SA-SAMS: Updates included in Version 17.2.0

The South African School Administration and Management System (SA-SAMS), designed for the South

African Education Sector is policy based to standardise implementation across all provinces. It is updated

quarterly with the latest requirements to assist schools with administration and reporting. The changes for

version 17.2.0 are listed in the table below.

3. Curriculum

• Circular S4 instructs that in Gr 10 -12 the Oral marks must not be included in the SBA calculation. This is to avoid the double usage of the mark for SBA and exam calculations.

4. Reasons for changing of results at end of the year

• Circular 3 of 2015 and 3 of 2016 informed schools on conditions that should be considered when altering the promotion decisions in order for the learners to move to the next grade.

• The changed decision is flagged as “PG” so that the learner’s progress can be followed in the following year.

• The options for changing the promotion decision are:

5. New Descriptors for Special Needs Education (SNE)
