Bible Reading

Week 22 May 30 – June 5

This week’s readings offer a beautiful variety of God’s character. He is our helper, our stronghold, our Messiah, our Redeemer and our most powerful advocate. He is our refuge and our strength…we will not fear! Such is the declaration of those who love HIM.

“Jehovah is our strength , and he shall be our song;We shall o’ercome at length although our foes be strong. In vain does Satan then oppose, for God is stronger than His foes.”

Week 23 June 6 – 12

The prophet Jeremiah writes about justice, purity of heart, God’s design for His children and that He desperately wants us to seek Him with all our heart. God’s plan for us is perfect. He takes the brokenness, gently forming the pieces of our lives and the result is a beautiful creation useful to the Master. God promises to do this for each of us, when we week Him with a pure heart.

“Change my heart, O God, make it ever true;Change my heart, O God, may I be like You.You are the potter, I am the clay;Mold me and make me, this is what I pray,”

Week 24 June 13 – 19

Taking responsibility for our actions is one of those topics that is difficult to discuss. Our society has made it easy to play the blame game. We make excuses for our behavior, when it fact we should just own it and allow God to make things right through our obedience. The prophet Ezekiel encourages us to watch ourselves, our actions, our reactions, and our relationships. The message is to take responsibility for yourself and allow God to work through you to bring peace and restoration.

“Pass me not, O mighty Spirit, Thou canst make the blind to see;Witnesser of Jesus’ merit, speak the word of power to me,Even me, even me, speak the word of power to me.”

Week 25 June 20 – 26

We, most likely, have learned much of Daniel’s story in Sunday School: the fiery furnace, the lion’s den, Daniel’s prayer and his dreams. These are not just Sunday School stories. These are the accounts of a young man who stood firm in his faith and commitment to God, no matter what. Daniel had strength of character even in the most dangerous situations. I wonder if the same could be said of us?

“Dare to be a Daniel, dare to stand alone.Dare to have a purpose firm, and dare to make it known.”

Week 26 June 27 – July 3

In the middle of our readings, this week, we have the beautiful Queen Esther. Although God is never mentioned, He is the hero of this story. Esther is about God’s sovereignty and His commitment to His purposes. When all seems to be lost, God wins the day and preserves His people.

“Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,There is no shadow of turning with Thee;Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not,As Thou has been Thou forever will be.Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!Morning by morning new mercies I see.All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!”
