Musical Notes… The church has long set aside the month of May to honor Mary. The month of October is dedicated to the rosary - a set of prayers said in honor of the Blessed Mother. At each weekend mass during the month of October, our Music Min-istry will offer a Marian song to honor this tradition of the Catholic Church. This weekend, following communion, you heard Ave Maria by Gregory Norbet. It is a simple song that weaves in and out of Latin and English. “Ora pro nobis, pray for our faithfulness all through the seasons of life with hope and with love.” There are so many choral pieces that have been written throughout the centuries to honor the Blessed Mother Mary. Each week, I will share one of my favorites. If you have not heard Ave Maria by Ger-man composer Franz Biebl (1906-2001), I encourage you to take a few minutes this week and listen to it. It was originally written for a men’s double choir, large 4-part choir and a smaller 3-part ensemble but because of its popularity with choruses, it has been transcribed for SATB and 3 soloists. This is Biebl’s most famous work and my favorite choral tribute to Mary. The Norbet and the Biebl Ave Marias couldn’t be more different, but they share the commonality that they beautifully honor our Lady. Blessings, Debi
Faith Formation & Youth Ministry News Janice Pazuchowski, Faith Formation
This Monday, October 5th parents of students in Grades 2 & those making their Sacraments in Grade 3 are asked to attend the parent meeting for Reconciliation at 4:30 p.m. in the Conference Room adjacent to the Social Hall. If you cannot make this meeting please call the Faith Formation Office at
586-777-9116 ext. 5 to reschedule. Materials will be explained and given to our parents. Students will prepare over the next 6 weeks to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Monday, November 30th during class at 4:30 p.m. Please pray for our seven students about to learn about this Sacrament! After consideration by our staff and recent guidelines by the CDC, we have decided not to go forward with the Trunk or Treat due to the Co-Vid Pandemic. We are anxious to get back to the activities we offered before, but we need to be smart too, so as not to put anyone’s health in imminent risk. Alternative choices will be offered to the Middle School & High School Ministry for Community Service. Just a reminder, we have decided to cancel Children's Liturgy of the Word which occurs at the 11 a.m. Mass until the restrictions for attending Masses have passed. This is a very interactive assembly for children during the readings and homily at Mass and we want to make sure all children stay safe. Without knowing the exact amount that will attend and their ages, it is hard to maintain social distancing requirements for them so for the safety of all it will be placed on hold for now! This week’s Faith Formation Meetings: • Monday, October 5th, Parent Meeting for Reconciliation at 4:30 p.m. in the Conference Room adjacent to the Parish Hall. Please wear masks! • Confirmation Prep, Grade 9, continues each Tuesday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in Rooms 5 & 6. Please wear masks! • Tuesday, October 6th, St. Pio High School Ministry, Grades 9-12, will meet in the Youth Room from 7-9 p.m.
Please wear masks!
Special Request to St. Pio Parishioners
During the holiday season, St. Pio Parish donates bags of food for families in need to supplement their holiday tables. We would like to help as many families as possible this year, as it has been a difficult time for so many. We would like to include a gift card to Kroger, Meijer, and Aldi, for families to purchase their own turkey or ham. Please consider donating a gift card or cash to help those in need. Your donation may be placed in an envelope marked ‘TURKEY OR HAM’ and put in the collection basket at Mass, put in the parish mailbox on the west side of the church, or mailed to the parish office. Thank you for you generous spirit and support. May God Bless You, Tina Bullis, Christian Service Coordinator

MERCY IN ACTION
When people engage in acts of kindness, service, mercy and love,
their faith is enriched as well as those who receive the acts.
We are the hands and feet of God.
As we prepare for the fifth annual Mercy in Action Day of Service
on Sunday, October 17th, St. Pio will practice one of the corporal works by
comforting the lonely.
Since we are unable to visit with others at this time, I invite you to write a card, note or letter to someone who may be
deprived of human friendship. You will find an insert in the bulletin that can be completed, returned, and will then be distributed to local nursing homes and
the homebound; Many within our own Parish.
Most of all, do not forget that some of them may even be members of your own family, relatives and neighbors
overlooked and often forgotten. If you would like additional flyers, they are
located at the back of the church. Please return them by October 16th to
the drop box on the NW side of church, place them in the collection baskets or
drop them in the mail.
If you would like more information, please contact the Christian Service
Department at 777-9116. ext. 3

Dino Rea, Char Van Marcke and Dolphine Van Marcke who
volunteered their time and talents to help make this years census easier.
They made phone calls to parishioners who didn’t return their census forms, then sent a letter with a form to fill
out to those who could not be reached by phone.

Updating Parish Records
We need your help in updating our parish records. Even though many of you may have belonged to St. Pio for a long time, your record may be missing vital information. Calls have been made in the past few months with the hope of updating important information. If you did not turn in a completed census form, or receive a phone call from a volunteer, then we do not have a current phone number for you. Many of you now only have cell phones and no longer have a home phone. We are also ask-ing for an email address. Please take a moment to fill out the form below. We would like to be prepared should we ever have a situation like the a pandemic again. Thank you for your time.

PRAYER TO
Padre Pio
FOR HEALING
Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, obe-dient father, you loved the sick and infirm more than
yourself because in them you saw Jesus. In the name of God you performed miracles
of healing in body, soul and mind.
Your intercession with God healed the ills of past and present and strengthened peo-ple to respond with confidence to future challenges. Those who came to you re-
gained a sense of spiritual integrity as you rekindled hope in their lives, and encour-
aged them to renew the spirit in their hearts.
Through the intercession of Our Heavenly Mother, may we experience your powerful assistance and be healed in our bodily and spiritual needs. Gratefully give praise and
thanks to God for all His blessings.
Amen
Act of Spiritual
Communion My Jesus,
I believe that You are present
in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You
into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You
sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my
heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and
unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen
