You will receive a letter from Mr. Grow if your son or daughter will be receiving an award. If your last name begins with a letter between A-L, please bring a homemade or store bought dessert to feed 6-8 people. The boosters will provide all paper products as well as coffee and punch. STUDENTS OF THE MONTH
Coffee with Cameron February 21, 7:30am
Each month our principal, Cameron Grow,
holds a meeting to discuss various school is-
sues with the parents of our students. It is an
excellent time to ask questions and be a part
of important decisions made here at LMS.
LMS Boosters is in need of President or Co-Presidents
for the 2017-2018 school year
The President will work closely with LMS Administration and staff as
well as parents to enhance the middle school experience for students,
parents and educators at LMS. Responsibilities include: preside over
monthly meetings, organize the back to school barbecue, assist and
manage committee chairs and officers, and help out as needed at
Booster /school sponsored events. Systems are in place for the posi-
tion, but we need someone who is willing to “take the reins” and put
their mark on it. If you would like more information, please contact
current president Danielle Kallaher at [email protected]

you at a performance!
Drama Club News
February is a busy month for the instrumental music department! We hope
parents will take advantage of coming to hear the performance opportunities
this month.
Saturday, February 4th is our regional solo and ensemble festival here at Lin-
coln Middle School. Students involved in this festival have been hard at
work rehearsing their solos or small ensemble music. Students will receive
their schedule for that event in the coming days. It should be a great festival!
Eighth graders who were accepted to Junior All-State will participate in that
honor group this month, on February 18th in Bellevue. We are very proud of
all of the students who auditioned, they did an excellent job, and we know
those students who were accepted will be wonderful ambassadors for Lincoln
Middle School.
February 23rd is a big day for the Jazz Band at LMS. That is the day of the
Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. Jazz Band I will spend the day at University
of Idaho. Mr. Covill will send out more information about the Jazz Festival,
such as schedule and information for anyone interested in chaperoning, closer
to the event.
The 6th grade and 7th/8th grade Orchestras will have a concert Monday, Febru-
ary 27th at 7:30 pm in the PHS Theatre. The PHS Orchestra will also be per-
forming on this concert. Please mark your calendars!
Thank you for your support of your student in instrumental music at LMS.
CHOIR NEWS
LMS Martin Luther King Jr. Assembly ~ Great performance 7th & 8th Grade Concert Choir! The production put on by LMS Band, Choir, Leadership and Orchestra students was moving and inspiring. Great work LMS students!!
SEWMEA's "Bill Bolick Jazz Night” was a great success, and the LMS Jazz Choir had a fun performance on the Kimbrough Concert Hall stage at WSU! Students had the opportunity to hear vocal and instrumental jazz performances from high school and college groups. Thank you LMS jazz choir families for your support of this great regional event.
SEWMEA Solo/Small Ensemble Festival~ Our Southeast region’s 2017 Solo/Small Ensemble Music Festival, open to all public school music students in the Southeast region of Washington, will be hosted by Mrs. James at Lincoln Middle School in Pullman. The event will take place on Saturday, February 4th from 8:50am to 4:00pm, and will feature middle school and high school student musicians. Each performer will receive a personal adjudication and rating from a respected expert in the performer’s area of study. High school students receiving a “Superior” rating, and selection from their adjudicator, will have the opportunity to compete at the state Solo/Ensemble Festival in April. We have many vocal and instrumental students from LMS entered in the event. We invite you to come and support our performers, and enjoy some outstanding music along the way.
Washington Music Educators Association’s Jr. All-State Youth Honor Choir and Mixed Choir 2017~ LMS 6th Grade Choir students Sara Donnenwerth, Hannah James,
Alison Mangels and Eliza McNelly have been selected to participate in the WMEA Jr. All-State Youth Honor Choir. And LMS 8th Grade Concert Choir student Megan Forbes has been selected to participate in the WMEA Jr. All-State Mixed Choir. Students from the state of Washington were selected to these choirs by audition this past October and have been working on several songs they will perform collectively in concert. The performances will take place February 18th in Bellevue, WA.
Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival~ The 2017 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival is quickly approaching. The LMS Jazz Choir will perform Thursday, February 23rd during this week long event. During the day the choir will perform, listen to other ensembles and young soloists perform, and have the opportunity to sit in on clinics given by various jazz artists that also perform at the festival. Their day will be filled with jazz music. Due to this great opportunity to learn more about jazz, all choir students are highly encourage to attend as many performances and/or clinics as they can during the week. Keep up the great work jazz singers! If you are not receiving “choir news” emails and would like to, simply email Mrs. James at [email protected] with your email address and you will be added to the family list. The “choir news” emails send out reminders to families/students about upcoming student performance events, tell what students should be practicing at home, and give information about extra credit/enrichment opportunities in our area.
