Maxwell Library Discover Service Access from Off Campus

1. Log in to My Ohio Christian University (http://my.ohiochristian.edu ) with your OCU email account User Name and Password.

2. Under Office and Departments Click on the Maxwell Library link

3. Maxwell Library resources will display. Click on the OCU Discovery Searches link

4. The Discovery Service search bar will display.

5. Enter a search term Click the Search button

o The below example is “ezra the scribe” as a keyword search.o Keyword is the default. Select Title or Author as appropriate.

6. The Results Page displays with the Hello Guest greeting. Click the Login for Full Access link.

7. The OhioLINK Institution Selection Form displays

Select Ohio Christian University from the drop-down list oThe Branch Location defaults to All Campuses

Click the Submit button.

8. The OhioLINK Authentication Form displays. Enter your name and library barcode. (Last name only works best and the barcode is 14 digits long, beginning with 20531 or 50531.)

9. The following message will display briefly.

10.The Results Page displays the same 29,129 items, and access to full text content is now provided.

11. To display fewer results: Select limiters from the Limit To section

o This example reduced the results from 29,129 to 5,644 items by limiting to : Full Text Scholarly (Peer Reviewed Journals) Publication Date range of 2003 – 2013

You can also limit by Source Type, Language, Publisher, etc.

12. Many searchers prefer to limit their searches to subject-specific databases. To see the databases the above results are drawn from:

Click the Content Provider limiter.

13. Results can be limited to those of a single Content Provider: Click the associated check box, e.g. Religion and Philosophy Collection.

14. The 564 results from that single database display.
