Steve Ryan

A high achieving senior manager with hands on experience in the competitive

food retail sector is available to take on a fresh challenge. A career in food has

seen Steve Ryan expend his energy and skills with only two fmcg retailers

which is testimony to his loyalty and the value placed on him by his employer.

Widespread and far reaching restructuring within his former employer has

given the marketplace a great opportunity to secure the services of a high

energy, business focused, retail professional. A talent spotter who has actively

influenced, coached and guided numerous colleagues into successful careers

whilst delivering his own business goals and targets consistently.

Customer Service Champion – the area under Steve’s management consistently was

judged to be a ‘5 star’ achiever, the highest measure of customer service &

satisfaction within the Morrisons group.

Trouble Shooter – selected to join the senior management team of a store which

was high turnover but massively problematic with issues of absenteeism / poor

standards / hygiene issues / high staff turnover / zero development, coaching and

engagement of team in store. In the time Steve Ryan was in the store it won the

coveted “Grocer 33” and 5 of Steve’s team are now Store General Managers within

the Morrisons estate.

Fundraiser – personally led a team of senior managers on two long distance bike

rides to fundraise on behalf of company nominated charity. An opportunity not only

to raise funds for the charity but to engage/challenge/cajole a high performing team

in store to achieve the same outside the store.

Skills Holder – competent and capable in recruitment, managing people,

departmental management, cafe operations, petrol station operations, checkout

protocols, back office tasks, customer service. Obviously well versed in the “Market

Street” concept as operated by Morrisons comprising fish / salad bar / deli / cake

shop / bakery / meat departments.

Challenge Embracer - Involved in disciplinary actions at all levels including dismissal.

Involved in opening brand new stores from accepting responsibility for the empty

shell through all stages of implementation to launch day and beyond. Cradle to grave

experience has also seen Steve managing store closures including counselling and

mitigating the impact upon departing colleagues.
