1. Overview
S4S is the abbreviated name for FuseIT’s Sitecore to Salesforce connector. S4S enables data in Sitecore to be pushed to Salesforce in real time. A useful example of this is using a Sitecore form, or Web Form for Marketers Form, to create or update a Salesforce object like a lead, contact or opportunity record.
The connector can also pull Salesforce data back into Sitecore. An example of this is retrieving a username and password from a Salesforce contact record and comparing it to the login credentials just entered by Sitecore website visitor.
The S4S ECM module is a purchased option that extends S4S to work with Sitecore’s Email Campaign Manager. The S4S ECM integration allows emails to be sent to the individual members of a Salesforce campaign via the Sitecore Email Campaign Manager (ECM). S4S ECM also synchronises the email recipient behavior (stored in the Sitecore DMS analytics database) back to the Salesforce campaign member record, for use in reporting and campaign tracking/detail.
This document describes how the S4S ECM integration can be used from either a Salesforce centric or Sitecore centric perspective. A composite approach is also possible.

2. S4S ECM Flow (Salesforce Centric)
The Salesforce centric approach allows Salesforce users to send email campaigns to Salesforce campaign members (contacts and leads) using Sitecore ECM without the need to use Sitecore.
1. Create New Salesforce Campaign.
Figure 1 – New Campaign
2. Click the Send To Sitecore Button
Figure 2 – Send to Sitecore Button
3. The “Use Sitecore Target Audience” checkbox can be used to replace an existing
Sitecore target audience (also called recipient list) with the members of the
current Salesforce campaign. Sitecore Target Audiences must be marked as
rendered in Sitecore for them to appear in this list. The email template used will
be the Sitecore template associated with the Target Audience.

4. Add/exclude campaign members using the Send To Si tecore Wizard (can be
added from reports or campaigns).
5. Emails can be sent using standard or custom Salesforce email templates or any
existing Sitecore templates. The following figure shows a standard Salesforce
template being selected.

6. In the dropdown list choose a send time option and send the campaign to
Sitecore.

7. Wait for the emails to be sent and received.
8. When the email is opened by a recipient Sitecore analytics is notified by way of a
small image that the email requests from the Sitecore web server.
9. When a link in the email is clicked Sitecore will assign the recipient a visitor
(user) cookie and a visit (session) cookie.

Figure 7 – Clicking a Link to the Website
10. Clicking an email link, the recipient opens the Sitecore website and begins to
navigate the pages. Sitecore DMS will track their engagement state based on
their goals and scores on the website (gathered this information in their visit
cookie).

11. The analytics for the campaign can be retrieved in Salesforce by clicking the Get
Analytics button. Alternatively analytics can be scheduled to roll up at a
configurable interval determined by a setting in the Sitecore web.config file.

Figure 9 – Get Analytics Button
12. After waiting some time (this time is dependent on number of campaign members
and amount of analytics data in the Sitecore databases) the campaign member
record for the relevant recipient can be viewed in Salesforce . The member will
be populated with the analytics data for that visit.

13. If the user opts out of this campaign the status will be displayed. If the email
bounces a standard Salesforce bounce alert will be set on the lead or contact
record in Salesforce.
14. The page history for the visit can be retrieved by clicking the View Page History
button. Note that this will display the page history for the most recently visite d
pages from that campaign member.

3. S4S ECM Flow (Sitecore Centric)
Another way to use the S4S ECM integration is to drive the campaigns from Sitecore. There are several variations on how this can be achieved but the simplest is to expose a Salesforce campaign in Sitecore as an Opt-in role. The following is an overview of how to achieve this.
1. In Salesforce, marking a campaign with exiting members as Visible to Sitecore
will make it available for use in Sitecore (this is done automatically when sending
via the Send to Sitecore Wizard).
Figure 13 – Visible to Sitecore
This will expose the Salesforce campaign as a role in Sitecore with the campaign members appearing as users in the role.

2. Create a target audience and configure the emails to be sent in Sitecore as you
would a native Sitecore Campaign.

3. Change the Opt-In role to the Sitecore campaign you have exposed above.

4. To send the emails dispatch the target audience to send. Standard features like
reporting and Split A/B testing will work as built in Sitecore. To view the Sitecore
analytics in Salesforce follow the steps detailed in Section 1.
