The people of Samaria come to worship the Lord and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. It is the same Spirit who leads us into the truth. In the body, Jesus was put to death; in the Spirit, he was raised to life. We are called to this same glory.

A<N; C:;O S;N;:

Work on the old convent is going well and we will most likely be approved for occupancy by the second week of June. Of course, we have to stop calling it “the old convent”! We are in the process of naming the various new spaces available for parish use: the community room and dining room in the former convent as well as the rooms in the present office space. The transition to the new “Parish Center” (pretty sure that is what we will call it) will be completed by the end of the summer before the school year begins. Be patient with us as we move. There will probably be some glitches in the transfer but we will sort these out in the first couple of weeks.

I am excited about the work that is being done and look forward to having some more space for parish usage. I will be talking to the parish in the Fall about my vision for other renovations in the future (hopefully in time for our 100th Anniversary in 2020), especially the need for a Parish Social Hall. At some point I will have an open house for the new Parish Center so you can all see the good we are doing when it comes to making more space for the many activities and organizations we are blessed to have!

VBS DATES: June 26-30, 6-8:30pm. Father Beiting Appalachian Mission Center Update

A special Thank You to all of our parishioners who helped support our April 23rd trip to Father Beiting Appalachian Mission Center.

We replaced the flooring in the kitchen and dining room and repaired the flooring in the bedroom and living room of a family who really needed our help. Because of your generosity, we were able to add Vinyl flooring to the Kitchen, Dining Room and entry to their mobile home.

In addition, we were asked to build a deck at the front door of a mobile home for a gentleman who has Multiple Sclerosis. Your support and contributions made this project possible too. Again, “Thank You” for your prayers, support and encouragement.

God’s Way – “The Road to Kindness”

We are so happy to see the Kindness Acts that are coming in! Thank you for demonstrating your caring way!

We have heard that you may be doing Kindness Acts but prefer not to share them – we understand. It is the act of Kindness that counts! When we kicked off this Kindness Matters Program – we wanted Kindness to be Contagious. One of the ways to make it contagious is by sharing the Kindness Acts each week in our parish. Please remember you can always share your Kindness Act by indicating “Anonymous”.

This week’s Kindness Acts to share with you:

Following last week’s theme of teaching our children to be Kind, we want to share that we have wonderful neighbors. One of our neighbors has a two year old little girl named Kate. Kate helped her mom to make two cupcakes and she delivered them to us with the biggest smile! We were having a challenging week and this very special act of kindness by Kate made our week! Kate’s parents are truly teaching her what kindness means. Thank you for sharing your kindness with us.

"I always find myself too busy to even think of doing an act of kindness. That's when it hit me that we keep ourselves from just being nice to each other. I've spent the last week at school just saying hello to people walking down the hall. Was it intentional? Yes, but it soon became second nature and who knows, maybe people just want to be recognized as being present in life."

Please share your act of kindness by emailing them to: [email protected]

BULLETIN REMINDER: Requests for information to be included in the parish bulletin are due Mondays by 9:00 am. Forms are available on our parish website under the “contact us” menu. All requests must include the date(s) of the bulletin(s) you would like your information included and be submitted exactly as you would like the information to appear.

PARISH MINISTRY NEWS, EVENTS & MEETINGS

TIS THE SEASON FOR ALLERGIES AND ASTHMA!

We are now in pollen season! We see this on our cars and feel it in our bodies. Many of us have runny noses, itchy, and watery

eyes. For those of us with asthma, though, we may start to have increase in our asthma symptoms; tightness in chest, coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. Also be aware that some of us may experience rapid onset of asthma symptoms right before a thunderstorm. The pollen and mold spores are kicked up with the wind and there is a drastic rise in our triggers. Pay close attention to your breathing and treat your symptoms as directed by your doctor.

You need to make sure you carry your quick acting inhalers when out and about, so it can be used immediate-ly when symptoms start. Also, for those taking daily controllers, follow the physicians’ instructions. Make sure you know how to use your inhaler properly; most of us have never been taught proper use of the inhalers (check with your physician or pharmacist for proper use). Also, make sure we are taking to take the prescribed allergy medicines so that the allergy symptoms that trigger our asthma symptoms can be controlled. If you are outside and have pollen allergies, make sure you take a shower or bath to remove the pollen. This might decrease the asthma symptoms.

This monthly feature is courtesy of our Parish Nurse Ministry.
