SUMMER HAPPENINGS at the

HOUSE of PROVIDENCE

In thc closing days of the m onth of .Tune th resioenh of the House of Pr(l\;dence, th . aged lllen and w omen car ed for ·within- its hallowed wa lls, had the rare privilege, the first of its kind, of attending a marvellous mission in the Church of Our Mother of orro~;\'s.

Reverend A. Kelly, C.Ss.R., Saint :\Iary' Collc~e,Brockville, preacher of the mission, ga,re himself entirely to the soul s' welfare of these aged folks. Three sermons a day, closing with recitation of the Rosary and Bened iction of the BI es~ed Sacrament in the evening, was the order followed, and it was a touching spectacle t o see these good people, feeble, blind and lame totter in t o the exercises, eager to re~pond to the exhortations of the zealou missioner. It recalled the days of Chri ~t, the Saviour of men, when the afflicted and sore-distressed followed the Master, anxious to hear His words and receive solace for their cares.

T his l1wn-ellous ad vantage fot' the soul f the 'C folk 0 near thei r eternal home, is t o become an annual indulgence fo r those who are for tunate en ough to be sheltered within the Huus of l'o\'id nee.
