SPECIAL INTENTIONS
The trip to the Holy Land is fast approaching. We leave Jan. 23rd. Anyone who would like us to pray for a special intention, please write it down and place it in the collection basket labeled Holy Land. Cities that we’ll be
visiting include Haifa, Jerusalem, Nazareth,
Capernaum, Galilee, Jericho, Bethlehem, Cana, Jordan
River. As we celebrate mass in the places where our Lord walked, we will remember
your intentions.
MOHEGAN BUS TRIP Monday, February 12th . We leave St. Joe’s
parking lot at 8AM. We leave Mohegan to return home at 4:15. The cost for the
trip is $35. Please call the rectory for reservations.
This seems like an unlikely topic to address in the
bulletin. Unfortunately, many have forgotten that
we are in our Father's house when we are in
church. Not many of us would go into our parent's house, chewing gum, and then when it had lost its
flavor, stick it under a table or put it on the floor. Unfortunately, we are finding gum stuck under
the pew seats. Please be respectful of God’s house. We thank you for your cooperation!

Did you know? The Parish Council will meet immediately after the 9 AM Mass in the North Chapel. All are invited to attend.
Our parish would like to encourage people to make prayer shawls for the ill of the parish. If interested, please contact Father Mike for more information. Through your generosity our parish fed over 110 shut ins with the monthly Sharing Roots meal program. Meatloaf was made in our parish center and packaged and delivered by fellow parishioners. The funding for the expenses is thanks to generous donors both within and outside the parish. The 57th 12th Night Festival was held in our Parish Center on January 6th. A wonderful meal, dancing, prizes and yummy desserts made for the continuation of a memorable tradition, which was brought to our Parish from the former Mount Carmel Parish. Our parish is glad to host the Mass and this important celebration.

"He first found his own brother Simon and told him, 'We have found the Messiah.'" After spending
the day in the company of Christ, Andrew took action. He shared the good news! Instead of keeping his newfound friendship with Jesus all to himself, Andrew invited his brother into the fold. Andrew
found Simon and "brought him to Jesus." This was no small matter because Simon would become
Peter, the first pope! How important it is to bring others along with us to meet Christ! Yet, how
often do we reach out with the kind of confidence that Andrew had? Are we ready and willing to
share our faith with our family and friends? Do we consider our relationship with Jesus a gift to be shared, or a fact to be safely hidden away in our
personal prayer corner? Part of our call as Christians is to evangelize others, to share with
them the good news of salvation. Loving Jesus and following his moral commands is essential, of
course, but it is not the end of the story. The Gospel message is meant for all people, and we are meant to be its messengers. Sometimes this requires us to step out of our comfort zone. It may mean speaking
up when we'd rather be silent. It may mean inviting someone to Mass when they might say no. But it might also mean a conversion for someone we care about. It might mean a new minister for the Church. Ultimately, it might mean another
saint in heaven. None of that is up to us, however. What we can control is only whether we share our faith joyfully and extend the invitation to others to
experience the peace that comes from knowing Christ.
