Everyone did a fantastic job for the SAA His-tory Day on February 12th! The judges were genuinely impressed with the efforts students put into their projects. National History day is a competition where 6th - 12th grade students get to present historic events in their own way. Our 9th grade students did so well that some of them will be advancing up to WSU competi-tions.

Monthly Principal’s Message March 2020

March is a special month for me personally. I was born in March. Additionally, spring arrives to usher in longer

days, sunshine, and the new growth of nature’s beauties. For many, winter brings SAD (Seasonal Affective Disor-der) which can cause sadness and depression from short

dark days and long cold spells. I have been one who struggles with this each winter.

I have learned some coping strategies throughout my life to help me get through these dark times. When I can, I open the blinds in my home and office to allow light in. I plan times during the daylight hours to go outside and breathe fresh air, see the sunshine and get some light into my body. I look forward to spring by planning my

garden planting and summer trips with the family. I think about warm summer days in the back yard with my grandkids. I push out the darkness with positive

thoughts and future exciting times. These strategies certainly help but do not totally eliminate SAD all to-

gether. Good friends, time with a spouse, fun activities and positive self-talk have been so helpful to me.

Let’s have a great spring and I hope bright days are ahead for all of you great SAA families.

Blue light is scattered in all directions by the tiny molecules of air in Earth's atmosphere. Blue is scattered more than other colors because it travels as shorter, smaller waves. This is why we see a blue sky most of the time. Closer to the horizon, the sky fades to a lighter blue or white.
