26TH JANUARY 2020 THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME PSALTER WEEK III

SILENT GROTTO PILGRIMAGE – JANUARY 2020“Here, Heaven Touches The Earth”On Monday 13th January, a group of pilgrims travelled from our parish to the village of Lourdes in France, to the sanctuary of Our Lady who appeared in a grotto to a young girl, Bernadette. On 11th February 1858, the first apparition of a “beautiful lady” was seen by Bernadette Soubirous, a young girl of 14 years. There were a total of 18 apparitions until 16th July 1858. As they say, the rest of the story is history.

Lourdes in January is empty – hotels, shops and bars are closed. Lourdes is silent – this is the best time to go and pray – and so we did! We prayed every day for everyone here in the parish and in the school. We said prayers together and prayers in silence. On the Wednesday morning it was our joy to have Mass at the Grotto – just us and three or four other pilgrims. That evening after dark, we lit a candle for all your intentions. Thank you to my fellow pilgrims for taking up the invitation of Mary! And many thanks to Mo and his team at St Peter’s Pilgrimages.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.

POSADA DIARY – ADVENT 2019You can now read the Posada Diary from last Advent. It’s a great read – even Peppa Pig appears! Once more, many thanks to all those who hosted the crib in December. Do take time to read the diary!

CAN YOU HELP?The Parish is in need of more volunteer counters to count the money donated in the offertory collection. It is a very quick job and takes just 10-15 minutes after 11.15 Mass on Sunday. With a reasonable number of volunteers, you’ll only be asked to help every few weeks. If you are able to help, please email Pauline in the Parish office on [email protected].
