You already received information about the objectives, contents and dates of the programme and now wish to submit an application. Please read these documents carefully. They provide all relevant information you need to complete a successful application.

I General information

The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Agriculture and Viniculture Rhineland-Palatinate (below: the Ministry) supports international co-operation and economic trade to tackle the challenges of globalization, to support networks abroad, to enable knowledge exchange in order to foster sustainable growth and a deeper economic integration.

The Management Programme is in line with the overall programme of the Ministry “Gemeinsam auf Auslandsmärkte”, its foreign trade and international co-operation programme.

Inviting professionals to this Management Programme will facilitate a number of mutual assets:

knowledge transfer about state of the art managing tools and working knowledge via the three week group seminar and the seven week individual experience exchange

networks and mutual understanding about working and living cultures in Rhineland-Palatinate and the home country of the participants

Business opportunities for future collaboration and trade between companies in Rhineland-Palatinate and the home countries of the participants

Establishment of contacts for economic co-operation Acquisition of international and intercultural management skills

The Ministry entrusted MOSAIC and icunet with the conduction of the programme, being responsible for the selection of the participants, the execution of the training as well as all financial and logistical matters.

MOSAIC is an international consultancy specialised inter alia in international network building within management of multi stakeholder processes in the interface of private economy and public sector.

icunet is an international consultancy with a worldwide network providing a wide range of services around the internationalisation of business and projects. The services range from advanced trainings and seminars of the ICU®-Academy, events, community building, networking, business trips, surveys, intercultural qualification, personnel assessment, relocation and immigration services.

You are a very important stakeholder within the Management Programme and we wish to support you and your company’s undertakings through the participation of your employee. You will need to grant a special leave of absence to your employee for the duration of the advanced training enabling him/her to increase his/her management skills, build up solid networks with the economy in Rhineland-Palatinate, identify business opportunities for your company and become a professional in an international co-operation especially with the focus on Rhineland-Palatinate.

Your support of the programme as such and specifically of your employee is crucial for the success of this undertaking. Therefore, information and support provided by your company are also part of the application and will be taken into account in the selection process.

Please find the form to be filled in by you in Part 2 of the application document.

Please portray your company’s current situation regarding collaboration and trade with Rhineland-Palatinate and Germany, the business opportunities you see in co-operating with Rhineland-Palatinate and indicate how in your view your company’s efforts could be promoted through the Management Programme (Appendix to Part 2).

The precise professional statement of yourself and the applicant will be decisive for his/her inclusion in this programme.

Dear applicant

You are planning to take on an active role in this process. We would like to make sure that you are aware of the implications of this important decision.

This programme is a contribution to your personal skills and network building. At the same time your participation should benefit your employer or company as well as the participating companies and institutions in Rhineland-Palatinate. Your personal training preferences can only be considered within this framework. Our advanced training measures primarily aim to enhance your qualifications as a professional and as a manager within your company, organisation or institution, where you have a specific function or have been entrusted with a certain area of responsibility.

Upon completing the Management Programme, you will be awarded a certificate by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Agriculture and Viniculture Rhineland-Palatinate, MOSAIC and icunet.

We require precise information about your workplace and tasks if the Management Programme is to be successful for you and your company/organisation/institution.

This programme is open to both male and female professionals.

Please find the form to be filled in by you in Part 1 of the application document.

II Conditions for Participation

1. Qualification

The applicant must meet the professional, personal and linguistic requirements of the Management Programme. The desired applicants are:

Professionals:o in companieso in institutionso as entrepreneurs

At least three years of experience in middle management Very good German and/or English language skills High motivation and potential Interest in innovative technologies and processes

2. Selection of the candidates

The professional, personal and linguistic aptitude will be assessed in a selection process. This process will be conducted in five steps:

1. A short-list of applicants will be selected based on the written applications that are submitted.

2. The short-listed applicants will be invited to fill in the online Test of Intercultural Sensitivity (TIS®).

3. Based on the written application and the TIS®, eligible candidates will be invited to a telephone interview with our experts.

4. MOSAIC and icunet will finally decide on the admission to the Management Programme and the awarding of the scholarship based on the results of the written application, the TIS ® and the interview.

5. Applicants and their employers will be informed of the decision by MOSAIC and icunet.

The scholarship contract will take effect as soon as the applicants have signed the admission and the Conditions for Participation and MOSAIC/icunet has received these documents.

3. Language proficiency

German language proficiency is recommended so that the participants can benefit from their stay in Rhineland-Palatinate as much as possible. Good proficiency in German enables extensive contact with Germans and insight into another culture in both a professional context – particularly during the individual experience exchange in companies and institutions in Rhineland-Palatinate – and in the everyday social context.

Applicants lacking adequate language competence in German are strongly invited to participate in a preparatory German course in their home country. Costs for this language course are not covered by the scholarship.

Depending on the language skills of the applicants and the final selection, MOSAIC and icunet will decide if the programme language will be German or, as an exception, English.

4. Scholarship services

4.1 Services during the preparatory phase

MOSAIC and icunet offer, if necessary, support during the visa-application process.

4.2 Services during the training phase in Germany

The programme will cover the following costs during the training phase in Rhineland-Palatinate:

- for the advanced training, - for travel associated with the advanced training1

- for accommodation2 - for the scholarship as a contribution to living expenses- for insurance (see 4.3)

4.3 Insurance

Throughout their stay in Rhineland-Palatinate, participants are insured against acute illness, accident and personal liability; claims held against third parties shall be ceded.

4.4 Premature termination of the advanced training

The Management Programme is financed by public funds of the German Federal Land of Rhineland-Palatinate. MOSAIC and icunet have the right to terminate the Management Programme for important reasons:

a. failure to achieve the programme goalsb. due to ill health of the participantc. violation of laws of the Federal Republic of Germany

4.5 Claim for return of scholarship

If participants prematurely end the Management Programme for personal reasons, MOSAIC and icunet may claim the return of the scholarship.

The scholarship is granted as a lump sum of 1.700 Euro for the whole period of the Management Programme. The financial benefits provided by the Government secure the scholarship holders a reasonable maintenance. They are not, however, sufficient to support other persons. For this reason, dependents may not be brought to Germany. The maintenance of families in the home country must be secured by other means for the period of the advanced training.

5. Contribution of the employer or sending institutions

5.1 International travel expenses are expected to be met by the employers in the partner countries or sending institutions as a contribution towards the Management Programme.

5.2 As a contribution towards the Management Programme, the employer will grant leave for the duration of the programme and may ensure that the employee will be able to meet his financial obligations (family, rent, etc.) in his home country, e.g. continuing paying the salary.

5.3 The employer or sending institution will support upon return of his employee the establishment of sustainable business-contacts and help to develop collaborative ideas with companies and institutions in Rhineland-Palatinate.

6. The participants’ duties

Participants in the Management Programme shall make the most of the opportunities the programme has to offer. They shall contribute to a good working atmosphere within the course group, as well as towards MOSAIC and icunet and their partners.

6.1 Obligation of active participation

The Management Programme course is divided into two phases:

- the three week group seminar- the seven week individual experience exchange

Participants in the Management Programme are obliged to actively participate in all modules and events of the whole course. The information in the course description shall apply.

Detailed contents and the exact procedure of the training will be communicated in due time.

During the training in Rhineland-Palatinate, the following standard national procedures apply: if the participants are absent for more than three calendar days, they must present a medical certificate no later than the third day.

Temporary interruption of the Management Programme for personal reasons must be requested in advance and then approved by MOSAIC and icunet.

Participants are not legally entitled to holidays during the Management Programme.

6.2 Financial obligations

Participants shall not accept other scholarships for the duration of the Management Programme, nor shall they enter any form of employment, part time or full time. Throughout the group seminar and the individual experience exchange, the candidates should be at their host company’s service and should be dedicated to the Management Programme. If the programme is prematurely terminated by participants for personal reasons, or if they do not return home after completion of the advanced training, the scholarship may be claimed back.

Prior to their departure, participants are required to settle all outstanding financial obligations.

6.3 Physical aptitude

The applicant affirms that he/she has the physical aptitude to successfully complete the Management Programme.

If an applicant suffers from severe illness or is unfit to attend the Management Programme for other reasons, he/she is obliged to immediately return to their country of origin.

6.4 Obligation to return home

Participants commit themselves to return to their country of origin immediately upon completion or termination of the Management Programme.

6.5 Privacy policy

Participants give their consent that their individual data may be stored, evaluated and forwarded to third parties insofar as this is necessary for the Management Programme and the follow-up programme.

For the duration of the Management Programme, participants authorize MOSAIC and icunet to contact third parties (e.g. training institutions, authorities, schools, companies) for pertinent information.

In case of health problems that might affect the successful completion of the Management Programme, they release doctors and hospitals from their duty to maintain confidentiality.

6.6 Evaluation

The participants shall make constructive contributions to the regular evaluations of the Management Programme.

MOSAIC and icunet will decide on the applications for the programme. The decision will be communicated to the applicant and the employer.

In the case of a positive decision, you will receive a letter of invitation for the requested training. The invitation will encompass a programme schedule and conditions for participation. The scholarship contract will only take effect after we have received the signed acceptance of the conditions for the planned programme.

Naturally, you will also be informed if we are unable to include you in the programme.
