This tourney got off to a start Thurs. nite at a players meeting at the Sheraton, one subJect Ed Headrick discussed is a new proposal for the PDGA format. A newsletter is in the works to update PDGA members. Ted Smethers t~u~ coordinator spoke of his plans for next years UOGC, cont~ct your local pro or Tom Monroe for info , and start earning those points for next yearl Tee assignments were made, and Fri, morning the men converged upon 3 18 hole courses in a rotatio schedule for the first three rounds of play. Fri . morning the women held a players meeting to share ideas concerning the growth of womens divisions in disc golf. There were 21 women players in this tournament, a very good turn-out-something to be proud ofl There were 150 total players in three days of exciting tournament play. After 2 rounds Fri., and 1 round Sat. morning, the top 72 men gathered at Redstone Arsenal where tournament director Tom Monroe shot an amazing roun of 16 under, with an ace on hole -"2. His score of 38 put him in the lead until the completion of the 5th round, in which the top 36 players competed in this semi-final round at Brahan ~prings falling bark park, on ~unday morning. Jeff Watson moved into 1st, and stayed there where he finis Sunday afternoon the top four men played on the UAH Championship course, 'eff Watson, Tom Monroe, Lew Satterfield, and Tom Krajna played a crowd-pleasing round, with spectators & camera crews watching their every move. The results were braadcast nationally on CNN, E~PN, SNN, & NBC. Local stations provided excellant coverage. The womens division was just as hot, with the lead changing hands several times, and only 1 strok difference between the leaders m~de some very exciting moments. Nite time activities included a fly market Fri. nite with some hot & heavy trading play. S•t. nite there was a dinner party at Alabama's Space & Rocket museum, with the museum all to themselves. Outside players were seen enjoying the Zero Gravity were seen staggering from the Lunar Odyssey where they experienced the G-forces of

World Disc Golf S ite Announced- Ted Smethers' little old Grandma reached up into the hat and pulled Jim Palmeri's name. The tourney is slated for July 27 / 28/29 in kochester N.Y. Jim has been hosting the American Fly­ing Oisc Cper. for about IO years now. That is the oldest golf tourney.

Since the separation of the P.D.G.A. and the D.G.A. attempts- are being made to raise operating capital. Along with the Sl.OO surcharge per play­er per tournament, a Finicial V.P. has bee~ appointed from the steer-in2 committee. As the new V.P., Lavone Wolfe has been in touch with the ~olf disc mf~.s and has requested finiancial support in exchange for the P.D.G.A. stamp of approval. ~o far the big hurd~e has been the diameter rule and the wei~ht rule.~ince the diameter rule never wa s a n issue, it has been ommitted from the rulebook.
