Schools Spectacular is a musical
extravaganza that takes place each year
for NSW Public Schools. This year fourteen
Stage 2 and 3 students from our school
choir were selected to perform with more
than 5,500 students from public schools
across New South Wales. This will be one of
the biggest performances of their lives as
they perform 27 songs on stage at the
QUDOS Bank Arena in Homebush. We are
so incredibly proud of each of these
students.
Absent: Todah Mua, Lexine Guballa, Mele Lafo,
Lily Sullivan-Parfitt
This year our students will be
performing in four concerts:
November 22nd 11:00am
November 22nd 7:30pm
November 23rd 1:00pm
November 23rd 7:00pm
Tickets for Schools Spectacular 2019 are on

PBL AWARDS
This term our students have been given the challenge
to pose a problem to solve. This week, Annabelle has a
matchstick dilemma to give us a sweaty brain.
Remove one matchstick to make these number facts
correct:
Remember there will be a Step-Up for every student
who gives a solution.
Did you know only 5% of NSW children eat enough
vegetables?
This year St Marys South PS
participated in ‘Fruit and
Veg’ month 2019 to
encourage and promote
consumption of fruit and
vegetables. Over the four
weeks students taste tested four vegetables including
carrots, snow peas, green beans and baby qukes.
Students also completed four interactive, stage
appropriate lessons created around the theme of the
‘Adventures of Captain Fruit N Veg’.
During the four weeks students were encouraged to try
healthy options at the canteen including salad bowls
and wraps. Four canteen vouchers were drawn out of
a raffle every week. We would like to thank the South
Side Canteen for providing so many delicious and
healthy lunch options including the much loved salad
bowl.

K - 2 SPORTS CARNIVAL
On Tuesday 25th of September our K-2 students participated in the annual sports day carnival. Our students
participated in three race events including age races, egg and spoon and sack races.
Students then completed a range of rotation activities from recess until lunch including space hopper relay, over
and under relay, parachute, hoop/beanbag relay, obstacle course and playing on our new fixed equipment.
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the events. Students’ behaviour on the day was exemplary.
Our teachers were especially impressed by our student’s ability to participate and try new activities.
We would also like to thank all the parents and caregivers who came to cheer on and support our students.
