Our 85+ student organizations provide daily opportunities for student engagement and
leadership. Our students make a difference on our campus and in the community each year by
hosting timely symposia, advocating for student interests, and serving the wider D.C.
community. All students can participate in any student organization at Georgetown Law.
Want to host an environmental justice symposium? How about starring in a musical alongside
your fellow students and faculty? Do you want to advocate for the immigrant community in

possible tax practitioners they can be. One of the methods through which we intend to do

Nationally, Students for Justice in Palestine's work is centered on freedom, justice, and equality
for the Palestinian people, particularly as it pertains to Israeli occupation. SJP Nationals believes
that all struggles for freedom, justice, and equality are interconnected and that we must embody
the principles and ideals we envision for a just society.
There are more than 200 chapters at undergraduate and graduate campuses around the country,
and Georgetown Law had an active chapter until a few years ago. In an effort to revive
Georgetown Law's chapter, we have been engaging in informal conversations with students and
active student organizations and have identified a clear need for a Students for Justice in
Palestine group to be brought back to our campus. Our peers are interested in learning more
about the Israeli occupation and what the current conflict means for Palestinians, Israelis, and all
people invested or interested in facilitating conflict resolution, and liberation and justice for all.
A Georgetown Law SJP chapter would align well with Georgetown Law's commitment to
international human rights, equal justice, and diverse viewpoints.

homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in the District. Since its founding in 1987, Home
Court has become one of Georgetown Law’s most meaningful traditions and provided essential monetary support for the Clinic’s mission.
What students involved with Home Court Do: Home Court is planned and run entirely by
students. There are 5 core committees that students can be involved with: Congressional
Outreach, Marketing, Business, Special Events, and Game Day. These committees are each in
charge of integral tasks to make the game as successful as possible. Tasks include reaching out to
Congress members to build a team, creating posters for events, gathering donations for the
game’s silent auction, hosting a fall volleyball tournament, and planning half time events. Students on the Home Court team can be as involved as they desire, with tasks for students who
have a few hours to spare or a few weeks depending on the student’s availability.

If/When/How is a national nonprofit that trains, networks, and mobilizes law students and legal
professionals to work within and beyond the legal system to champion reproductive justice. We

have the right to decide if/when/how to create families depends entirely on if, when, and how
hard we fight.

International Migrants Bill of Rights Initiative (IMBR)
The International Migrant Bill of Rights Initiative was founded at Georgetown University
Law Center over ten years ago in 2008 to contribute to a comprehensive, coherent articulation of
the legal framework that protects the rights of all international migrants, regardless of the
impetus of their migration. Since its founding, the IMBR Initiative has been the base for a
growing global network that contributes to important, ongoing debates about the way the world
views and treats people who cross borders. The Initiative sought to be accessible yet

substantiated by extensive legal research, supported in large part by Georgetown Law students.
The initiative’s vision is a world in which the human rights of all international migrants are protected, and focused on a three-pillared approach that centered research, education and
advocacy.
In the last decade since the founding of the IMBR Initiative, the text of the Bill of Rights
and other tools have been drafted in consultation with migrants and other civil society actors;
policymakers at the national, regional and international levels; and students and scholars of
migration. The early work of the Initiative was managed as a collaboration between the
American University in Cairo, the Global Law Scholars program at GULC, the Migration
Studies Unit at the London School of Economics and the Minerva Institute at Hebrew
University.
Building on this robust history, the Georgetown IMBR Chapter has coordinated efforts between

International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP)
The International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) is committed to providing
quality legal advocacy to refugees and displaced persons and offering Georgetown
Law students meaningful opportunities to gain experience in direct services and
policy. We are part of IRAP National, a non-profit legal aid and impact litigation
organization based in New York City. IRAP also has field offices in Amman, Jordan,
and Beirut, Lebanon.
IRAP created a “virtual public interest law firm” comprised of over 1200 law students from 29 law schools in the United States and Canada working under the
supervision of pro bono attorneys from over 120 international law firms. IRAP
students and attorneys work together to assist thousands of refugees and displaced
persons with urgent registration, protection, and resettlement cases.
Students working on IRAP case teams gain experience directing their own cases
with their small student teams and pro-bono attorneys, and can expect to engage in
firsthand in such tasks as drafting and filing refugee applications with UNHCR,
priority applications with USRAP (the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program), asylum
applications to European countries and Australia, and SIV (Special Immigrant Visa)
applications for Iraqis and Afghans who have assisted U.S. forces.
IRAP also offers a number of other ways to engage in refugee law and policy. IRAP
National hosts an annual Policy Day and offers student trips to the IRAP field offices
in Jordan and Lebanon and send students to the annual student summit in NYC, an

The Federalist Society (Fed Soc)
The Georgetown Law Federalist Society is a group of law students that are interested in the
current state of the legal order. We are founded on the three principles that:
● The state exists to preserve freedom; ● The separation of powers is central to our Constitution; and ● It is emphatically the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it
should be.
We seek to promote awareness of these principles in the Law Center community and beyond,
while creating a learning atmosphere that is open to all viewpoints. Each semester, we organize a
wide range of activities—from panels and debates by noted legal scholars, practitioners, judges,
and political figures to social and networking events that give our members opportunities for
career development.
