months’ residence provide senior scholars with support for extended visits to the Library in pursuit of research on significant projects.

10/15 Five one-year Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships are available for the 2014-2015 academic year for untenured scholars in the humanities who received or will receive their Ph.D. between December 2005 and December 2013. Vanderbilt University Robert Penn Warren Center for The Humanities - William S. Vaughn Visiting Fellowship

1/15 The 2014-2015 Fellowship Program is entitled "Public Scholarship in the Humanities." The Warren Center will host a year-long interdisciplinary faculty seminar to explore questions related to publicly engaged scholarship and to examine what may gained and what may be lost for scholars and scholarship when we are asked to make our work more accessible to a broad general audience. We invite applications from scholars in all disciplines whose lively presences will help to focus our work and stimulate discussions. We anticipate that the successful applicant will have completed the terminal degree in her/his field at the time of application and will have a record of scholarly publications as well as strong evidence of publicly engaged scholarship. The seminar meets weekly and will allow the Visiting Fellow ample time to pursue a major research project. The combined interests of the visiting fellow and the Vanderbilt faculty fellows will determine the form and content of seminar discussions.

The Wolfsonian–Fiu Fellowship Program

12/31 The Wolfsonian–FIU Fellowship program promotes scholarly research on The Wolfsonian’s collections. Since its inception in 1995, the program has supported projects from a wide range of academic fields. Fellowships are awarded for full-time research at The Wolfsonian, generally for periods of three to four weeks. Fellowships include a stipend, accommodations, and round-trip travel. The timing of dates will be negotiated with individual awardees. The program is open to holders of master’s or doctoral degrees, Ph.D. candidates, and to others who have a significant record of professional achievement in relevant fields. Scholars from outside of the United States are eligible.

Yale University Agrarian Studies Program Fellowships

1/3 The Agrarian Studies Program appoints fellows annually who are in residence for the year, present a paper, and attend the colloquia. This year the Program has four Fellows whose diversity reflects the breadth of the program, and a Research Affiliate who has already made an important contribution to agrarian studies. Applications are encouraged from knowledgeable "activists" and "public intellectuals" whose work on rural life transcends the academy. The broad theme for the colloquium series of the Program in Agrarian Studies, will be "Hinterlands, Frontiers, Cities, and States: Transactions and Identities.‖ Younger scholars as well as established scholars are encouraged to apply. Fellows are expected to be in residence in New Haven to take an active part in the intellectual exchange with other members of the Program.

Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies

Fellows Program Rolling Center Fellows typically spend one semester at the Young Center pursuing research related to the faith, history, and culture of Anabaptist and/or Pietist movements. The Center provides office space, various support services, access to library holdings, and a modest stipend toward housing and travel expenses. Fellows typically teach a seminar, present a public lecture, or organize an interpretive event during the period of residency. Fellows are responsible for their own salary support from sabbatical, research grant, or other sources.
