We are dedicated to helping our fellow LL.M. students develop the necessary skill set to work the job market and to become the best

possible tax practitioners they can be. One of the methods through which we intend to do

this is by organizing breakfast and cocktail gatherings on the premises of law and

    networking.

Georgetown Law Students for Justice in Palestine

Nationally, Students for Justice in Palestine's work is centered on freedom, justice, and equality

for the Palestinian people, particularly as it pertains to Israeli occupation. SJP Nationals believes

that all struggles for freedom, justice, and equality are interconnected and that we must embody

the principles and ideals we envision for a just society.

There are more than 200 chapters at undergraduate and graduate campuses around the country,

and Georgetown Law had an active chapter until a few years ago. In an effort to revive

Georgetown Law's chapter, we have been engaging in informal conversations with students and

active student organizations and have identified a clear need for a Students for Justice in

Palestine group to be brought back to our campus. Our peers are interested in learning more

about the Israeli occupation and what the current conflict means for Palestinians, Israelis, and all

people invested or interested in facilitating conflict resolution, and liberation and justice for all.

A Georgetown Law SJP chapter would align well with Georgetown Law's commitment to

international human rights, equal justice, and diverse viewpoints.

Court has become one of Georgetown Law’s most meaningful traditions and provided essential monetary support for the Clinic’s mission.

What students involved with Home Court Do: Home Court is planned and run entirely by

students. There are 5 core committees that students can be involved with: Congressional

Outreach, Marketing, Business, Special Events, and Game Day. These committees are each in

charge of integral tasks to make the game as successful as possible. Tasks include reaching out to

Congress members to build a team, creating posters for events, gathering donations for the

game’s silent auction, hosting a fall volleyball tournament, and planning half time events. Students on the Home Court team can be as involved as they desire, with tasks for students who

International Migrants Bill of Rights Initiative (IMBR)

The International Migrant Bill of Rights Initiative was founded at Georgetown University

Law Center over ten years ago in 2008 to contribute to a comprehensive, coherent articulation of

the legal framework that protects the rights of all international migrants, regardless of the

impetus of their migration. Since its founding, the IMBR Initiative has been the base for a

growing global network that contributes to important, ongoing debates about the way the world

views and treats people who cross borders. The Initiative sought to be accessible yet

  • substantiated by extensive legal research, supported in large part by Georgetown Law students.

The initiative’s vision is a world in which the human rights of all international migrants are protected, and focused on a three-pillared approach that centered research, education and

    advocacy.

In the last decade since the founding of the IMBR Initiative, the text of the Bill of Rights

    and other tools have been drafted in consultation with migrants and other civil society actors;

policymakers at the national, regional and international levels; and students and scholars of

migration. The early work of the Initiative was managed as a collaboration between the

American University in Cairo, the Global Law Scholars program at GULC, the Migration

Studies Unit at the London School of Economics and the Minerva Institute at Hebrew

    University.

Building on this robust history, the Georgetown IMBR Chapter has coordinated efforts between

students, a now external steering committee and contributors at the Inter-American Commission.

  • Georgetown Law Softball (Softball)

The purpose of this club is to foster a community and provide a forum for

students to play recreational and competitive softball in a comfortable environment.

Weather permitting, we practice once weekly at the Randall Recreation Center. We

participate in two primary inter-law school tournaments: GW Law “Ball on the Mall” Tournament in the fall, and the UVA Law Softball Invitational in the spring. Participation

is voluntary, and members are divided into teams for the tournaments. All levels of

experience welcome! Basic equipment (bats and balls) are provided, and captains of the

club are willing to provide instruction upon request.

With numbers conducive to sending multiple teams to each tournament, we are

able to develop both “social” teams and competitive teams. The competitive teams in recent history have experienced great success. We take pride in the titles of 2016-2017

GW Law “Ball on the Mall” Tournament Champions and 2017-2018 UVA Law Softball

Invitational Final Four Finalists (in a pool of approximately 75 teams).

Irrespective of the differing levels of competition, we make it our mission to

foster a unified social environment. Beyond providing an opportunity for athletic

activity, the Georgetown Law Softball Club is a great way to develop friendships, form

mentorship relationships, and connect with fellow members of the Georgetown Law

    community.

As a student organization, we are dedicated to ensuring that pressing socio-political issues such
